Rusty strings and rusty playing, but it should show the mando and how it sounds. MZ, model F5 Premium, 2020. I have no gain from posting this video, other than sharing what this mandolin sounds like, there's not too much info about MZ out there.

Not mine, but showing this off as there's not a lot of info about these out there. Pretty neat mandolin. Tone bar bracing, radius fingerboard, cast tailpiece. Fit and finish is great. Apparently made in China by a former employee of Northfield mandolins. (I don't own this mandolin, and I have no financial or other gain from making this video)

No. 306, model F5v, 2011. Handmade by Pavel Janish, Czech Republic. This mandolin is X-braced, had slight radiused fingerboard, wide nut (30 mm), and a really beefy tone on the darker side (but listen for yourself). Tight grained Spruce top Flamed neck, back and sides Ebony fingerboard, compound radius EVO Gold frets Rubner tuners French polish finish James tailpiece J.J. Ryan armrest This is how it sounds with old strings, nice and dry. Loud mando up and down the fretboard.

I don't own this mando anymore, but leaving the video up for other Robertson fans out there. This mando is LOUD when pushed, pretty dry pop. Varnish finish, 29 mm nut, V-neck, plenty of dings and dongs and roughly made, but plays well. S/N #66.

Great playing
I only wish that I could afford a mandolin from this master luthier. Stephen's instruments will long be remembered by many of the talented players who were lucky enough to play them. The sound from these instruments are certainly on a par with what Lloyd Loar and few others attained through painstaking trial and error. What wonderful sound and sustain!

I came upon this video by chance - what an inspiration! I'll never be able to afford a Gilchrist mandolin - and my playing does not deserve one - but this video has inspired me to do everything to play as well as I can on the instruments I am fortunate to own. Thanks !
Any change in the world you could get me in contact with the person owning it? I have been looking for a high end (woody sounding) mando for a while now in Europe and it seems to be getting harder and harder.
Nope, I'm pretty sure the owner does not have this instrument any more. I did send you comment on FB about a MZ that's here in Copenhagen, but you never responded. There's a few good mandos out there - happy hunting!

It's in very rough condition, so not sure it would be fair to a buyer, as it means a lot to me and would need to be more expensive than similar style of box.

I had one of these boxes exactly the same which unfortunately went in the skip apart from the reeds. Shame but sometimes they are just not a doable project
This one was saved from the dump, held together by wood filler and chewing gum when it got to me. But with some donor parts and patience, it's back in action. They sound like nothing else.
Ordered one today.
