After getting some frankly outrageous quotes for what I considered a simple kitchen refurb I decided I would 'do it myself' and replace/remodel the kitchen over the winter months. I failed to anticipate the biggest problem - that being the expectation that you can carry on living as normal whilst doing such a job. We got there in the end though!

Passed my test on one of them in 1981a z250 scorpion.found it a bit under powered compared to the 250 two strokes I had before plus the baffles blew out at the Isle of man struggling up the hills.swapped it in for a Kawasaki S3.
@@LucyWalls-qj1ng agree absolutely, they need to be ridden very hard to maintain momentum. You may note I was 'pottering' along but it struggles if you up the pace!
Pleased the front brake job was successful Battery charging next !!
Yes that battery is some years old and had not been charged for ages, I'm just pleased with the front brake - best its ever been!
I've just switched to it on my push bike (which I know is not subject to the kind of stresses experienced on a motorcycle chain) but it does seem to be a bit of a leap of faith. Having said that, the chain was previously sat in its own grinding paste which I cannot imagine was doing any good. Bicycle chain wear is a thing though and can be an expensive thing at that so fingers crossed.
That could be a good use of this product, cycles probably pick up more grit in a shorter time span so the 'less is more' may prove beneficial. That said m/cycle chains are pre greased so lubrication may be an issue - good luck!
Interesting video and well worth investigating the problem, new bearings always worthwhile, hopefully you have cured the problem.
Looked for this video with the same concern 😏 used to use wurth wax before but they stopped making it 🙄
Wow.. i m finding one here in Germany to use it to go to office as an everyday ride...Since there is around 10kms Autobahn on the way, i want to ask what is a good top speed on which it will cruise without any problems on highway.. Does it do atleast around 80kmph ? PS: I know these machines are not meant for speed but it would be great to know if i could also use it for short distances on German highways which are notoriously super fast for classic bikes..
Hmm I'm not sure it would be too happy for big miles but it quite happy at the 50-60mph range (c80 - 96km) but the issue would be getting up to speed with traffic. Note this model has road going gearing and the WD version is I think lower geared.
@@martynpriddy1006 The more limitations I come across, the more irrestible this motorcycle is becoming :D .. Thanks for the headsup Martyn.. Cheers
I did this and it actually moved out. Very confusing.
I'm struggling to think of a reason for that!
@@martynpriddy1006 I thought maybe it was too tight already and releasing it pushed it out a few millimeters. Strangely, the chain noise seems to be a little quieter now?! Oh well, the fact that it runs nicely after being parked since 1981, I'll let it make a little noise. Thx
It's flammable. Highly flammable and toxic.
Hopefully stop the over oiling problem, as you said the only way the primary side can pressurise is if the crankshaft seal is letting by.
I just got the same bike the engine wiring is a fucking nightmare smh

Great detailed review
Great to see the oldie's out and about, bike's look cool as well 😅
I had a green Z250a from new, FRY750V, great bike, only let me down twice. First time the crank bearings went but got me home, was a fault on the A models and done under warranty at Russels in Loughborough. Second time in Belgium at a rally and was towed by Terry Snelling form motorcycle news back to Callis, then RAC home. Found a spilt cab diaphragm. Other than that went all over Europe and Britain on it. In 3 years did over 100.000 miles. Do wish I kept it. Still have the Kawasaki service , Manual for it.
@@grahamsgoodies7531 100k! I'm a bit ashamed to say I don't go far on mine! Still a bit shy of revving it (used to bigger bikes) but seems happier when spinning a bit!
Excellent video. Hope the guy who took a tumble is ok
Thanks, as far as we know he's fine and busy fixing the bike!
Looks like you have some lovely ride options around there. I had a Drift back in the day, but quite quickly was seduced by the quality and features of GoPros. Having tried videoing rides for many years, as you say, the stabilisation on recent tech is an absolute game changer making just about any mounting viable. Now I attach a GoPro 10 to my chin guard with a short linkage. As for battery life, if I want to go further than an hour or so I run a USB lead to a battery in a jacket pocket. They do have their overheating issues, etc, though the recent Hero 12 is better, but The DJI Osmo Action 4 is a good modern option too that doesn't overheat and has longer-lasting batteries. A recent discovery I made is a foam wind jammer that goes around the GoPro and makes the sound of engine/exhaust actually usable up to 50-60mph. I made a YT on it (and a few other ways of capturing audio) if you're interested in getting your bike audio in your YTs.
Yes although Reading area is very urban we can be in countryside in a very few miles, I agree the chin mount is probably optimal but the Drift works for me and gives audio - may yet invest in the media/chin mount Go Pro set up though!
@@martynpriddy1006 FYI the foam windjammer I speak of isn't the GoPro MediaMod, it's a foam housing that goes around the whole GoPro. About £6 on Amazon!
I have some biking stories from those very roads in the 1990’s The A417 streetley to wantage is amazing
Streatley across to Newbury is a favourite route with a stop at the Old Bell in Aldworth en route, road is always full of gravel though!
@@martynpriddy1006 we used to sit at the Miller of Mansfield and time each other through the loop , goring, moulsford, Wallingford by pass(when it was just completed), southstoke and back to goring 😉 fun times before cameras
Interesting to hear your views on mounting the GoPro, I tried handlebar and chest mounts but gave in to the helmet mount, mounted on the chin. Reasons for the helmet mount, the higher view point can see over hedges etc...I can also look around a little bit if there's something of interest at the side of me as I ride. Also less vibration, my go to ride is a BMW G310R, it's a single cylinder and vibrates quite a lot. When my camera was mounted to the handlebar I could run a USB lead to the camera so I didn't have to worry about battery life but luckily with my helmet mount camera I found some 2000mAh batteries that gives me a much longer video time. At the moment I'm also experimenting with the Insta360 ONE X2, image quality isn't as good in my opinion but the camera does give you more options. Ps. another good reason for the helmet mount is I also have an old BMW R100RS, so I don't have to worry about mounting the camera on that bike when I go for a ride, the camera goes where the helmet goes. Hope you find a satisfactory mount for your camera and thanks for sharing. 🙂
Yes I agree the chin mount gives best view etc but I find my Drift xl on side of helmet nearly as good with great battery life.
lol, very early on in my riding days I got knocked off by the toll booths barriers at Whitchurch - a lady lifted them to let my Dad through but came down and got me in the chest which was quite some achievement
I'm always a bit tentative!

Thanks Stuart, never seen one before and appreciate the heads up on this.
Nice video looking forward to Pt2. I've recently used the A272 and like yourself found it a little slow moving.
You could change the cheek pads before purchase the seller should change the pads to smaller size which I did .. infinity changed it and allowed to sell it with smaller pads inside without extra charge ;)
Yes but it's so comfortable and quiet I think I'll persevere!
I had a Z250 but I can’t find one like I had it was twin but all the ones I have seen look like yours
All the twin pipes have rotted away and its very difficult to find even twin downpipes (to try to adapt some generic pipes) in my opinion the single exhaust is ugly compared with twin pipes!
Good review. Thank you. I am now looking at the NXR 2, coming from a GT Air and then a GT Air 2 - both of which have leaked quite badly around the visor seals - to the point of being dangerous in my opinion. Two years on, I am wondering if the seal on the NXR 2 is still as good as it was during your review? The background to this is I am reluctant to spend more money to fix the seal problem after the GT Air 2 problems. Thanks.
Hmm not had a problem but the seal has to be maintained with a moisturiser! I notice the aerodynamics of the lid do make the lifting of the visor in rain an issue as it instantly pull rain droplets inside, the GT air is a far better helmet in my opinion but then a greater expense! You will notice a 'nuisance value' to having to remove the lid when stopping ( I have an old flip myself - AGV noisy but I love the convenience! ).
@@martynpriddy1006 Thank you for your response. The GT AIr is definitely a 'better' specified helmet, but for me, the leaking around the visor is a deal breaker, I can't justify throwing another £500+ on the GT Air 3 in the hope that it is better.
Had mine for about 9 months. My god it is a heavy bike. Iv had a few CBR 1100 blackbirds though so used to the weight. My last bike was a 2018 z1000 which in my opinion was a lot easier to ride however was cramped on the back for my pillion. I find on the GT that the front feels like its got the rake of a cruiser when turning. Bit odd really. I also find it feels quite “vibraty” 😂. It does the job i need it for but I’m still trying to figure out if i like it or not haha
Yep not an 'easy' bike to manoeuvre around. It does not turn easily (although a lot of owners say it does!) but you have to ride it the way it wants to be ridden - slow in fast out and a lot of back brake for really slow stuff. In my opinion it manages to feel heavier than it is due to a high centre of gravity!
@@martynpriddy1006 completely agree. Forget the U-turns haha
Thanks for the excellent review !
Had a new one of these, loved it. I also had a brand new Honda 400 four in blue. They were the days. 😊
That's how mine looks mate! Pretty low mileage when I picked it up (still lower than I'd like) so don't imagine they were played with. As you say, the design is supposed to allow the bags to move a bit in wind etc. to avoid that force being applied to the bike. Top box jiggles side to side too.
Just bought one, great lid. Thanks for the review.
It is always nicer if you show at least a little footage of the whole bike. From beginning to end, I could never recognize this bike if I saw it on the street. Don't omit pictures or scenes where we see the whole bike.
Hi Martyn, nice job you are doing there. Yip, this kind of work is always challenging, I did mine a couple of years ago. I left much of it as patina but done extensive mechanical work to get the bike running right. I hope you get the diaphragms, they are difficult to get and virtually no chance of the bike running well with them in good order! Look forward to see how you get on
Thanks 👍
Sounds like it's running clean mid to high rpm, could the auto advance be sticking on lo rpm.
I'm checking all again! It's missing thru the rev range though for sure!
Mate, I saw something, can't remember where now but it described that mechanism exactly as you showed it, to balance out panniers and have them "lean" with the bike. Not the sharpest razor in the pack but can't visualise it myself, you get a very small additional lean of the panniers into the corner you are taking not much more than if they were fixed 🤔 Superb bike though, only thing I don't like is the wieight but getting used to it, and if Triumph put this feature in I'm happy to accept it must be useful 😁👌👍
"promo sm" 🤔
Not sure what this applies too but thanks for the comment!
It’s in good nick , but after the classic K series the F1 was a huge step backwards , Honda 4 sales dropped 70%
Yes the design did not work IMO, all manufacturers went to a square tank look and single exhaust did not help the looks. Improvements over K were minor and it was 'old dressed as new' but good value in today's market compared with K series!
Nice job
Yep always had good service, very handy for us in Reading!
Sportsbikeshop do trade on their "impressive customer service". It seems to be part of their ethos clearly because it is good for business but that doesn't mean that they don't make a genuine effort and as a customer I appreciate that effort and do always go back to them. A good bike like a Sprint needs to be shown off in some good kit 😜😁👍
You're not the first to ask, I will try to put one together!
Thanks for the Video. A review of the bike would be nice.
Well done Martyn. I had a Z250 A, model back in 1991. 1st big bike.

Rode one from Perth to Melbourne. Ran out of fuel on the Nullarbor Plain 2km from the road house and received savage sun burn between my gloves and Levi jacket. 1979.
That's a heck of a distance from our UK perspective! I worry going 100k to the coast but it's 45+ yes old and I've had it to pieces to often!
A shame the commentary sounded like it was coming from outer space but the sound of the bike made up for it!! Lovely little Beeza the B40 For some reason the ex military ones seem best of all? Yours is running pretty sweet although sometimes seems to hiccup coming off idle? Still a great ride out, thanks for taking us along.
If your BSA leaks oil it is a good sign. If it does't leak oil it means that all the oil has leaked out. Same with the Royal Oilfield motorcycles.
Bought new the same identical 750 in spring of 1976. $2500 US dollars.
I think the F1, especially in red , was way better looking than the K series. Gorgeous.
