After one of the locking nuts became damaged, I had to drill the nut out to remove it.

I found a really simple way to gain access to the windscreen washer motor. I could not get the wiper arm off, but probably will not need to. Before you remove the motor, ensure you either drain the fluid out first or put something under the car to catch the water.

In order to gain access to the windscreen washer, ideally you will have to take off the wiper blade arms and then you can take off the plastic covering which should give you full access; however, like everything on this car, the wiper blade arms seemed to be stuck and are unwilling to cooperate with me. Oh the joys!

I have managed to repair almost nothing, everything is half done and the car continues to be challenging. Slowly but surely we will get 'Clio' back up and running safely.

'PROJECT CLIO' A new project. I bought this car for £200. It had faults and also needed an MOT which I have done; unfortunately the car failed the MOT on a number of faults. When I first viewed the car the engine light was off, when it was being unloaded of the trailer, the engine light came on; these things happen. Known Faults: Passenger side window fails to operate Windscreen washer not work...

The rear coil spring broke whilst driving. I had to replace it where it broke. This is the first part of the video. The second video failed, so I have made it again and I am currently editing it.
Audi TT 1.8 Petrol. Replacing the timing belt, (Coolant drainage).

I am replacing the timing belt on this Audi which has done around 100,000 miles. I have already disconnected the battery and taken the engine covers off. As this is a project, I'm only able to do this in spare time, therefore, videos maybe slow being published. As always, I will make short bite-size video's. I hope you enjoy and are able to take something from these videos.

This is the second part of this video, I've had a problem uploading the first video; however, it will give you the idea what to do and how to do it. Not sure why I struggled to get the break pad back in place, but there's never an easy job on a car. I have now got new pads and will release a video showing you all how to replace them too.

    Look at the original locking nut you demonstrated it has an outer lug separated by a groove, Looks like the nut you're removing already has the outer part snapped off before you started drilling. I welded a 17mm nut on to the snapped wheel bolt at this point, worked a treat, no drilling 👍

    Hi. Nice video and looked smooth. Unfortunatelly for me i just snap off my torx bit clean... drill cant do anuthing now and im stuck 😂

      Oh no! The only thing I can suggest without looking at it, is you get it to a garage where they can weld a nut onto the stud itself and then it may be removed that way. Good luck.

    Just blank the EGR valve with two blanking plates (put one on the enterance of the EGR cooler and the other one between the inlet manifold and the valve) and you'll have no warning lights or black smoke.

      Hi Salih, Thank you for comment and you are absolutely right, that would work. But there are two reason's why I have not done that. The first reason is a simple one, the owner did not want that as a solution, and the second reason is, the EGR Valve has a purpose, so to try and maintain authenticity of the vehicle, it was decided to strip it down and either replace or clean out the old EGR Valve; as we have a donor vehicle we replaced it. The valve that came of the vehicle did have a fault on it and the replacement seems to have cured the issue of black smoke. I have not been able to make any further video's this week as I have been tied up with other commitments, I am hoping to get a few more done this week on the Vel Satis. I am also looking at another project on a car that is roughly from the same time period. Thank you again for commenting. Stay safe and take care. Si.

      Hi David, Thank you for your question. I have made a short explanation video. I am away from the car for the next couple of days due to other commitments. I am continuing to upload the video's I have made. I have started putting the vehicle back together, but I have not had chance to upload those video's as yet. The problem with the car is that it is blowing black smoke under load on acceleration. The owner of the vehicle is a friend of mine who has taken it to several garages; unfortunately, they have not been able to to cure this issue. The car is passing it's MOT, but heavy black smoke on acceleration does look extremely bad. We have started on the easy solution by putting a cleaning solution through the injectors which was demonstrated in my first video; this did not cure the problem. We have used a diagnostic coder on the vehicle that gave two fault codes, P1299 and P1402. The P1402 is relating the EGR valve and P1299 was relating to a water sensor (although, I am not convinced regarding P1299). As the P1402 code is relating to the EGR valve, I am using that as my start point. Although I have not had chance to upload the EGR video yet, we have tested it, and there is a problem with the electronic side of the EGR valve. I have a concern that replacing the EGR valve might not cure the problem and it is something else. The reason for my concern is that from my research, there seems to be a lot of owners who have complained regarding the same issue and a cure has been difficult to find; therefore, I am now working through engine system methodically. As you may have realised, there are not many videos that have been made regarding this particular vehicle, hence why I have now putting together bite size video's so other's do not struggle. I generally hope they are helpful for other owner's of this vehicle. Regarding the removal of bonnet: The bonnet that is currently on, the owner has previously damaged it. We have a second bonnet which is the same colour, so we are going to swap them over. However, whilst working on this vehicle it has created more room for me to get into the tight spaces of the engine; being 6' 2" this really does help. I hope this has answered your question. I actually own a Vel Satis myself, my dad has 3, another friend also has 3 and I have another friend who is on and off with different ones. When I first bought mine, mine were the same, I had thick black particles coming from the exhaust as the last over never drove it past 3k rpm. After about 6 months, mine eventually cleared up. However, they were various times at idle it would emit large amounts of white and grey smoke as if the engine were running away. It wasn't the case but eventually after driving it well and adding a few bottles of Wynns fuel system cleaner it cleared up. I have removed my EGR a few times in ownership to clean them. They're not bad to remove once you know. It's also worth checking the top boost hose at the turbo as these are common to partially split which equates to black smoke, but not enough to cause a fault code. I hope this helps.       Hi David, The Renault running has improved and holding 3rd gear better at 30 mph; but unfortunately it did not cure the black smoke. I will have the car back in this week to try and go through a number of things with the car, starting with the EGR valve. I have spoken to the owner of the Vel Satis and he informed me 'If you see a another blue 3L Vel Satis you are two wave as they are very rare. Si.
