You are so right, it is such a broad field. Just recently started working in climate consulting firm. It is totally different from what I thought as it still focuses on sustainability but leans more towards climate change, carbon emissions and accounting, energy and and just transition, science based target setting decarbonization and all. It's a whole other world 😅

Im currently in grade 12 so do i apply after i have been accepted into an institution

You are so right about geology being overlooked. Yoh guys so much goes into this degree but most industries just don't take us seriously. I remember wanting to apply for the ABSA quants programme and literally every physical sciences degree including geography was literally part of the requirements. It was only geology sana that was not there. It's so hard to convince people that we have great analytical skills and can do any job because everybody thinks we are just chilling and looking at rocks the whole day. Nonetheless, thank you for sharing your journey. I'm motivated to start applying.

The manager said what!? Sounds like they are just a bitter person. People resigning is completely normal, you put in the work they should be grateful to you, and they should focus on finding your replacement and you leaving a handover document. There should be no drama, they did not do you any favours.
