My ex was already greatly in arrears 10's of thousands of $ when my 2 children turned 18. Support was initially California court ordered to be $200. for 2 kids ( $ 100 each), when they were 1and 2. I had sole custody , I was working with support enforcement, both in Sonoma ( original) and Mendocino counties. They sent me a letter when each kid turned 18, never once stating that arrears didn't expire, only that I could get my own private lawyer, to collect which I could not afford . I could really use some of that arrears $$ now! I receive SNAP . Ex is receiving benefits from both military retirement and Social Security retirement and lives in a different state. Is there a non- profit legal aid organization that can help with this? The out-of-state dodging is the biggest hurdle for me. Thank you.

What if a DNA test proved you're not the father so you've refused to pay?

My ex owes, 85,000 and always quits his job every time an income withholding order is placed. No he claims he's homeless and trying to get disability.. his balance is still climbing even though he isn't paying. He's supposed to pay me 1500 a month and with interest he's up to 2300 a month. How is it legal to collect arrears if the custodial parent passes away? Unless it is a welfare case and the state is owed the money. The child nor the custodial parent are the beneficiary, the state is. And what if the surviving parent would agree to give the arears directly to his child and not launder it through the collection agency, is that an option? Or do you want the money to pass through your accounting system so you can pimp the federal government for 66 cents for every dollar that passes through your child support office?

My case is in the Appellate Court at this moment. I sued the support magistrate and child support attorney for fraud. Child Support drafted their own Order and sent it to me with NO signature from a judge. This had to do with a Cost of Living increase that the mother never asked for and on private caes an inrease must be a request from the parents. The child support agency forged the mother's name on a request form. Its all about Title IV-D funds. Child Support is basically a money laundering racket.

it should be mentioned that social security payments are docked for past child support and also if the children are in foster care the foster care psyments are entered into the past due child support paymenys. thus deadbeat parents are never going to get out of paying even if they move out of california or are receiving ssi or social security retirement. i have a freind who never paid child support and when he started social security he only received about $200 a month.

Can I reopen a child support case just to be paid the arrears that were owed When I signed to close the case because he said he was going to help, but never did lol even though my daughter is over 18 now? Child support assists a parent who needs assistance for the child when the other parent refuses responsibility. All those who disagree seem to be ones who neglect or avoid their responsibility. Clearly not ones who have solely supported children, alone. Especially, when the other party has more ability to assist. It is unfortunate parents can’t do the right thing without legal action, but legal action is most times absolutely necessary in the best interest of the child(ren).

My ex has a degree from a prestigious university and hasn’t “worked” in 6 years. She gets paid under the table as a high-end tutor. Because she’s on “welfare”, no income can be imputed and she therefore is cashing in on child support from my hard-earned money. She is capable of making very good money. I’m the primary parent with 80% custody and I’m still paying her hundreds a month. It’s a broken system. It rewards and motivates people to stay unemployed.
