Do u have any suggestions on a net the is affordable to the average steelhead fisherman? That one looks well built and has the right meshing but woo thats a-lot for a net. I appreciate the videos!

Nike pro warm (winter weight dry fit material) tights, and long sleeve top. Nike winter warrior fleece lined soccer pants over the tights. The pants taper and have zippers on the ankle. The nice part is the pants don’t climb up your leg as you put on the waders. I have hunted and fished in Nike pro for years. Sent some to a guide I used in Montana several years ago…he now uses it all the time.

I have the orvis pro wading pants as shown in the video and they are great for warmth and wicking. My only criticism is that where the foot strap connects to the bottom of the pants is very bulky and when walking with wading boots the bulky bit digs in to my ankle and can be extremely uncomfortable, even after a few minutes. I have tried messing around with the tension on my laces to prevent this happening but it is still the same problem. I would prefer no ankle strap and just tuck the bottom of the pants into my socks.

The Folstaff has been around for years even before they became popular. They’re taller and I like to anchor it on the bottom and then you can lightly wedge it into your waist for a little more stability

I wear the Orvis Pro almost every day in the winter, including under my drysuit when kayaking Lake Erie on cold water days. In fact, i spent 3 weeks straight in them this summer during my latest kayak trip in Alaska.

I could all my friends to use one.

As a ‘more seasoned’ (old) angler that often fishes alone I believe the wading staff is essential and responsible.

There's definitely been a couple times where I could've used one of these, including one time I took a spill fishing the upper Chag on New Year's Day. Temps were in the 20s and I would have been in a lot of trouble if I didn't have my dad with me to pull me out, and I was a spring chicken then too. Great vid, it's awesome to see the quality of these increasing every time!

Someone needs to come out with replacement holsters for them.

Thinking of getting my dad one for Christmas. He recently took a plunge in the Vermillion when we didn't see a 5ft deep drop-off when wading and had to wear my spare hoodie home. We laugh about it now, but BOY would that have been bad if it was a cold day!

I just went to Ashtabula. They wouldn’t touch gaudy, colorful steelhead patterns, only got them on nymphs like beaded soft hackles, Walt’s etc. Swinging size 14 soft hackles with 3mm bead in stained water killed it.

More confused 😕

An alternate method is to hook your fly on the second stripper guide, wrap your leader around the "reel", not the reel foot, then reel in the excess. When your ready to fish just pop the leader off the reel and give your rod a jiggle and the fly usually pops right off the guide and you're ready to go.
