Thanks for the video. I notice I get significant drop-outs at 256kbps setting selected - is this normal?
If you are getting drop outs, it could be because a number of different issues but usually happens due to poor network conditions (low bandwidth, poor WiFi signal, packet loss). For the best quality connection we recommend all participants have a bare minimum of 1 Mbps upload and download bandwidth, more is always better, and connect via ethernet cable, as WiFi is prone to interference resulting in drop outs. Audio drop outs can also be hardware related, for example if there is a clocking issue with your audio device it could result in drop outs in the audio, or if the buffer size is too low this can also happen. If you have more questions please contact support@source-elements.com and we would be happy to help.
Thanks for this video! You're a champ :)
I just downloaded the paid version of Source-Nexus Suite and I can't see the Source-Nexus Review UI on the master track of my DAW! I can only see the I/O, Mute-On and Source-Connect Link plugins. Can anyone help me?! Thanks!
Source-Nexus Review is only available as a stereo plugin so please make sure your master track is a stereo track. If you are still not seeing the plugin, you may want to try reinstalling Source-Nexus Suite. If you are still having trouble, please contact our support team at support@source-elements.com
Hi! Here's a question: I understand that if I'm using Source-Nexus Suite my guests don't need a Source Elements account to connect with me and can join Source-Nexus Gateway sessions for free. But if I'm using Source-Connect Standard? Will they be able to access it for free? Or do they need to have a subscription to Source Connect Standard as well?
In order to connect with Source-Connect Standard or Pro, the guest does need to have their own copy of Source-Connect Standard or Pro.
I'm reading that there is no or limited compatibility between Standard v3x and Talent v4.0, for example no Restore and Replace, no RTS and the inability to use the Source-Connect Link Plug-in. I don't use Restore and Replace, RTS or the Source-Connect Link Plug-n (I use Source-Connect standalone). Will this mean I will be compatible between my v3x and a studio with v4x or vice versa or there will be no compatibility between v3x and v4x?
There is no compatibility between v3 and v4, correct. However, they work together on the same computer very happily so you can run both until v4 becomes the more common version for everyone. We are also providing a free Bridge so in an emergency, if you only have v4 but need to connect to someone on v3, you can create an on-demand Bridge.
Is Source-Connect 4 supported and available with the Source-Connect Standard subscription? Having watched your TH-cam program introducing Source-Connect 4, should I remove the iLok licenses and iLok Account?
@taniagrantstudio yes everyone with a Source-Connect Standard subscription will automatically be upgraded for free to version 4. That's great news I hope! You might want to hold on to your iLok until the migration from version 3 is complete, we couldn't say when that will be.
@@Source-elements Thank you!
If I am using Source-Connect Standard to host an event with 17 total participants, can each of the other participants use Source-Connect Free to join that session?
At the moment Source-Nexus Gateway cannot connect directly with Source-Connect, however it is possible to set up a multi-conference between Source-Connect (including multiple instances if using Source-Connect Pro), Source-Nexus Gateway, and any other meeting platform using Source-Nexus and some mix-minus routing setup in your DAW. This video will guide you through how to configure a Pro Tools session with Source-Nexus to achieve this: th-cam.com/video/mhDdiiE3E_c/w-d-xo.html At the moment, Source-Nexus Gateway supports up to 5 participants in the same session, but we are working on adding support for more participants in the same session. So if you have a total of 17 participants this may not suffice at the moment, but another meeting platform could be used in its place until we can support 17 or more participants in the same session.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
this video is next to useless.. way too fast. Just upgraded to 1.5 form 1.3, lost all my buses and cant amke new ones. Brilliant!
Thank you for the feedback and sorry to hear about the issue you are having. If your Nexus devices are missing after updating, please first reboot your computer which should resolve the issue. If you are still having trouble, please contact Source Elements support at support@source-elements.com and we can assist further.
This was really helpful. Thank you for making it easy to understand the process. 🙏
Thanks, Robert and Rebekah! Sorry I missed the chat, but glad to see you walk through these features.
what are the band width requirements
Same as for Source-Connect 3: support.source-elements.com/source-connect-4-hub/network-configuration-and-bandwidth-for-source-connect-4
there is an out of synch
Excellent! I just downloaded SC 4.0 for Talent and it tested out nicely, while still having my 3.9 on my Mac and being able to run that also. The greatly expanded work space and features are very clear to navigate.
Lovely to hear it!
I bought the software but it looks nothing like what you guys are showing. It looks very tiny and dated.
Source-Connect 4 is not ready for sale yet - you will have purchased version 3. Please wait to be notified as we roll out the Source-Connect 4 beta over the next days to existing version 3 users.
Completely awesome. What a wonderful revamp. Very, very nice work. I know a ton of voice actors who are very excited to see this!
I'm so excited!! Thanks for these videos. I've already signed up for the beta version.
Great stuff!..........NO subscription model, please.
We continue our model where you can purchase a license. The only change is that you will also need Network Access ($105 a year), which is required to support the new features that make this product a trillion times easier to use, eg. no port forwarding. If you don't pay the Network Access, then your license is still valid in case you are not using it at that time, so don't worry, it's not lost.
Awesome 😎👍
So.. How do we update to Source-Connect 4, and is there a cost?
same - if we have an active support contract, is it a free upgrade? Is it a one-time fee or monthly plan? (currently have the full buyout version, prefer not to have another subscription)
A one timelife-time fee
Since we started in 2005, our rules remain the same: if you have uninterrupted support and a license, upgrades are free. Otherwise, they are capped at $89 per version upgrade (for Standard), $168 (for Pro), and $257 (for Pro X). If you have a subscription it's 100% included at no cost. If you have partial support, we will further discount those upgrades. If your support expired, you pay $10 per missing month until the cap. If you have Source-Connect 3.8 purchased after 2016, we consider this the same as a Source-Connect 3.9 license because Windows did not get a 3.9 update when macOS did. Otherwise, you will pay 2 versions e.g. if you bought Source-Connect Standard 3.8 in 2014 and did not continue support, you will pay $178. Please note that there is also the Network Access that will be required to maintain when using Source-Connect. We'll be launching soon a comprehensive page and emailing every one with their specific upgrade path.
@Source-elements Perfect! Very clear answer. Thanks!
@@Source-elements So if I have S-C Standard 3.9.1, I must pay $89 to upgrade to 4.0? At what point will that be required? If my client has 4.0, I will need to upgrade, but if we both have 3.9, we're fine for now?
Very exciting!! Woohoo!
Is the sync tight enough to review foley/ADR remotely with a Director or I would need another solution?
Please reach out to us at support@source-elements.com to discuss upcoming synchronization features.
Any chance for an Android app in the near future?
This is something we are considering so thank you for the feedback and your interest!
I've been in a "Mouse Fight" with Robert and he's 100% Ninja level!; I never had a chance.
I'm using Source-Nexus and one of my FAVORITE options is Source-Nexus Mute-On. It may seem insignificant but Mute-On saves me hundreds of clicks each Pro Tools session. Dream come true for my workflow! Highly recommended!
looks good, didn't have 42:00 to watch...does it do momentary & latch (like talkback)
Yes! The default is a momentary switch but you can enable latch under the drop down menu for the key command and MIDI command. In the next update we will add a separate assignable command for the latch as well.
@@jacekiburzSE cool…yes I’m used to having both options available on the fly
Great video
I spoke with Robert yesterday and am looking forward to getting this installed and setup on Friday. I've been looking for something like this for at least four years.
Happy to hear it! We also just released Source-Nexus Mute-On which we love, and hope you do too
You don't explain how to set up WITHOUT iLOK?
You are missing the whole first part. Downloading setting up and account and iLOK
Looks very cool. Nice development work!
Why Mono only?
Source-Nexus Suite supports full stereo channels and a lot more. Do try it out!
Are the files recorded locally and then made available to share a la that other platform that rhymes with "shiver-side"?
At this time Source-Nexus doesn't have a built-in method to automatically transfer recordings: you'd need to transfer these yourselves at this time. We do recommend that you use a desktop recorder to ensure accuracy and avoid loss in case of closing the browser tab etc.
What's the point of using it instead of facetime, whatsup, zoom etc.? What's the difference? Thank you
The short and simple answer is quality and control. Source-Nexus prioritizes audio quality and user control over the autopilot nature of general meeting platforms. Try it out!
Hi I am a voice actor in the UK and a studio in the US want to do a voice over session with me. They have said they are happy to use source nexus . They want me to be able to record to picture and have zoom running for visual and Source connect for audio simultaneously. In order to get the video will I need to apply for the free 15 day trial or will that be via the zoom link? They will be running the session from the US and want 2 hours so will I have to do anything my side to keep session to 2 hours? I have wifi will I need to use an ethernet cable?
@margaretashkey275 sounds like you can work with Source-Nexus Free, you don't need video as that will be covered by Zoom. We do recommend ethernet where possible as it greatly improves the audio quality when streaming.
What’s the difference between the Link plugins and the Nexus plugin?
Source-Connect Link is a way to send audio to-and-from your DAW and Source-Connect, it comes with your Source-Connect license. Source-Nexus I/O is a way to send audio to-and-from your DAW and any app! Source-Nexus I/O comes with the Source-Nexus Suite.
How many people can you have in the paid version?
At this stage also 5. We'll be making it possible to have additional participants in the future.
I'm a TV commercial voice over talent. If I'm using the free version and join my studio host engineer with paid version, can I see video the host play on the interface screen during the recording session? The engineer told me yes, but just want to confirm that. I just purchased the S-C Standard. It seems the S-N Free is even better for me with video reference.
Hi @andrewjou9835, we discussed this exact topic in our webinar. Short answer: Source-Connect is designed for recording, while Source-Nexus is not. We had a great webinar on this last week, at 19 minutes and 15 seconds this topic starts, hope it helps cover your questions. th-cam.com/video/T41nl48OtEQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=SourceElements Also see support.source-elements.com/source-nexus-suite/how-does-source-nexus-gateway-compare-with-source-connect-standard
Hi@@Source-elements, thanks for the info. I'll stay with S-C for highest audio quality.
Will it interfere ith Source Connect Standard?
@sebestiansoliz8831 not in anyway: Source-Nexus is a browser website while Source-Connect is a desktop application, they are very different and don't interfere with each other, and can in fact be run at the same time quite happily.
Using Nexus Free, I assume any sound engineer can patch/bus you in to a DAW for recording??
@davocal1 absolutely, it's one of the many uses for Source-Nexus
Hi Guys I’m a VO actor. I’m currently using the free version of Cleanfeed where all recordings can be made and downloaded from within the browser during the session. I only record to my computer as a backup. Can I do the same in Nexus? If not I see no need to move over. Regards Dean
@@deankellytech Absolutely, you'll see the Record button in the lower section of the Source-Nexus free interface: click on Record and then when you click Stop it will download the recording automatically. Try it out and let us know how it works for you.
How much is the Pro subscription? The website is still confusing about all the different products
Source-Nexus has two licenses: FREE (which is completely free) and Suite, which is from $11.95 a month - store.source-elements.com/software-products/source-nexus. Source-Nexus is not to be confused with Source-Connect which is a desktop product purpose-built for remote recording, while Source-Nexus is a browser-based application primarily designed for Review & Approval although many find it suitable for remote recording. Source-Nexus Suite includes not only the professional browser application with stereo chat, video chat, high quality screensharing and isolated stereo audio broadcast, but includes the Source-Nexus Control panel app to create as many virtual drivers as you need, a desktop Router, DAW plugins to send and receive audio to and from any app, and our Source-Nexus Review plugin to transform your DAW session into a communications-ready session.

@@jorgeferrer77 fixed - TH-cam comments didn't strip out the ")" character
Will this be finally suitable for Voice Acting directed sessions? As it stands now, practically every audition specs read, "Must have Source Connect STANDARD...NOT Source Connect NOW."
Hi @SeattleBurns, the short answer is No. Please see our comprehensive guide on this topic here. support.source-elements.com/source-nexus-suite/how-does-source-nexus-gateway-compare-with-source-connect-standard
I love it. Works great thank you. Been a SE fan for years. By the way, not a good hum on the audio of this video :-)
Thanks for the feedback! I was too excited to publish this one and missed it. 😜 Had a bunch of instruments in standby for a different demo and they folded into my narration track. ~Ross
Hi I registered for the 14 day free trial but when I click the Start Session button, it's asking for a Passkey but I'm not sure where to locate the passkey the software is asking for?
@cheekoadams212 sounds like you are signing in a Guest - to avoid this, always click on the Source-Nexus login link from the Dashboard, or just click on the Host tab when entering the Gateway
I think of Nexus as being able to route other audio sources to the stream. For instance, sometimes I want to be able to playback what I just recorded to a client, then switch back to my mic. Will there be a simple function for this, or will it involve soundflower or Loopback or something else? I'm looking forward to seeing the features of the upgrade.
@DavePettittVoiceOver Nexus suite does all of that and more. i think you'll be particularly excited by the Nexus Review plugin as well as Nexus Router. We'll make a video breaking down the premium features of Source-Nexus Suite very soon. In the mean you can watch the webinar we did at launch here: th-cam.com/video/cntfWgvM4fI/w-d-xo.html We also just showed a demo of an overdubbing process at NAMM you might find useful - it will be out as soon as we can!
If there is no individual volume controls like in scnow, useless.
@voiceactorRU - controls are available on Hover, just put your mouse over the participant you want to change the volume for. As a Host you can also force-mute a guest.
How does Source-Nexus Free compare with Source Connect Standard? Is Source-Nexus Free compatible with a session hosted by someone using Source Connect?
Hi @johnskovmand8497 check out our comprehensive info on this topic we have here for you! support.source-elements.com/source-nexus-suite/how-does-source-nexus-gateway-compare-with-source-connect-standard
Quick question! Our podcast recordings generally break 90 minutes. What happens at the 90 minute recording mark?
Thanks for the requirements: as of today after 90 minutes the recording will stop and download to your computer desktop. You would need to press Record again to start a new one. We're looking into other solutions for you, hang tight!
Folllow-up question! Until a change is in place, are we notified on screen or with an audible queue when the 90 minutes runs out?
@@BungleTech Yes there is a visible timer count-down on the Recorder element
@@Source-elements Awesome, that is very good!
@@Source-elements follow up question. How does the tool handle crashes or disconnects? Does it back up the audio as it is being recorded for example?
Hi - you said post questions here - so I am! How do I route this into Pro Tools? Can I use Source Nexus i/o like I could in Source Connect Now? Really hope I get a reply as I feel like I keep having to buy new stuff from you - and having full Source Connect Pro, and now Source Nexus i/o I would really love to be able to use this free version with the stuff I have already invested in with you!
Hi Wendy! Yes, it sounds like you're setup to have a great experience with the Source-Nexus Gateway. You can use Nexus I/O as input/output devices from the Gateway, just like you used to be able to with Source-Connect Now, and if you are a Source-Nexus subscriber already, then you have access to all the premium features of Nexus Gateway. Thanks for reaching out - let us know if you have any issues!
I second Wendy's question. How do you route the input/output on source connect free, into the source-nexus plugin?
@@judiper1 In about 90 minutes we answer all your questions via our live webinar, subscribe and check for the live stream here www.youtube.com/@Source-elements/streams
@@judiper1 Hey Judy - I have been able to make it work via my old template for Source Connect Now - did you used to use Source Connect Now in this way? If so you previous DAW setup should work. I had some issues because whilst Source Nexus Free will technically work with any browser now, not just Chrome - I found I could get setup - and then there were monitoring issues for my guests.... And the next time I setup my browser said "Host has to be in Chrome"!? So - I advise using Chrome despite what Source Elements have said. Hope that helps! And yes - I think Source Elements could be a bit more helpful providing basic templates/DAW advice for us. There are a lot of assumptions made in these videos, they are often not very user friendly - certainly for someone like me who is not a professional audio engineer, but who uses Source Elements software for professional work!
