I am so happy to be able to attend this incredible Chopin competition. Thanks so much!
Great performance and master class. Congratulations. Thanks so much!
Thank you!
This is a great setup! What cameras did you use for the various piano views? Did they connect to the Extron switcher via HDMI?
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I no longer work there, but I can give you some information. Cameras Axis Communications Network camera, with HDMI out, 2MP, 1080p.
Que bueno Oscar !! Que andes por acá haciendo cosas lindas y compartiendo todo lo que sabes. Una alegría inmensa. Que se repita siempre. Abrazo
Gracias Javier! un gran abrazo.
Beautiful interpretation Dr. Macchioni. It's been a long time since i heard you play. Hope you make it to Juarez again!
Some day. I’m moving to Denton.
Incredible insight, Dr. Macchioni! The way you intertwine tips for performance and discussion of the form makes it very useful to justify the performance choices. The codetta that is transposed at the end before the final cadence is a great way to shape the overall unitary form.
Thank you Alex. I hope you are doing great. Best
❤👏👏👏👏
Beautiful ❤️🎹🎵
Un compositor que ameritaría ser más conocido
Hermoso
Hello I still go back to this video when I am having a bad day. Helps validate my feelings of dread. Amazing work
Passacalia next
Frantastic - shades of Scriabin (the constant "rising") and Rachmaninoff (complex harmonics). Beautiful.
Thank you!!!
Beautiful!
Thank you!!!
I'm planning on learning this song later. How long did it take to perfect?
No one can ever perfect this piece!!! Months, years, a whole life. Be happy just to play it

Thank you for acquiring all of these amazing sophisticated equipment for us to use at UTEP Dr. Macchioni! This is one of my favorite music room/lab in the campus
Thank you Jonathan. I hope you are doing well.
Beautiful playing. What did you use to capture the close up recording of your fingers? Where did you place that microphone and camera? For this recording, it looks as though you filmed from three angels. What were your camera and microphone placement locations. For the sound that I am hearing, which microphone did you use to record the sound, is it a blend of different microphones?
Hi Mary, I used and iPhone 11 for the main view with a Shure MV51 mic attached to it, about 6-8 feet away from the opening of the piano, and 5 feet above ground. I used an iPhone 10 for the closeup fingers, which was taped to the other piano, you can see it if you watch carefully; and an iPad Pro from the back of the piano on a stand. I used only the sound of the shure mic and added the other views using a video editing program.
Beautiful playing. Where did you put your microphone (distance from the piano, height from the ground).
Thank you Mary! For this Nocturne I placed the mic about 3 feet from the opening of the piano and about 5 feet from the ground. I mistakenly used the setting for voice. In Nocturne op 9 no 3, I used the right setting, acoustic music, and I placed the mic about 6-7 feet from the piano opening, again 5 feet from the floor. I do hear a difference. No. 1 is more in your face, no. 3 less brilliant. Mic level was about 50%
