In October 2024 the shuttle service in the Namib Desert changed, it used to run from the 2x4 parking area to the 4x4 parking area and back but now it runs from Sesriem camp to the 4x4 parking area and from Dune 45 to the 4x4 parking area, this video may help you choose which is best for you. Is it safe to get to Olifantsrus in a 2x4? We have a Toyota Hilux. Is has different lock and traction control but is not 4x4. Would love your guidence on this
All of the roads in Etosha are graded gravel roads which you can drive on in a normal sedan car however there are distinct advantages to different vehicles!
You will have no problem getting to Olifantsrus in your Hilux, I took a 2wd VW Kombi there with no issues. I hope you have a fantastic time and see lots of animals. If you have any more questions about Olifantsrus, Etosha or Namibia please let me know. Happy travels, Simon
