LOL. that gate does open more, you just got to PULL!! I saw one of the guys in my group actually take his pack off and slide through as I was walking up to it. then I grabbed hold of it and just yanked it hard. opened right up..... hahaha.

Well done. Congrats on completing the OT. Good luck on the PCT. In my opinion, hiking the OT a little earlier in the year is ideal. Daytime temps are usually between 40-60° and night time temps between 20-40. No bugs, the trail is not overgrown, and you don't die of heat and humidity. Haha. On your Day 14, you guys took a couple of detours, to lake Sylvia and a liquor store. I can't hardly bring myself to take spur trails to overlooks. 😁 Also, I think at minute 6:!5 on that day 14 video, you called it Lake Saliva, which almost killed me. 🤣🤣 No one wants to go to a Lake Saliva. You were tired.

I got lucky on the crossing I head a couple days before I crossed it it was under water

3:00 That's Crystal Prong creek. When the water is high and you don't have rocks poking out to cross on, that creek is challenging to cross. The rocks are slippery and sloped. I crossed it around this time last year and it was rushing. That was the scariest river crossing I have ever done.

6:00 We passed through that section a day after it had been pouring rain and that waterfall was still just a trickle. The goofy thing about that "waterfall" is that FarOut has it marked as a reliable water source. But the little creek that is half a mile up the trail from there, which is marked as a seasonal source, seems to have a much better flow.
