Gaining confidence with the tire obstacle

Gaining confidence with the tire obstacle In this lesson you’ll see Teddy demonstrate how to get your horse to “acknowledge” the obstacle (actually look at it) and how to maneuver laterally over and around the obstacle. The purpose of doing this is to get your horse to recognize. There is a benefit for them, some release time if they get their foot where you would like them to place it. It also...
Jenny the donkey- May novice course

Here’s my go with Jenny on the May novice pattern. Prior to this month the tire obstacle was her nemesis. She only wanted to step on the rubber, never wanted to place her feet in the dirt “holes”. Look for a second video isolating the tires. In this go she steps off with one hind foot. The trot over poles was also not her best work- she typically really can rock out stepping in the spaces and p...

    coffee break is over is fantastically uplifting and fun! Love it! Thanks for sharing! :) A slightly more jazzy version here than in the original, I think. Improved! And then Aviici's really sad song, maybe indicating his demise, but it is so beautiful. "Wake me up when this is all over, wake me up when I am older", when all the burdens and troubles of life has lifted, and we can see a bit more clearly on our reality, and see that it is good as well. Unfortunately, Aviici did not live to become older. Sob.

    If only there were a buckling system that would make this work so much better than a knot…

    • @daniellemiller7696
      @daniellemiller7696 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well gee you know there is! The reason I don’t use the “buckling system” is because it causes people to force the cinch tight abruptly to get the tongue of the cinch ring to a certain hole and with the pressure much lower, pulling the horse off balance and potentially creating a “cinchy” horse. This method works more smoothly for me and I have done it this way for over 40 years. You can do whatever works best for you, I’m sharing my experience. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. 🤠

A well prepared horse will rarely break or even open one of these clips and it prevents a set back disaster. Yes they are spreading more and more ever since this: "Rosy-faced Lovebirds are pet trade escapees native to southwestern Africa that were first documented in Phoenix in the 1980s. They've flourished in the city, where they nest in cavities in ornamental palm trees and native cacti, and their population is now estimated at more than 2,000 individuals."

  • @penelopelopez8296

    • @dshe8637
      @dshe8637 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      People breed this deliberately because they want the look that comes with it. It could be eliminated easily by not breeding any horse who carries it.

      HI! So at the end of the western dressage video tests, they are doing a tack inspection. They look at the spurs as well and are checking to make sure two fingers fit inside your bosal. If you are riding in a bit you have to unbridle and show the bit you're using. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

    • @daniellemiller7696
      @daniellemiller7696 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrMrlambrose thank you for commenting and I'm glad my video helped you! Remember you want to make the rack a good place to go, so be real honest with yourself if you think your horse might not like the water being sprayed on certain parts of his body or if he has ever slipped in the rack. He will need to come up off of pressure from the lead rope and you can aid that with the end of a rope or whip to reinforce, but ultimately the release in the pressure on his halter is what teaches him to stay up where you want him. A little treat sure won't hurt- it won't work as a bribe but can reinforce his effort to step forward and make it a positive place to hang out :)

      @@karenvalli7659 it isn’t necessary to test EVERY horse, only those with Impressive in the pedigree and if parents tested negative for HYPP then it isn’t necessary to test any more. Even with a positive horse bred to a positive horse there is only a 25% - 50% chance of getting a positive testing offspring, depending on if the parents are double or single negative. However these episodes can be avoided even in a positive horse if fed the correct type of hay. Obviously this horse was fed the wrong feed to cause such an episode. Did the owner tell the barn owner this horse was positive so that alfalfa hay would not be fed to this horse?
