Discover Fascinating History of Nobbys Beach, Newcastle, NSW!
Nobbys Beach is a popular destination for locals and tourists in Newcastle, NSW, Australia. Known for its pristine shores, excellent swimming and surfing conditions, and scenic picnic areas, it is an ideal spot for a day of outdoor fun.
The history of Nobbys Beach is intrinsically linked to the construction of the Macquarie Pier, which was built in the early 1800s to protect ships entering the harbor. The pier played a crucial role in creating the sandy shoreline that we know today and has also become a popular fishing spot for locals.
One of the most famous events in Nobbys Beach's history is the grounding of the Pasha Bulka, a bulk carrier ship that ran aground during a fierce storm in 2007. The image of the massive ship stuck on the beach drew international attention and has become a part of the area's lore.
Not only does Nobbys Beach offer a beautiful natural setting, but it also provides a glimpse into the region's maritime past. Visitors can explore the historic pier and imagine the ships that once passed through this area, making it a unique and enriching experience.

Amazing. I missed it when i was in Broken hill last jan.
I live in stockton and volunteer in a non profit organisation, it’s 4 generations deep here and a wonderful life . Twas a wonderful perspective from the outside in , good job ❤️
Sorry but I almost fell asleep listening to your video
Thanks for taking me back home :)
You want the real story. We sold sea sand that was dredged off shore to Saudi Arabia for the islands off shore to build an artificial land to sell plots to the rich. So now what happens when you remove sand it moves whole beaches and of course they will scream climate change oh no.....
I lived there for 3 years from 1972. I wish this was around back then! Great video too.
Thank you.
Love it ha
Fascinating 😊
It's definitely fascinating to see such a diverse collection of items all gathered by one person.
And met Bob
Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Bob his son was the one working when we stopped by.
I've been there and seen it in the flesh.
That small grocery store l can remember them been like that in the 1960s
Thank you for posting.
You're welcome
How does someone collect all that.
It's mind boggling how one person could amass the amount of memorabilia that in Bob's Shed.
Looks like the corner shop when I was a small boy in the early fifties.
My corner store as well and I remember working in the store and packing biscuits from the Arnott's tins into paper bags.
Great place of interest and collection
A very interesting place and a huge conglomerate of memorabilia.
What an amazing collection bob has , I am always amazed by some people and what they have managed to put together Great little video 👍👍
Yes it is amazing, there is so much to see we did not leave ourselves enough time to see all
Great vlog, thanks you for taking us on your tour 🤗👍🏽
Our pleasure
A great contributor to national wealth.
The people that took all the "resources" from this land and from the indigenous people had no right doing it, it's not their land and as far as legal goes that's as crazy as saying they own the land, they were greedy and heartless in their mining industry. It's shameful that the word mining is an excuse for taking what ever you want
Thank you for sharing you thoughts!
I was there about a month ago beautiful little friendly town
Great video, very informative. We're you able to take your dog on the fish trap tour?
You can take a dog to the fish traps however, you can not take them on the Aboriginal Museum Tour.
Your videos are excellent and very informative.
We appreciate your feedback.Thankyou
Nice video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
I was there with mining work about 5 years ago
Cobar gave off a vibe of being an great outback town to work
MY HOME TOWN..
A great Hometown
I hope they sold Cornish Pasties
Cornish are renowned for being short, so maybe they would fit in those huts lying down. Possible they put a board up during sleep times.
Haha, you might be onto something with the sleeping arrangements in those huts!
We are looking at doing the Darling River Run from Melbourne in August this year. Trilby Station is on top of the list to stay at. Thanks for the great information.
And yummy scones jam and cream
Unfortunately no scones on the day we visited, However, there were great cakes,
How cool thanks
Glad you liked it
😊great place for a couple of days
Yes it was!
Kick it in the guts, Barry...😎
"Ah, classic Mad Max! Barry's always ready to kick it into top gear.. 🚔
Whats the road like to get there And cost to stay there
We paid $25 per day for an unpowered site at the Billabong. I believe it's $35 for a powered site, but I'm not sure about the cabins. If you're coming from Louth, it's about 20 kilometers of dirt road. However, it's not a bad road at all. We were able to take our standard on-road van along this road a couple of years ago when we first visited Trilby.
Good vid. You didnt mention the kangaroo that died in the laundry years ago & the room still stinks.
We dodged a bullet by not using the laundry - lucky us for missing out on that smelly roo!
Amazing that the whole city is heritage listed!
It really is!
Love Trilby Station very keen to get back out there
We love this place as well. This was our second trip to Trilby.
I'd believe that bus story 100%😅 be something even us kiwi's would have done,if someone hasn't done it already, without owning up 😂,gotta love stories like that
Absolutely! Kiwis and aussies always up fo a good laugh and a good story.
Nice content thanks
Glad you like it
Great overview. Its such a beautiful spot on the river isnt it! We stayed there during our Darling River run late last year. You can see our experience here th-cam.com/video/NcZxcGX5YX8/w-d-xo.html
It certainly is a great spot, this was our second vist to Trilby
Very interesting, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very rich history
Amazing that the children's centre is still going
How exciting 😀 👌

Good tip to keep driving, and ignore the navman!
Exactly!
Very cool artwork
Looks like a great campsite
Appreciate the detailed run down 👍
