The way I understand it, while LTIR does not remove the cap hit from a team's overall cap usage, it does potentially allow the team to exceed the salary cap. While on LTIR, cap space is no longer accrued meaning any portion of the LTIR pool not used cannot be used later. Teams are hesitant to put players on LTIR especially early in the season, when teams are trying to pool open cap space for use later in the season.

Re the use of a third goalie to provide practice rest for the 2 goalies, that already exists certainly for Toronto. The eBUG guy who came in and won a game a few years back also took practice time with the Leafs.

It's okay with me if they decide that Perry being in the crease meant that Vladar couldn't play his position, but they need to be consistent with that. That's an NHL problem on multiple rules. It honestly feels like different ref teams have different understandings of what the rules even are. For example, in that same Flames vs Oilers game, an Oiler went to block a shot and took the feet out from under the shooter while in the shot block slide. So is that tripping or not? I thought the rule for the past few seasons is that it doesn't matter if you hit the puck, if you take the shooter down by taking their feet out with a shot block, you should be called for tripping. In this game, no call. Same goes for when a stick is slashed out of the hands. For some ref teams it seems like an automatic slashing call, for others, they say 'hold on to your stick'. I don't know why it's so hard for the NHL to get all refs on the same page.

I liked the call because goalies have to put up with enough bullshit from players I think they should bring back the stay outta the crease rule

I believe Ray Ferraro hates that the Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup and he was utterly biased against the Cats in the Finals and throughout the playoffs. Even in the recent interview with Paul Maurice, Ferraro’s disdain was all over his face.

Dregs if you're gonna talk #Habs well do your research first that would give some context as to why Xhekaj did what he did. Laine was welcomed as a hero in Montreal. When Paré took Laine's knees out all felt the ceiling just dropped on our heads. Then Paré was invited multiple times in the game but refused to drop the gloves so later in the game Xhekaj did what he did. On Dach, he missed the whole season last year. So when Greig dropped him with a late hit and Dach labored to get up again all said oh no not again. Greig was invited but refused to drop the gloves. "The code" you run one of our best player we'll do the same. Xhekaj took it to Stutzle. So CONTEXT is a beautiful thing.

The hypocrisy of TSN on these plays is beyond belief. If Habs do it, it’s a dirty hit and needs a suspension. If it happens to Habs, it’s a hockey play and you need to keep your head up. If Xhekaj jumps Pare to send a message, it’s Steven Moore. If Tkachuk jumps Xhekaj, crickets. It’s hockey. If Stutzle had gotten injured, it’s 4-6 games. If Laine gets injured, not even a penalty on the play. If the refs make consistent calls, maybe Xhekaj wouldn’t need to send messages. So maybe TSN can call out the refs.
