Richar Rohr - Contemplative Prayer
มุมมอง 500K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Probably my favourite Richard Rohr video in which he outlines the basis for the contemplative or mystic outlook of our existence. There is white board action. Such a good speaker.

A prayer for this tired and worn out planet and its weird and crazy inhabitants. Peace for your christmas and beauty for your new years. xo JP Buffalo

Whenever we hear or read anything of a spiritual nature that is very moving or even jolting it’s not that you are learning something new - it’s more a remembering of something we have always known.

The problem is a lot of Churches, denominations, teachings tend to tell us and hammer in separation. We are absolutely never alone and never have been. If we believe the lie and delusion of separation then that is what we get or the reality we live out. "As Man Thinks, So Is" read the book of John it will blow away any separation

Jesus stood on the shore of Galilee. It was dark. They did not know it was him. He asked them how were things. They said not bad but bad enough. He said why dont you cast your net on the right side of your boat. They did so and could hardly lift their nets. John then reecognised Jesus and said "It is the Lord". God revealed himself in Jesus, the Word made flesh. Meditate quietly on whatJesus said and did. I call you friends becauseIhave shared with you everything the Fatherhas shared with me😊

So this must be about 2001, going by his reference to Mother Teresa dying 4 years previously. Father Richard in his prime - the earliest talk I've seen of his - and already transforming hearts and souls with his exquisite wisdom, insight and inspirational message! 💖💖💖

Awesome Mystic Brother. Thankyou and thank God for you. You are far from the unenlightened fundamentalists that talk against you ..if they had any insight and wisdom they would see the truth if what you are showing us...this is what I have needed to love and follow Christ and love the great mystics in all cultures and faiths...Big love...Nathanael 🙏🧘💆✝️

I really dont know who i am. I wonder about my sincerity. Sometimes i think id have little to no desire for a contemplative life if id not been thru invalidity driven to search for god connection. If i were 25 tomorrow i think id be travelling having fun tasting rio carnival indian ashrams gastromomic pleasures of Provence beauty of Cartibean Islands alone or with some wonderful man or meetinh wonderful people Then God would be on the back burner if i found real Love while travelling even if i kept moving like Freebird.

Thank God for Richard‘s talent to be able to explain this in words to the best of the ability of words to convey it. The end state that is to be pursued through contemplative prayer, that of Being, in blissful union with God, is indescribable with words.

LOVE Richard, but it sounds strange to say religion(s) from India have a, “profound sense of unity” when there’s an actual Caste SYSTEM in tact, FULLY Enforced. NO exceptions. Been there more than once & I can assure you I found NOTHING of the kind.

Richard always lifts up the best in a person or tradition. Gandhi had to go way back to find nonviolence in Hinduism, but he found it. Plenty of terror in every other tradition, Catholics competing for worst. It's a tiny minority in every stream that finds the Way, but that's enough.

Eve and Adam ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They existed with God in innocence before they ate because they never questioned what God said they took it as gospel. We can only find God in what He breathed in Adam. God is in the breath and that is true life. I find truth within, outside of knowledge, because knowledge puffs up but love edifies. God is within, be still and know that I am God.

Many evangelical Christians I experienced as departmentalised solidified people. They were rigid judgmental and often joyless. A decade ago a beautiful nun gave me a book to read by Father Richard Rohr. Initially I didn't understand his teachings. Now I do. I believe this has meant for me the dying of the ego. The letting the Trinity into my life. It has been very costly I was married to a CE priest who never prayed or studied the Bible. Sadly he hid behind those labels.."I'm a religious person, a good person and loyal.." as Richard describes so well. I divorced my ex after much abuse emotionally and psychologically...its been a long journey...transformation is essential in every human being.
