Nothing "big city" about RVA. Quite the opposite. No nightlife (what he references as nightlife are small and gross dive bars in the fan), attractions, or big city vibes. The museums are ok, but how many times can you frequent them before they get old? Small DT. Horrible city planning, bad public transportation. Lol "walkable" - You definitely need a car here - also search news articles about how people are run over by busses and cars. RVA is one of the least walk-able cities due to lots of two way streets. Ride through the city downtown and you may see a couple of people, the opposite of major cities - no vibrancy. Extremely high housing and rent prices as seen in the video. Not enough high paying jobs and companies to justify it. You can live in a much better city for equal or less. Flights in and out of RVA are EXPENSIVE since you have to make one or two connections to get anywhere. Moved here from New Orleans in 2005 bc of Katrina, went to VCU, graduated and left. Family is still there, speaking from experience. Only good thing about RVA is the food scene, lots of restaurants. Decent city if you have small kids and a growing family, though that being the case, I would want to live in the west-end "short pump" - 25 min outside of downtown. Wouldn't bring my kids dt unless it's day light and only to Cary Town, Browns/Belle Island, by the river near the Boat House, or Maymont Park. Broad Street, the bottom, and most areas are quite sketchy if you ask me. Scotts Addition may be a shining light and your best shot if you're young but prepare for $2500 one bedroom apartments - you can live in a first class city for that. Sorry to put the truth out there Scott.
@@504_HotBoy, I appreciate the feedback! Sorry Richmond didn't work out for you but it has for countless others... I certainly hope you found a place that you can call home!

@@anupjoshi5218I appreciate your comment. Ahhhh, I see what you did there... Very clever! Haha. I would imagine because that wouldn't be a very good catch phrase! 🤷🏼♂️ Sorry you feel that way about Virginia but it's certainly a wonderful place to live, I've been here 48 years myself... Virginia is for Lovers and "WYNNers" not losers!
You only did Chesterfield which is 354,000 people. You forgot Henrico which is 340, 000 people both bigger than Richmond 230,000 both school systems are better. This wasn’t good.
Thanks for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated! There were ALOT of suburbs of Richmond that weren't covered in this video however, I didn't intend to cover all of them for the sake of not having a one hour video. This one was specifically catered to the areas that I spoke about and for people who may be looking to relocate here and have never been to the Richmond area. Chesterfield is a large part of the area that I cover and I have numerous clients who live there so that was my main focus. I'm consistently making videos so that I can cover various areas so just because it wasn't covered here doesn't mean that it won't be covered in another upcoming video. Thanks for tuning in and hopefully I can make some videos in the future that will suit your needs... Take care!
I like the night sky lights but not the flashing lights behind the tree and your laptop.
@@joz1765 Thanks for your feedback... Sorry for the delay in responding, I'm not sure how I missed your message!
Getting around not a breeze on I-95.
Thanks for your feedback however, it is absolutely a breeze when considering the traffic here compared to Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, DC, New York, New Jersey, etc. I find that a lot of people relocate to Richmond from those areas so to them it will certainly be a breeze in comparison to what they're used to. What area do you live in Robert?
Good news for Dems, who have thiss election locked up

Chester's my hometown! Beautiful area, but it's been built up a lot since I was a kid. I prefer being closer to parks, and in fact the area where I lived was very near one of the local parks.
@@ringo8410 Very cool! Yes it has but they've done a really good job with keeping the "small town" feel and maintaining the parks despite the growth. How long has it been since you've been here? Where are you currently living?

Awesome, I love that place... Have you been? Did you live here locally before or are you from out of the area?
I just moved to Chester last month
My husband and I are looking to move to Richmond in about a year but we are looking to rent. Not buy. My daughter went to VCU so we know this old great city.
That's great! What's prompting the move and what types of things will be important to you when looking for a rental?
@@RichmondVirginiaLife places to eat and museums art galleries parks to hike. City vibe. We are from New York so I love the city but have been living in Virginia Beach and Fairfax Virginia for close to thirty years. I’m retired and I’m an artist so looking to break out into the art scene. Our youngest daughter went to VCU and graduated with two bachelor degrees in journalism so we got to know the city on long visits we fell in love with the Cary town area. Fan district. Now looking to make a big change. Virginia Beach is great but not much to do here. I’m a very active seventy year old and looking to explore myself in a great city. I'm from Seattle, lived in Austin, and just moved from Portland, Or. to Charlottesville with my husband. We are considering a move to Richmond for work and, for the life of me, I just do not understand the housing prices in Richmond. For the size/things to do in Richmond, and the quality of the housing, what gives?? Totally insane.
Thanks for your comment... If you're from Seattle then you are definitely familiar with HIGH priced real estate! My Admin is from there and has been an agent for 20+ so we've had alot of conversations about the real estate market there. Richmond is a small city with a big city vibe and comparatively speaking, it's much less than other nearby cities such as DC, VA Beach, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, etc. If you're considering the move here then maybe you should consider some of the suburbs such as Chesterfield, Henrico, Midlothian, etc. I have a few videos: The Highlands, Brandermill, Woodlake, and Chester that highlight those areas and may interest you. Let me know if I can help!
@@RichmondVirginiaLife What exactly is "big city" about Richmond?
@@504_HotBoy Thanks for the comment! I said, "Richmond is a small city with a big city vibe"... Art, culture, history, music, food, events, festivals, parks, James River, multiple universities, numerous suburbs, etc.
