I am developing a major overhaul mod for Gran Turismo 3, "GT3: Concept", of which I post many videos about.
I'll probably also post videos about hidden/modded content in PS1 & PS2 games as well.
If you have a beta/unseen demo build of PS2 Gran Turismo games, feel free to contact me about it. These types of versions could contain usable data for the project.
I post mod-development related behind-the-scenes content on the community Discord server as well, so I recommend you check it out.

Also, I've gotten a few requests for setting up a donation platform, and I finally did, so if you want to donate and support the development of the GT3 mod project, feel free to donate!

GT3:C vs. GT4: Suspension & Tire Physics Comparison
A little comparison video to show how suspensions & tires work in the updated physics of GT3: Concept against GT4.
Recently GT3:C got a major suspension damper physics update, which fixed or reduced issues in the vanilla physics. The suspensions act less "robotic", there's more suspension travel, and the suspensions are far more reactive than before. I considered this one of the key issues with GT3's original physics, especially comparing how GT2 actually had decent suspensions compared to GT3, in my personal view. Now with these suspensions there's also more bodyroll and body movement, another issue I had with GT3.
GT3:C also got updated car body yaw values.
Now comparing to GT4, during racing, GT4's suspensions feel completely flat and static compared. I would say I very much prefer GT3:C's new physics over GT4, but I do realize GT4 does some things better than GT3:C; I quite like the very small suspension movements after stopping a car, and I also like that there's even more suspension travel in GT4 (although I feel like it is massively exaggerated in situations like accelerating and braking.) Sadly, thanks to hardcoding limitations, I can't really do much more about suspension travel and that small "jiggling".
Also, about the tires, after seeing how GT4 performed in the "reversing & accelerating" test, there's definitely some things I have to do in the tire compound physics department. Otherwise, GT3:C takes the cake in the tires, GT4's understeer, oversteer, tire slip and handbrake turns are just awful.

Got something a little different today. I've been wanting to try this for a while now and today I tested it successfully. As someone who enjoys both GT3 and GT4, I feel that most of these comparisons aren't very fair and are heavily biased towards GT3. It looks like you're trying to apply a GT3 driving style of braking late while turning to GT4, which is not how the game is designed to be played. GT3's much more forgiving in that regard, while GT4 punishes you heavily for not braking in advance of the corner. GT4's driving aids are also way stronger than GT3's, and it would have been a more even comparison if ASM and TCS were turned off in both games. Also I'm not sure what what was going on in the GT4 example of the "bumpy roads and curbs" comparison; throwing the car's weight off-center over bumps and letting one wheel touch the grass is inevitably going to cause instability. Meanwhile the GT3 example shows a different problem: how prone to sliding cars are with even slight turn inputs, due to how much body roll cars have. I don't think GT4's handling is without its faults, the way most cars auto-correct themselves when you apply the throttle is a bit much, but I do think the game could have been given a far better representation here. Especially with how much handling can improve with some slight setup adjustments and disabling the assists.
@@TeaKanji I was showing GT4 mostly in it's default state. And no, GT3 has very little body roll originally unlike GT4. And my driving, I'm driving to how I'm used in both, 4's physics are restrictive and I'm not going to change my driving habits to sugarcoat 4.
@@Misuka It's nothing to do with "sugarcoating", it's literally just applying good braking discipline, controlling the car's weight and following the apex of the corner. All this really compares is the complete casual experience of both games, of what it's like to hop straight into Arcade Mode without adjusting anything. GT3 is naturally more fun because the assists aren't as obtrusive and you can get away with sliding around corners, but GT4 is far more rewarding once you play around with the settings. Completely different experiences, forcing GT4 to play GT3's game makes GT3 look far better.
@@TeaKanji Yeah but.. the point was to show GT4 in it's standard form. If I start playing around with settings and whatnot, it's not standard anymore is it?
@@Misuka If that's the purpose of the comparison, then objectively I can't argue with that, but I still think I'm allowed to question the usefulness of it and how much it actually applies to someone who has basic knowledge of either game. It would be very short-sighted to use this comparison as proof that GT3 has "better" physics than GT4, because it's far more complicated than comparing how cars handle in Arcade Mode with stock suspension, all assists enabled and a very aggressive driving style.
Very cool video
Gt2>the rest of gt games, yes i am biased
Tourist Trophy Prologue
I don't know man, I didn't played GT3 too much, but the feeling I got driving a JGTC Castrol Supra in Midfield Raceway is I can throw the car 200km/h in a turn and he still can handle the grip.
Cmn after playing gt5, gt sport, gt7, and even as reference asetto corsa and dirt rally 2.0, you can tell how far from good are gt3 physics, neither gt4, but gt4 physics feel way better than gt3, in gt3 the car feels glued to the road, far from good physics
Never knew how much worse GT4 physics were compared to the previous and later entries. GT4 might be the best GT, but physics are something we don't talk about.
Always felt GT3 got it right. Except for the oil changes EVERY 300 kilometeres on the odometer. Granted its SOLID, full pace racing, but 4 did odometers right where you'd change after a 8 or 24hr endurance race anyway as opposed to 3 was literally every endurance race and 3 races into Formula GT. Wish the oil change warning value could be changed.
@@sonnymastrangioli I haven't yet found a value for the oil wear, but I'm fairly sure there is one, if I do find it I'll definitely modify it

Would be cool to see a GT3 physics restoration project for GT4. I never really thought about it until I saw the comments but GT4 does feel pretty stiff in comparison. And now even looking at how the rally stages were the cars actually felt like they were ''free'' compared to the GT4 physics where the cars are really stiff in the air and acts as if they weigh 5 tons. You don't see any suspension travel it's all just a mass as someone else put it. It's as if every car has the traction and suspension of an F1 car without the grip and power. Explains why I always found the Top Gear clip of the NSX in Laguna Seca so weird when put one to one to the real thing.
It wasn't intended but I kinda, like, the vanilla map still being there? It's neat watching the dot go off into the old route and seamlessly merge back into the map

Always loved GT3 more, felt special. GT4 was great, but felt less refined when it came to the feel of the specific car. Guess it can’t be helped due to the sheer number of cars in that game.
In the NTSC-J version of GT4, there was a hidden assist even if all assists were turned off, which made the behavior when drifting almost uncontrollable. And grip driving wasn't fun either.
In some cases, it's no surprise that NTSC-J version looks like a late preview build...

Spec C (Concept) haha
A mod that edits the gameplay, and adds cars and tracks, including those that are unused, from GTC, GT4P demos and the Japan version of GT4P. Also is adding bikes.
GT4 is just awful all around. Never understood the appeal. It's like the physics engine treats the cars as a point mass rather than having a front and rear distribution. Minimal rotation, even on entry under braking with a lateral load in a rear heavy car. Behaves as if there is no (or minimal) inertia at the rear of the car. Feels as if the SRF aid from GT5/6 is enabled, but on the rear only. It's simply bizarre. And even more baffling how players either accept this and give it a pass, claiming GT4 to be the GOAT or are blissfully unaware of basic vehicle dynamics. GT1 is much more accurate in terms of weight transfer and inertia. The only problem with that game, is the effects are greatly over exaggerated. Whereas they are so greatly under exaggerated in GT4, to the point they virtually don't exist.
gt4's rallying feels like driving on solid ice
Solid ice with occasional tiny bits of oversteer. Similar to the newer forza horizon titles but slightly less grip.
