Sharing precious moments and useful information.
Hello, I'm Jenny from This World is Not Our Homestead
I felt like I needed to "wait" to create a homestead page until I had land and a beautiful setup, but if we wait for perfection in order to do things, we may never get started and we'd miss out on so much in life. So, I created my homesteading Facebook page, not to document perfection, but to share what I'm learning and things I have learned with others in the hopes of encouraging and equipping them to succeed in their own homesteading and homemaking journey. Thank you for being here.

Seed Unboxing Summer 2024
I've been excited to "unbox" these seeds with you. The seeds in this video are from @MIgardener , @RareSeedsBC , and @zionsgateranch.
We garden in central Arkansas.
*Update: I have no idea who "Steve Patchouki" is, the TH-cam Channel/Gardening guy that I meant to say is actually James Prigioni @jamesprigioni.

Thank you for doing an unboxing featuring our seed garlic, so cool to watch!! It looks like USPS was not so gentle and one of the Elephant bulbs broke up in shipping, I'm so sorry about that. I try to pack with newspaper etc to help prevent shaking movement in the box. Just store them in a cool, dark place and you can plant them this Fall. :-) We loved seeing the other seeds you bought too, and I think we will be trying a few of those on our Ozark homestead!
@@zionsgateranch you're very welcome! Your elephant garlic bulbs were definitely the star of the show in this unboxing!
Best seed unboxing ever!
Thank you!
I just ordered a lot of seeds from MI Gardener. I'm growing the dragon tongue beans again this year- I love them. And you all will love the cucamelons. They make the perfect garden snack- mine never made it inside the house. Haha
@@angela_burch I ordered more seeds from MIgardener just yesterday because of the sale he was having! Unfortunately those seeds couldn't make it here in time for this seed unboxing video. I'm quite excited about an unusual plant that is said to taste like a cross between a sweet potato and a water crescent!
What a pretty turkey! And that bird is crazy.
@@earl0fBronze haha
How do I stop grasshoppers from eating all my peppers???
@@anichole113 they can certainly be pests! You can try sprinkling food grade diatomaceous earth over the plant, but it gets wash away with rain or watering. You could make a spray mixture with things that naturally repel them and spray your plants with the mixture after straining out the chunks of garlic and whatever else you have on hand that the internet says repels them. A fly swatter is an option if they're easy to get up close to. I hope you find something that works! I know soapy water is effective at eliminating many bugs, but don't use vinegar. Vinegar will hurt your plants. If using a spray, don't spray during the hottest part of the day or it could harm your plants by magnifying the sunlight on their leaves.
Great harvest family. God bless.
@@1Gibson thank you!
Great harvest!
@@user-sq4fr8db4k thank you Tena!
What was the recipe for the Balsamic Vinegar egg?
@@shorty7771000 boil eggs to your preference, peel them, then place in a jar (or other container), pour balsamic vinegar into the jar until the eggs are covered, and leave them for two weeks in a refrigerator to pickle. That's it! If you want to add some additional salt or spices, do this when you add the vinegar.
My memories of digging potatoes was not one of fun- but just work that I hated. It's wonderful to see how you've instilled in your kids that while gardening is work, it can be fun, too! Both potato varieties are pretty, but I think the purple ones are my favorite. I've never eaten them before- I wonder if they taste similar?
@@angela_burch I feel that way about folding socks. The varieties do taste similar, so much so that I'm not confident I'd be able to tell them apart in a blind taste test. I wish the Purple's had done better, I do really love their color.
Awesome video!
@@earl0fBronze thank you!
It's with the effort😄
When you breathe deeply you're intaking more oxygen and exhaling the carbon dioxide. Do this long enough and the natural balance will be thrown off which will leave you light headed. 😊
You can overdose on anything if you try hard enough
you mad cute.
Specific flowers & plants are hallucinogenic, I currently have a Datura flower growing. I’m unsure if any flowers with the hallucinogenic properties would do anything with just sniffing it. What kind of flowers do you have?
I guess there was a case with angels trumpet so it’s possible if it’s a poisonous flower.
@@amandagillman7228 that is very interesting, thank you for sharing! These are asparagus/yardlong bean flowers. I don't believe they're in any way mind altering aside from the joy that comes from their fragrance. They bloom for such a short time since the ants are so quick to pollinate them.
Soon as I was saying you cooked tf outta that bacon you noted that u may have over cooked it lmaooo 😂

So precious baby!❤🎉🙌
Super cute. Just talking
Shs singin mama!! ❤❤

that is so cute
I would be sooo scared if a chicken went on my head, my hair would be ruined 👁👄👁
It definitely could pose a risk to some well styled hair.
That’s cool.
I wish I had caught him as he flew up there, but this was his first time to do it. Maybe I'll be able to get a recording of one of our chickens doing it someday!
My 3 hens do the same to me.
Should have said The cabbage patch😂❤
A pee pod. Yes i spelled it correctly.😊
SAD YOU THINK THAYS FUNNY
I'm sorry that your misunderstanding of this video caused you grief. This was a staged video intended to be humorous. My husband gently set our daughter down into the potato bed and then picked her up again as if he had found her there. She was not abandoned or made to be uncomfortable in any way.
Ill take her😊
It looks like shit

What no bunnies? 😂
I have babies! I could definitely do a bouncy baby reel.
Great tip! I love the sound of the incubator fan running in the background ❤
Thank you and good ear! My phone was sitting on an incubator that was in lockdown.
Looking good!
Thank you!
Double yolk no way
Yummy, nothing better than fresh bread
Nice seed haul! The turkish eggplant looks interesting. 😀
It had excellent reviews on MIgardener, but a decent amount of bad reviews on Baker Creek. I will try to remember to update about all the new varieties I'm growing once we're able to taste everything!
Oh bless your heart!!!!! I ❤ it! You are the best😂
😘👌 That's how we do it! Made a fresh loaf this morning!
Is there a recipe for this bread?
I'm working on minor adjustments and plan to put out a full recipe and video tutorial on my channel soon.
Pretty!!🤩
Thank you!
We are E TN zone 7a. For green / snap beans, we have found that Blue Lake Pole Beans are the most prolific - and they are stringless. We plant the beans at the base of both sides of the trellis and water well. 2 - 3 weeks later, we plant more beans - by this time, the beans we planted are up and we fill in between. 2 - 3 weeks later, we plant a 3rd round leaving about 1 inch between plants. That is it. The first picking will disappoint with only a snack amount. After that, you will be picking beans every-other-day. Enough for fresh eating and canning / pickling. They are the only beans my grown children like because they are most like grocery store green beans on which they grew up. This year we are also going to try the Ideal Market Bean which is supposed to be very similar. We'll see...The best growing tomatoes here have been the Sungold Cherry, Thornburn's Terra-Cotta, Black Beauty, Cherokee Carbon (hybrid), Jersey Devil, Orange Strawberry, Giant Paste and Pineapple.
I think I've tried both the Blue Lake and Kentucky Pole without good results, but it could very well have been gardener error because I hear them praised often.
Yum!
