There was a great and terrifying video of a day-in-the-life of Brian Connelly filmed the year before he died. Anyone know what became of this video? It was a half hour long and was called something like Don’t Leave Me This Way. It showed Brian and his family traveling to a resort where he hung out and did a concert later that night. Brian was only about 50years old but looked like a sick 75 year old. It’s shame if this video was permanently removed.

This just so pisses me off. A couple of jumped up nobodies, who have achieved the square root of feckall, taking the piss out of a rock legend like Brian Connolly. Abandoned as a baby in Glasgow, joined the navy in his teens, went on to form and become lead singer of a group which had 13 Top 20 hits including No.1 and 4 at No.2, achieved fame across Europe as well as U.K. and had 4 Top 10 hits in the US, with over 35 million albums sold worldwide, and 55 million records in total, he had more life experience, faced more challenges and had far more (and lasting) fame in his little finger than either of them… and yet has to sit there and listen to these two clueless irrelevant muppets taking the piss out of something they know nothing about. Makes my blood boil, it does. It’s a credit to his humble and down-to-earth nature that he humoured and tolerated them. Should have done a Barry Gibb vs Clive Anderson on this pair of wankers.

One of the best frontmen ever in my opinion. And it’s clear that Sweet were a massive influence on so many bands that followed. They certainly deserved more credit than they were ever given. The lack of respect by the two idiots in this video was hard to watch, because they must have known he wasn’t a well man. He was in denial about being an alcoholic, even though he obviously was and rather than try to humiliate him, they should have just been nice. He handled it very well and you get the impression he was actually a very genuine, humble, decent guy. Like plenty of other people, he wasn’t perfect and confidence issues seem be the main reason for his drink problem.
