Craik Dam Walleye Fishing

Casting for Walleye at Craik, Sk. Craik is known as "The Friendliest Place by a Dam Site". This lake is a man made dam in the Arm River Valley. It is stocked with a healthy population of walleye. While these fish will likely never see trophy size the lake is small with an abundance of walleye making for smoother waters and a fun bite. I would recommend this lake for some family fishing or some ...

      As far as carb tuning goes just basic set of wrenches and screw drivers are good, and a can of carb cleaner. For tuning a stiff toothbrush is handy and there is also a small round file set you can get for cleaning out jets but not essential as carb cleaner or wire can usually get it clean. If you are looking at doing more basic diagnostics in general a compression tester, spark tester, timing light, and a multimeter.

    You should ground the tester to the Block, using a Plug adds a 2nd Gap to the Path. It is recommended that both Switchboxes are replaced when one fails, has to do with a Bias between the two My 84 115 still had the Factory Plugs in it when I traded it 14 yrs later with 800 hours on them If the Head Waterjacket cover leaks water, it is likely warped due to overheating, which happens on these from over trimming the motor Don't fiddle with the Linkages without the Service Manual, the throttle valves don't open until all the Timing is in

    • @MrKattlyn2
      @MrKattlyn2 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My thought of testing to the plugs were to ensure equal spark to each of them and knowing that grounding wasn’t the issue with the spark in the first place. I also see how grounding straight to the block though would be best for a final spark test as it would be more accurate. The spark seems fine now with just the one switch box replace. If they were cheaper I’d do both. If a fault came from higher above causing the box to fail I would expect potential damage to the other. With just normal wear I’m unsure how one would affect the other. Not saying you’re wrong but I honestly can’t see that because they are separate of each other. I will look more in to that though. And which linkages? Like the throttle to the timing? I appreciate the comments, it’s good to hear from someone else who has worked with these motors.

    Two things you can do to dramatically improve the heat from these heaters... 1. Keep the output vent tube as short as possible. You lose massive amounts of heat for every metre of tubing. I stupidly fitted 3m of extending tube when I first purchased my 5KW version and upon removing it, it went from mildly warm to excessively hot... on the same heater setting. 2. Add an input tube and run that inside the tent too. That way, you're recycling warmer air and heating that instead of freezing cold air. It not only makes it hotter quicker, but allows you to turn it down sooner and save fuel. You can also quieten the pump by removing its support screw and letting it hang (30-45 degrees to prevent air bubbles). It's reverberation which makes it sound noisier than it really is. Or, replace it with a £20 Amazon filter/pump combo and they're almost completely silent. Making the exhaust quieter is more tricky, as although better mufflers exist, they quickly clog up the burn chambers. Frankly, I'd trade 5db of noise for needing to strip/rebuild it in -20 conditions. Unique to you though, I'd be very careful of the exhaust temps. They frequently hit 200+ degrees and can quickly burn any surface underneath. With yours being supported by ice, I'd double the height of your wooden base to ensure you don't hear a loud "plop" as the whole thing sinks during the night. Being higher, your input/output tubes can be shorter too.

    • @MrKattlyn2
      @MrKattlyn2 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the input. I have already found the hose length to be a big factor. I wrapped it in a flannel and shortened it by 2’ and noticed a big difference on that alone. As for exhaust heat it is close to the ground but it barely melts the ice, it has about an inch of clearance and seems to be enough. I’ll try the trick with fuel pump angle for noise for curiosity but I’m already used to it and it doesn’t bother me at all. Appreciate the comment and I’m sure some other watchers will too.

    • @Paul.Reviews
      @Paul.Reviews 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MrKattlyn2 I've seen a few people double-insulate the output pipe by putting the 3" pipe in a 4" pipe - that's supposedly pretty good but I'm yet to try it. The angle of the pump is purely to stop air bubbles rather than noise... it's decoupling it from anything which resonates which helps stop the noise. I can't hear mine at all now and it's maybe 4 feet away. That said, I use rubber 3.2mm ID hose throughout rather than the green plastic supplied/white hard line available. The rubber dampens the tick even further. Good to hear the exhaust isn't an issue though. I accidentally burnt the wood under mine :) Won't make that mistake again.

      That’s strange. I’ll try and look in to the length. When put on the pc it just records data, you would need programming out of my league to interpret it all. I just set up a camera and record the screen. Garmin you can but humminbird needs to up their game on the transducer and the recording option.

    Does the ticking from the heater get annoying, or do you tone it out?

    • @MrKattlyn2
      @MrKattlyn2 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tone it out. Can definitely hear but it doesn’t bother me. That would be my only negative vs propane, the noise.

      @@MrKattlyn2 thanks for the video and the info! I just picked one up and noticed the ticking when I first started it up prior to my trip this weekend. I'll expect to tone it out as you do.

      There are options online for quieter fuel pumps, about half the noise. But like I said it doesn’t bother me.

    I got a 65 ah deep cycle how long dose your battery last

    • @MrKattlyn2
      @MrKattlyn2 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this video I ran my diesel heater, helix 7, and mega live off a lithium 60ah, ran about 6 hours, definitely not below half. Still had 13.4 volts which is what it has a full charge. Usually it drops below 13.4 after about 30% drain. So I’d say 60ah plenty for a day trip.

      “Squirming Squirt” from Bass Pro Shop. I have tried a few colors and the pink pearl on a small pink jig head does the trick. My previous first ice video shows a close up of it and the packaging. Works great for perch and walleye too.

      I completely agree. All you need is a good battery. I use a 60ah lithium Kepworth I got on Amazon for $250. Great battery. Ran my heater, mega live, and helix all day and barely touched the battery life.

      So just following up. Wondering if my exhaust is different? Like I said I cemented and taped the connections only. I put 2 different CO detectors and fired it up and ran for a long time. The detector with numbers didn’t move even 1 ppm. Glad I got it all double checked tho as I do over nighters often.
