Reinstalling the rear wheel. Search ebay for a 'belt tension gauge' to buy a cheaper sprung version which will allow you to check the belt tension before and after. Price around 25 quid. Incidentally Yamaha recommend measuring from the rear of the swinging arm (on both sides) to the rear face of the belt adjusting block - not the front face as I talk about in the video.

I listened but it is too hard to tell. I would guess belt, maybe it is wearing out. I would get belt replaced and check components while there. Perhaps rear wheel bearing.

I wonder if using a sacrificial plastic zip tie to help keep the caliper bracket in place, then cutting the zip tie after the wheel in place.

Hello i have yamaha tmax 530 2014 model i have problem i listen a sound from drive pulley like a chirp (whistle) you know the reason ? I put lithium grease and i set my belt in the right number.

I have the same bike but it's a 2014. I followed your instructions but when I came to the wheel spindle, I could not get it out, the spindle was so stiff. Do you have any suggestions?
I can only suggest a heavy mallet or hammer but protect the spindle by using a piece of wood in between
@@530tmax I tried wood but the wood split I had to use metal there is a little dent but nowhere near the threads. I managed to remove the spindle. Thank you for your video it was a great help.

Did you really need to mess around with the tension adjuster screws? After pushing out the axle bolt the wheel would move forward anyway, allowing the belt to slip off it.
I think you may be right. As I had a tension tool it didn't matter, but it would be easier for most people if they could leave the tension adjusters unchanged and just withdraw the axle bolt.
@@530tmax Thanks. This helps me as I have an AK550, which has to have the belt tension done very accurately. They use an expensive sonic tool to do it at the factory, and it can be out by as much as 100 ft/lb pressure with just 1/16th of a turn on the screws (so they tell me), so I'd like to leave them alone. Not to mention the belt tracking and wheel alignment is also affected if they don't match either side.

@@quadmeister I figured. I got rid of the bike now anyway. Far too many problems all the time and they got fed up dealing with them under warranty and during lockdown their customer care completely disappeared. The bike isn't fit for purpose. I know someone else who also got rid of it because of the costs of fixing all the time. Great bike if they could loose all the problems. I now have a BMW R1200RT
I think you'd struggle to pull the wheel back enough to get the axle back in. It's easier to release the tension first.
What is the torque setting though? Quite an important part to leave out

Hi! would you please suggest a paritcular manual belt tension device (from e-bay) as you mentioned at 20quid? The issue is there are lots of them on e-bay, seems to be OK for manual metering of the belts , but sellers do not know whether they will good for Tmax 530. Thank you for your advisce.
I was thinking one like this, but use it first to read the old belt tension before you take it off to give you a similar reading to put new belt on with. @@530tmax Had mine stolen too but fortunately coppers weren't far away and managed to stop them before dismantling it or use it for nicking phones. Have you thought about buying the new DX? Tracker comes as standard and the thieves aren't as present as they used to.
