#crank #bearing & #seal replacement on #2stroke #engine
Follow this video for the #tools and process to follow to replace your #crank #bearings and #seals on this #2stroke #engine
The process is similar for most 2 stroke #motocross engines but this one is for 1980 #honda #cr125
There was a bearing that came out with the crank so we needed to use a bearing #separator tool and also a bit of bearing grade #loctite needed to secure the bearings in the casings.

Will the sump completely drain all it oil out now because of original design cut out of sump plug thread which was bad design in first place?
Helicoil is not water tight so yes the oil will drain through the helicoil threads
TURN THE CHOKE ON DUDE
I had to google "Oil-on bar" as not heard that description before. Are you referring to Nylon 6 'Oil- filled' bar, usually a mid/darker green coloured engineers plastic also available in sheet/plate form?
Hi mate - exactly that yes. I've always called it oilon. Great material to use for all kinds of applications 👍

One more thing from 0:34, that bearing behind the clutch that moves in its casing. Has the casing ovalled or is the bearing supposed to be held more firmly (shim) from behind? Would be interested to hear your thoughts on remedy if applicable.
Hopefully get to that bearing replacement tomorrow and will have an update.
Nice job. Now I know what the punch is for ! 😀
Every day is a school day! That tang is designed to break off so better to tap it off than it come off in your motor!
2 stroke piston
Yep - engine running slightly lean
What did you sell it for? Thanks
I think 2200
I had 1976 cr360GP Hiekko Mikkola replica cracked case magnesium. Mine pulled cylinder off one half. Perhaps this is not structural and you can fill area will JB weld to seal air leaks. Welding magnesium that had oil in it is almost impossible.
See what my welder can do and then cover it In jb weld I think!
Looks like a 'just in time' rebuild.
Yeah he was lucky!!
Hi did you sell the rm what kind of price would it make today if it was running ? I ask because i have one
Yeah I definitely sold it. Are you in UK? Might know someone interested in it if you send details to matt@phoenixmotos.com
Old magnesium?
Exactly
Most people aren't willing to show their mistakes because of the negative comments, but I love videos that show the mistakes and how to do it correctly, because I learn much more from them.
Hopefully less mistakes from me as I've learned and adapted but yeah thats why I show them - If I make the mistake then I'm sure others to too so worth showing!
just got parts of a 1999 kx 125 if you got any engine parts or engine wheels shock i need your number buddy nice one
I had a few of these raced MX and Enduro in 80s . Durable never blew up . Clutch plates wore out but not much else in 1980s . Japan bikes dominated so Swedish Husqvarna sadly went out of business. Nice channel Thank you 👍 Cheers
They ate great bikes for sure. The crank cases on this one are not well cast which is causing me a lot of issues!
@@phoenixmotos9712That magnesium is often porous . JB weld epoxy seals tiny holes .
This was my dads first dirt bike- he rode motorbikes before but this was his first proper one, he only had it for 6 months but he said those were the best months of his life
Little Suzuki TS90 and TC90 dirt bike engines had disk valves. I bought the racing one and built a 20,000 rpm expansion chamber for it. A guy owned a dirt bike shop told us to fit a Hodaka 100 piston to it and then cut off the top of the cylinder. That gave it lots of port time area. Good times. The only thing I know about Bighorns is an article I read about guys road racing them against 350cc twins and giving a fair account of themselves. But "all other things being equal" the 350 single's mechanical integrity redline is lower than a twin's.
So cool my first ever bike was a ts90 when I was 7 - I loved that bike! 20'000 rpm sounds crazy. This motor is to be used for vintage motocross and is in a very cool Boyd & Stellings frame very rare and very cool
You know she was at all the best parties
I think she still is!!
DeCosters baby!!! I love it!!!
Great bikes! And defo did Roger the business on them
Sounds crispy brother!👋👌💪🤝
Super crispy!
It’s not just me then that comes across stuff like this, nice one mate 👍
Oh I come across all sorts of stuff!
The yellow exhaust is gay.
They liked yellow didn't they!!!
Let that bike warm up! Don’t give it to much gas on a cold start let it idle.
I know I was always in such a rush to get the video done I had a tendency to do this! I fo know better as well - no excuse!
Always knew of this system but have never actually seen it ! Interesting thanks matt. 👍
It's a pleasure David - really cool system
The '86 YZ range have red radiator shrouds rather than the white which were, I think, 87 but are as rare as hen's teeth now to find
It should have had red you are right
Just bought one these for 20 bucks from my friend been fixing it up and this makes me even more motivated to get this thing ripping
Oh man what a deal!!! These things are super cool! Send pics or a video when it's done to matt@phoenixmotos.com
I have just cleaned my uncles rayburn and there's a steel pipe about 10cm long going from the copper pipe to the middle of the of the burner with a hole through it around 8mm big. Going by what you have done with a 3.5mm drill bit does it mean this short piece of steel pipe has much to bigga bore through it?
Maybe it is a much bigger bore but that would suggest a much greater oil flow - get some pics if you can
@@phoenixmotos9712 I’ve screwed it back together now, I wished I had taken a photo before I done that, dam! Thanks for the reply by the way…
@@thundertiger76 no problem - there will obviously be a difference - maybe the flow is controlled by a smaller jet near the burner? Anyway check it out next time
@@phoenixmotos9712 No jet as such, the exit hole for the oil is nearly as big. I assume it fills up the cup like shape well until it flows through the channels to the wicks?
Hi!! Out of curiosity what would you charge to come out and clean one of these ovens. Buying a house in Peterborough that has one but with seven ovens I believe (really big ones) and it is oil.
Ah sorry I just did this video for a friend who was thinking about offering this as a service in his business. I think it's probably about £200 for someone to come and do it
my first bike was a 79 RM50, i rode it through a fence 30mins after my brother showed me how to ride it, 2 weeks later my brother had his middle left finger chopped off when he fell of and put his hand in the rear sprocket. my parents banned me from having motorbikes for a few years after that. #good times.
Sounds like a nightmare - but thankfully you got back into motorbikes and have enjoyed them ever since!
Bought this bike for my son when he was 5yo in 1998. He loved it.
Awesome little bike
Iv a 1983 tlr 200cc the pre 1986 ones are 6v and not called reflex
I think the earlier ones like you have are more a true trials bike where asthma later ones are more of a trail bike
Hello. We have the same bike (1983) that we are ready to sell. Can I ask what you sold yours for? Thank you!
Where are you?
They'll never be an idle adjustment that will keep it running while cold
Very good point
Curious, what are these worth?
Difficult question and depends where you are
i loved these blue frame Suzuki's
Me too!
10:10 you have a beautiful back yard
Thanks buddy
fantastic little bike
Awesome aren't they
Brutal
Got to love a big bore 2 stroke
Tommy Shelby does a leak down test?
😂😂😂
Thats the standard side stand and silencer mate
How’s this project going I thinking about getting a 88 kx250 but it has not compression and would need to clean carbs. Was it difficult finding parts in from the US
I don't restore this one - just sold it on
That's a rough looking bike man
I get all sorts
You whant sale or trade I have yz250 1998 restored bolt to bolt like New if you whant doe something whit 465 let me know
What happened to the number plate on the side?
The exhaust melted it
deffo started it before that first kick
Yeah I always get them running 1st - my early videos I didn't and sometimes just had a video of me kicking quite a bit!
Nice.
Nice bike has a lot of power
My high school friend had one, white/yellow. We were riding one summer day in a hay field, he took a dump after hitting a tractor tire rut, the hot exhaust caught the hay field on fire and burned up his bike and several acres of prime hay. Was a bad day!!
Sounds like a bad day . I flipped mine Fords backwards and Barrel rolled it down the hill sideways still runs
Oh wow! Hard day!!!
I have a 1981 465 but mine's white and yellow
I had a photo of one pulling the front wheel up out of some deep water, on my wall when I was a teenager in the 80s. Dirt Bike magazine article.
White and yellow - european and Canadian colours! - really cool bikes
81 only year IT come in white I know in other country have 490 in white but IT only 81 white
That tank is the enduro version.. when I bought my 91 540 I had a choice of MX tank with Radiator shrouds or the bigger that you have .. I think the difference was 9.5 to 14ltr ..I’m glad I picked the big one 😎🇦🇺👍🏼
You definitely know your stuff and for trail riding the bigger tank pays dividends!
@@phoenixmotos9712 I was fortunate to buy an even bigger tank for my bike .. had to make a new seat but it was worth it for long rides..
