Forging Coat Hooks even Faster by Hand
Making lots of coat hooks is well, lots of work. There are many steps to finish one hook, but this process could probably be made faster. So in this video I make a tool that will help with every part of the hook making process. This will make everything much more repeatable and efficient. Enjoy!

Early 1900's Blacksmith Vice Restoration
มุมมอง 66611 หลายเดือนก่อน
From a rusty, abandoned blacksmith vice to a functional tool that I use almost every day. I've been wanting to get one of these vices for a while now, and I finally found one. This is how I got it working and put this 100 year old vice back to work. Enjoy!
I Forged a File to make Fire
มุมมอง 945ปีที่แล้ว
I used fire to forge a file to make something that starts fires. And that thing is a flint striker. This was a lot of fun to make and something I hadn't tried before. I never got to actually test it out in the video, but later I got to and it actually works quite well, despite my lack of experience of using flint strikers. Watch this short to see how it works: th-cam.com/users/shortsu5bZ6h5dikI...
I Forged these EPIC Throwing Knives by Hand
มุมมอง 530ปีที่แล้ว
I forged a set of three kunai style throwing knives. They were a lot of fun to make, and to learn how to use. Starting as some leaf spring, I forged the knives completely from scratch. I wanted to try and get them as close to the final product without using a grinder. Watch along to see how I did. Enjoy!
I made a knife that fits in a wallet
มุมมอง 572ปีที่แล้ว
This knife is a must have for people who might not regularly carry knives, but carry their wallet. Or maybe you just need to fill up your wallet. All you have to do to get one of these is make it yourself... I've never seen and knife like this, so I designed it from scratch in hopes of forging some leaf spring into a functional knife that fits into a card slot in a wallet. Although I went throu...
Rusty Springs and Fish to This... ft.@Gridlessness

Go find out how the sheaths were made on the Gridlessness channel here: www.youtube.com/@Gridlessness/featured They do a lot of awesome things from general homesteading and off-grid living to making homemade black powder, so definitely check them out. These knives started as truck leaf springs. Through forging and countless hours of fit ups and handle work, two knives were made. And what better...

Your charcloth seems undercooked, that's all. It needs to be jet black, all over, to work really well. 100% cotton tshirt material works awesome. Just put it back in an altoid box with a hole in it, and put it on the fire for a little longer. Your fire steel seems awesome, and your technique seems good, too. Very well done, man. 👍 👍

Great video Brandt. I am interested in hobby welding and have been searching TH-cam for how to videos. I have a lot of old had tools and scrap metal stock. Some of the metal scrap i have is hardened steel, i think. Do you have to super heat the hardened steel to make it softer to weld? And another question is i have old hand tools that I cant tell if they are cast iron tools or steel, like old pipe wrenches and some very old spanners, not sure how i would tell what is what until I eventually start the welding process and notice it didn't weld properly. I purchased a new Hobart 210 welder but have not been able to get the 220v electrical hookup installed yet so in preparation I am searching through the tube looking for ideas and tips on how to begin hobby welding. I like your forge. I am contemplating if i should invest in an acetylene tank or finding/building a forge. Does yours run off propane? Is there a good web site or welding forum you would recommend for learning how to make metal crafts? Thanks.

It only works if the char is 100% cotton or denim. I carry a tin of charred pink wood and have had great success with it

One option that might solve the problem of that small material cooling so fast, is to lock it in the vise cold, and use a torch for the heat.

Fantastic. First thing I looked for in the first minute was those threads. Clean and not too worn. Screw box looks good. Everything else can be fixed if needed but screw and box are the big deals

The fact that someone my age has this much cool stuff, and that its so much cooler than my stuff, is really annoying to me. Like bro has a workshop. I have a shed, and its mostly filled up with a lawnmower.

You got a great vise there ! Dont forget to put grease on the screw and pack the screw box aka the bell thing. That is the number one thing people forget to do and it ruins the thread every time you tighten it without lubrication. Do that and you should have that vise for life, it had almost no wear on the screw from what i saw

    • @BrandtBlacksmithing
      @BrandtBlacksmithing 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks! No I didn't use Loctite, but this isn't a takedown knife so all the parts are epoxied in place, including the threads on the pommel.

A fire steel is a long-term fire solution. Lighters work great, but will eventually run out of fuel, break, etc. The fool is the one who always thinks they'll find themself in an ideal situation.
