Pacific Coast Highway reopens | Drive from Malibu to Santa Monica on PCH reveals devastation.
Our hearts break for the victims of the fires in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Altadena and elsewhere.
For the first time in almost a month, PCH through the fire zone opened to the public again (briefly) on February 2. It was set to close again for a few days beginning February 3 because of rain.
The first section of this video is a full drive from around Pepperdine/the Michael Landon Community Center south to the Santa Monica Pier.
Second section is the return trip.
Whether from the area or the occasional visitor, this is a familiar stretch of road.
It boggles the mind to see all that’s been destroyed.
Please consider donating to redcross.org or the vetted charity of choice that’s helping with fire relief.
Animals are affected by wildfires, too. So if you care about critters, American Humane Society or a similar organization could sure use your help.

WOW! I just 'found' you! The Polynesian Resort? was never an area that I could afford (sigh), but, always dreamed about being able to visit - someday! LOL I was a cast member at Epcot in the 90's, and a park visitor since '72 - when I could afford the admission...When I grew up? (LOL) and moved further away from the sunshine state (where I grew up - Miami - in the 50s/60s),,,my 'dream' also grew further away! sigh , , , so happy now to be able to 'visit' via folks like you! Thanx a million for sharing your access with people like me! who are now: too poor, too infirm, or too far away to return - to the "happiest place on earth"! :>)

They’re… just fine. I tend to start at Fluid State, walk the street, then hit Ventiki after doing a loop. Staff attitudes wildly fluctuate there.
Just out of curiosity, why are people wearing masks still?
There has been an uptick in COVID here in FL. It is all personal choice to wear one or not now. No one is being forced, It is cool by me. I don't wear one, for now.

That wallpaper is perfect. Is it really that easy? I have a few bathrooms that I’d like to wallpaper.
It is! I did one wall in an hour. The other in 2.5-but that included yanking the toilet. (Vacation Mike can do that part!😜) One thing I wish I’d known: because Spoonflower makes its peel-and-stick paper to overlap instead of butt up, your light source COULD illuminate the bare edge. So, if you already know how your main light source “falls” on the wall you’re papering, apply your paper so the bare edge is away from the light source. That way, the bare edge will be in shadow rather than in light. I didn’t know what the lighting was going to be until after I started, so there is an edge that’s visible under direct light. Fortunately there’s a lot of art that will be going up, so the bare edge in question should be hidden. Pixie dusted away as us Disney fans might say.

At the Palm Breeze Bar? Or Sam’s? That was a crazy day. I have been to the resort countless times, covered many events, openings, re-themings, etc., and this day was tornadic almost!

Hey Adi! I hate cilantro with a passion. At a newspaper I once worked for, I wrote an entire column on my dislike of cilantro, or as I call it, Devil Weed. Here’s the funny thing: the largest producers in California, my home state, are Ventura, Monterey, Santa Barbara and San Benito counties. I have worked for news organizations in two of those counties!
