I will only be talking about the black women on this show and how colourism impacts their portrayal.

thier is a certain level of irony in the show about light skin women talking about colourism. I find it intresting that Hollywood will accept an Dark skin black male with fuller features meaning bigger nose and fuller lips but when it comes to thier female counterpart it's like they don't get it. Colorism is a world wide issue its in Asia india and hispanic comminity aswell it seems like the Darker you are especial if your a women it's harder for you especial in the industry. It's sad

Sadly I checked the source material and thats where it ended, so I'm a bit skeptical on the quality of a season 2 if they don't bring the author in to write it. I'm not a fan of romance anime since a lot of them have chemistry that just feels unnatural, but the premise of this show interested me and I was greeted by writing that actually feels real and complex. I don't like when I can predict a character and this might say more about me, but I was shocked and got emotional every time Anzu stood up for her friends. It's just refreshing to see a nuanced and socially intelligent character like her in an industry where she would normally be written as just another "tomboy" trope, dumb and solving things through intimidation or violence I love everything about this show aside from the slow start which had to take some time to grow on me.

That’s a fair point. I’m glad you enjoyed the series as well! As much as I would love a season two, I don’t want unless the story is genuinely good

It's like they want to mention 'hot button' issues, but in the most superficial ways. But if they started truly pulling at the colorism thread, I sure Kenya's whole mind would unravel. lol

The show is defo a good introduction to these topics but it doesn’t really go that much into depth on them. So you only just get surface level knowledge if you don’t understand these issues. It has potential tho
