    The first thing you are gonna do is unplug the old one or flip the breaker off if it’s hardwired. :)

    Thanks for video. You forgot the chewing gum. It is critically important to always chew a wad of gum and install it under each screw between the stud and the drywall. Double bubble is preferred. Happy chewing

    disposals are notorious for rusting out and causing damage. Ours was leaking unknown to us for a long time. So we got rid of it and just plumed in a regular drain. They really are unnecessary.

    I understand using the funnel at first to avoid spillage, but eventually you should be able to tip the mower over towards the drain pan without the funnel to get more of the old oil out. Or just skip the funnel and do this over a bunch of weeds.

    What if you don't have a pump?

    • @justcurious3525
      @justcurious3525 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed. I guess you should spend the money on a pump that you will only use once a year for 5 minutes. Maybe twice a year if you have a snow blower. Or, like this guy does you can tilt the unit for ten minutes and wipe up the small spills. Maybe he should have said "the cheap way". As a homeowner, I'm all over that idea since I don't own a shop and don't need a lot of single use tools for the couple of yearly tasks I'm faced with. I also don't buy the "kits" or manufacturer's pre-measured oil bottles. I'm smart enough to know how to measure a few ounces into a measuring container and a quart or two of the right oil does me fine each year.

    Adding the PB Blaster (Penetrating oil to penetrate THROUGH the rust to help the bolts break) did absolutely nothing except make you feel better. How do I know? When you removed the bolts, there was no oil underneath them ... the oil didn't "penetrate". You can also wash the blades with Dawn to remove the oil if your that worried about that tiny bit of oil, just make sure you bake them in the oven at a low heat to ensure they are completely dry to fight rust.

    • @TheChrisProperWay
      @TheChrisProperWay 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Baking the blades seems to be a bit of overkill, but thank you for the tip! Maybe i’ll try that in the garage oven and not the house oven.

  • @jamesyork5990

    Not saying you can't do it that way, but I've never seen anyone sharpen blades by grinding the back side first. Most sharpen beveled edge first, then hit back side lightly with file to remove wire edge. Yep, balanced blades are a lot easier on equipment and safer.

    Hi Scotty! The corrugated pipe most likely goes to a drain field somewhere (if it was done properly)! The corrugated pipe is also most likely perforated, so the water is dispersed into pea gravel or a pop up drain somewhere in your yard. You really can’t beat the old fashioned down spout extenders.

    Great video! When I moved into my home, the gutters lead to corrugated tubes that run straight into the ground to direct water away from the home, where does that water go? What about debris that goes in there from the gutters? I’ve always been nervous to use them, and I’ve always bypassed them with traditional downspouts.

    Not a great job, but should work ok. My opinion on making an improvement: Verify that those boxes are already grounded to the main panel, otherwise adding a ground wire doesn't do anything. Clean out the debris and scrape the paint off the threaded flanges. Remove the paper keepers from the screws and add metal spacers (washers, device mounting ears, etc.) to bring the device's flush with the Sheetrock for better grounding and a tighter secure mechanical fit. The contact area between the receptacle and the Sheetrock is barely there. The mid stripping of the wires on the receptacle is bad practice, especially in a single gang in my opinion. Cut the wires, re-strip, and use the second screw on each side, if the wires are long enough, otherwise just do what they did, or like you did. I don't blame you for that. Use a receptacle/GFCI tester to check for open ground after the power is restored. If the receptacle box is not grounded, use a GFCI receptacle and add the accompanying sticker "No equipment ground" to the face plate. I'm not sure, that switch you guys installed is not a 3--way, but a wifi dimmer switch with the dimmer feature disabled.
