What do you play on?

If ur having trouble with enemies that move around a lot and u just cant hit them use a shield. Its not like past souls games where u take damage everytime. Instead it uses stamina. (Unless there is a status on their weapon) then just put the shield up and when they attack the will more than likely flinch and right after ur shield is attacked hit the heavy attack button and u will hit them with a gaurd counter. It works wonders on dogs. U dont even need to push shields for it to be really useful.

Level vigor

Try and get mimic tear ro a decent level. Bleed is the best element. Curved weapons are op.

There’s a dagger called Kris. It’s scaled with int and it’s special move is a glintstone charge spell. It’s really convenient picking off enemies, gives you a melee route if that doesn’t work out, and you can still use a shield. There’s a staff ash of war that spins the staff, it’s pretty useful in a pinch.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball. And that’s still not going to help much

Elden Ring was my first as well, although I’ve played DS3, Sekiro, and DS Remastered since beating it. From playing the others, I’ve learned exploring is your best friend, stay cool, don’t always spam heal (depending on talismans), only level up around 2-3 attributes past level 45+, and don’t be afraid to look up quest lines for Elden ring. They hold some of the best loot and nice builds that can be easily missed if you don’t have hours to explore.

Dont give up

Stay calm and treat the game like any other. The bosses seem nasty and impossible at first, but you'll eventually see their fighting patterns. Oh and make sure you look around lyndell alot for extra loot, most of it disappears after a certain point in the game.

Level up as much arcane as possible

Shields can be good against normal enemies, but I don't recommend using them on bosses on a first playthrough. If you can stay calm and memorize a boss' moveset (and how to roll through attacks) bosses will rarely be a problem if you give a boss multiple tries Biggest piece of advice tho? Gotta say staying calm and persevering. Is it easier than the other Souls games? Absolutely. But it is still a hard game. When you get stuck, don't take it negatively. Take it as a learning opportunity. Go explore other areas if you don't feel you're ready for smth. And when you come back to a tough area, it might be a struggle, but you got this. Are you on Xbox? Also level vigor and endurance at the start. I recommend for first time players to find the sword of night and flame and level for that once you’ve gotten comfortable with your health bar and stamina

Focus on a certain type of build such as a dexterity build or a strength build each type has different variations but for a first playthrough a bleed dexterity build is easiest
