Thanks for sharing learned much about repotting and roots rotting 😊
Just get to the point
Hi Mani, from Pearly Beach, i love your energy and content, thank you
Thanks so much! Enjoy your clivias. 🌷
Thank you! This was very helpful!
Just found your channel and subscribed! Thanks for all the great advice! I have been growing clivia for more than a couple decades now. Lost a lot of choice plants (for here in US) due to mistakes and unexpected cold snaps. But those mistakes taught me a lot! Anyway, I am trying to be more consistent with healthy habits of feeding, watering and when to place outside and when to take them back inside to avoid unexpected freeze. Hoping to get them to bloom at some point. They used to bloom twice a year when I had northern exposure, but now with eastern exposure, they haven't bloomed once. I don't feed them properly, so your expertise really helps!
You should remove the seedhead as it drains energy from the plant.
doesnt cinnamon cause mold in the soil when it gets wet?
When you live life through love everything will grow! Thankyou for sharing! GoodVibes
Hi Manie, all my clivias are planted directly into the ground, my question is…How do I know that my clivias are getting enough water, I know they don’t like wet feet so I don’t soak them just give them a light watering…I’ve just transplanted then, using antibacterial dishwater and covered the roots with cinnamon, previously they were just left to fend for themselves and they survived with coastal showers …..but now they in a new place…I’ve just started buying the colours so I’ve become a bit more concerned that I’m doing the right thing…thank you Manie…love your show…
Love it , and how to plant the seeds
Hi Manie! I’m enjoying all of your Clivia videos. Despite carefully following all instructions I’ve had zero success. Most seeds seem to have dried up, even though I’m misting every morning. I have 3 seeds still looking fine, but no signs of germination. Any suggestions you might have would be great appreciated.
Hi Manie, I've watched your video's and even the 2nd or 3rd time there's always something thats helpful that I've missed. Its great that you pass on garden knowledge. If we don't its lost to the next generation. I'm about to pot up seedlings I've had in trays for 2 years following the steps from your video's. Thanks for making the video's.
When do you replant the seedlings in individual pots
Nice, love to see it 😉 keep it up!
Thanks, I'll go planting.
Hi. I noticed you don't really answer people's questions in your comment section but I'm going to give it a try in hopes that you will. Will clivia seeds work if the seed pods were harvested from the stock while still green? I harvested them when they were green and hard. I put them in a brown paper bag for about 1-2 months and they seem to be ripening by turning red and softening. I'm wondering if the seeds will be ok if they were harvested while being green? Thank you!
Thank you so much for your very informative videos, I had a problem this week with a bit of root rot and has just watched your video so jumped into action, I’ve grown clivias for a few years but basically planted and left to sort themselves out and they’ve bloomed in spite of my neglect, however I’m inspired to take my clivias more seriously and have started buying the colours…my soil is well draining as we live at coast so quite sandy…two questions..1 please can you do video for directly planted clivias, eg. Water, light etc. and 2. Have you written a handbook as I think a lot of people would be interested in having one on hand..thank you again, your videos are such a help…
Thank you for this video. I was looking for a video about this problem. I'm going to do it that way too. Can I ask a question? Can i also keep the potting soil of a clivia too dry? In the Netherlands it is taught that a clivia must have dry ground. I personally believe that is incorrect! That too dry soil also causes the roots to die. I keep them moist. But I did get root rot on some of them. When I see your video it is more likely a fungal or bacterial problem. Is that correct? Kind regards Rene Feedback
Marnie, thank you for the explanation, but I need some advice please. I planted my seeds into the mix and put the lid on but I have noticed after 2 weeks that some of the seeds have got fur from mold on them, what is your advice on this situation please?
Hello from Australia! Thank you so much for this video Marnie, I love watching and learning how to look after my Clivia I am starting to get different colours now and I am excited but impatient for them to flower :)
How did you collect your pollen? Thanks
Great! I received 20, 2 leaf, 6-12 inches tall, clivia seedlings today and am researchig repotting them. 😊
Why not then just add it to germinating seeds to fight off fungal rotting, especially when germinating them in Ziplock bags?
Hey man can you help me to start my clivias collection. I'm in Belgium , Europe
Hey I from Be6in Europe And I would like to start a collection of Clivias. Here we only have the normal orange/red one. And I would like to have the yellow one ans also the others colors. Can you help me ? Thanks a lot
Kan mens maar sommer algemeen net bietjie cinnamin op jou grond gooi om die Clevias te boost? Ek is nou maar nuut in die ding.
Hi Manie, my seeds often don't have a clearly defined dark spot just a raised lump at either end which makes it difficult to determine which end should be facing downwards. When this happens I plant them sideways and hope for the best. Any advice?
Hi Manie What is your growing/ germinating mixture. Andrew from Cape Town
Thanks for information Maanie I am new to clivias I have planted some now and will add some bone meal to the pots I am excited about clivias
Your videos are so interesting and I’m learning a lot. Thank you.
My clivias had white cotton things on them, what can i use
My clivias got white looks like cotton wool what can i spray
Is it true that if you replant them it takes 5 years before flowering
Why do I get mould on the seedlings
That pollen on the tube, is that fresh? How old from flower opening be ideal for pollinating?
Мани, привет, классные кливии. У меня тоже есть такие растения. Расскажи пожалуйста в какие месяцы года ты обильно поливаешь кливии. Я живу в России и у нас весна в доугое время, а это очень влияет на уход за кливиями.
Thanks!!!
Thanks for a great video!
Thank forthe tip,s on saving the plant roots, much appreciate
How much water do you water and how often ? I have two large yellow leaves should I cut them off?
I saved a clivia today that needs repotting. Thank you for showing so much detail! I live in Vienna/Austria and will need to figure out which spot in the garden is best and where to put it in the house in winter. I will see if there are other helpful video on your channel. All the best!
We have half a dozen in our garden room and they give us weeks of pleasure and so easy to look after.
What else will eat the leaves?
What mixture do you use please.
Can you please advise on watering summer and winter?
They look so good, I just wanna eat them. Are they edible?
Thanks for sharing that it's not easy even for an expert! How about some tips for collecting pollen from species other than miniata for storage. I am struggling with your tube method of snapping anthers off with the cap on narrow flowers.
Very informative. Thanks for imparting your experiences
