Yeah, that AK reload which also happens to be the default NPC reload goes as far as advanced warfare. It feels out of place hearing it in AW.

Just proves that ghosts was a further "development" from MW3 and not the groundbreaking new engine blah blah

I believe the ak from mw3 was there because of the rail attatchment, it was used on the APS the p90 was used on those turrets in Clockwork and if i'm not mistaking there is an RPG on the last mission used by an enemy, the other weapons might have been used for misc things.

Since all of these weapons were returning weapons from previous CoDs, I wonder if they scrapped them to make the game feel more next gen since Ghosts was the first CoD to release for PS4 and Xbox One. That was among the biggest complaints of MW3 that it had too much copied over from MW2. I would say engine limitations keeping them out, but Ghosts had several DLC weapons unless those were planned into the limitations which makes some sense as DLC3/4 didn't have a DLC weapons. DLC1 had the Mavericks (and Venom-X for Extinction), and DLC2 had the Ripper. Probably a combination of both "newness" and engine limitations lead to them being scrapped.

I remember there being an M1911 with a comedically beefy firing sound. Not as a functioning gun I don't think but it was used for a cutscene in Extinction a few times. The most notable one being the uh Awakening or something.

all the guns (aside from the first m9 from mw2) missing from ghosts are just copy pastes of already existing guns in mw3. however this is very interesting to see, as when i used to trickshot, there was an uncanny feeling of similarity between these two games (mw3 & ghosts), so seeing these scrapped weapons further reaffirms said feeling!
