    I don't know if I think the film is as pessimistic as many people think it just feels like he died for no good reason. He himself said he just cares for unbridled pleasure but if he took the time to appreciate smaller things in life like the friends he had looking for him or music he would've been fine. i think the only time we see him care for anybody else is the druggie who later kills him when he saw him struggling with addiction so there was a part of him that can be actually be good.
