    Missed part 2. Got it a year later. Funny how that works. For reference, ON THE AVERAGE, Classic muscle car fender washers are 60 thousands thick. Some are 40 and some are 50, depending. 50 thousands is a pretty loose clutch pack setting, i would hazard a guess. You can buy a single disk slider like above for your race car, with adjustable primary and secondary fingers. Alot of work rocking that clutch. Carry a spare disk or two, and get good at pulling trans apart to adjust/replace clutch. Good for 1800hp they say.

    I'm interested in your statement about adding cutters on the floaters. I guess in my mind adding cutters would make it more aggressive, not slow it down for a looser track. Can you expound on that? In our TAD we have a 3 disc pedal clutch, we run a 3 or 6 cutter full width floater in the front and a 9 cutter half width floater in the back. I haven't learned exactly why yet but I'm interested in your thoughts about floaters.

    Hard to fathom that an engine can actually use that much fuel in such a short time

    • @kelainefes
      @kelainefes ปีที่แล้ว

      Well towards the end he says that there is a concrete risk of the fuel choking the spark plug, and that can cause fuel to say in the cylinder reducing the space for air and therefore increasing pressure on the compression stroke so much that it can blow the head gasket and damage the blower....

    • @klausstock8020
      @klausstock8020 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Nitromethane requires much less oxygen to burn than gasoline (factor 8.6). The Roots blower uses 1000hp at maximum pressure, and still doesn't manage to get enough air into into the engine for gasoline, and I guess not even enough oxygen to completely burn the nitromethane. But, luckily, nitromethane even works as a monopropellant (no additional oxygen needed), producing carbon monoxide and hydrogen (which will also ignite, possibly after leaving the engine). So you can run with a very fat mixture. It's very different than gasoline, in many respects! It also provides better cooling than gasoline, IIRC. The engine "pumps" 4 liters per revolution, doing 240 revolutions from start to finish for a race. That's nearly 1000 liters of (pre-compressed) air/fuel mixture. Mathematically, this works out. 1 kg of nitromethane with only 1.7 kg of air for a stoichiometric mixture, less air and more nitromethane for the fatter mixture we want. VERY different than gasoline!

      Shuts the engine down sooner because theres no fuel going through the supercharger. As the only lubricant to keep the teflon cool inside the blower the sooner you stop it from running the longer the teflon lasts. Thanks for the question
