A miracle has happened. My Macbook Pro A1708 wouldn't boot up after having been put to sleep, only a folder with flashing question mark would show up. I've been trying to bring it back from the dead for more than a day. Just when I had all but given up hope, I decided to try something else. I prayed to the Machine God and alas - it booted up and the screen blinked invitingly. I realize now how foolish and I arrogant I was thinking that I could fix everything. I'm a mere human and humans are nothing without the mighty Machine.

We may view technology as normal but imagine you took a laptop back in time to a medieval person. This would seem to be a magical object with a spirit.
