For home video; this is not too bad ( i have done some hm/videos, it is not as easy as you might think ) in 1999 my ex wife and i were at Bathurst LIVE beside the track, IF you follow the racing or are a bit of a petrol head it is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME no other words describe it, sadly the modern day is Not as good!!!! No where near as good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great picture quality. Well done on capturing the practice laps including vision of dick Johnson's "greens stuffed" Falcon entering the pits via tow truck after that infamous excursion through the trees at Forrest's elbow which had no safety barrier back then. Then came greenstuff MK2 courtesy of a donor car which was completed just in time for the big race. However didn't win that year or the year after due to the dominance of the Marlboro HDT commodores with the famous three Bathurst wins in a row which began in 1982. 1983 Bathurst was their second in a row followed by the third in a row in 84 with the famous dayglow vk commodores finishing in a 1 2 formation. Last of the big bangers.

Great footage. What's that shitbox they just pulled out of the hell corner sand trap in that last clip? 1994 Bathurst seemed pretty fierce. Although sombre for some considering that years Thursday practice included the fatal crash Of Don Watson at Caltex chase. Only the second fatal crash after the 1986 crash that claimed the life of mike burgmann which led to the addition of Caltex chase to slow cars down coming from conrod straight. Those incidents you may recall as both these incidents were before my time.

Great footage. Was the date and time correct in this footage? 15/11/1998 at around the 10:00 hour? Did Holden win that year as well because I have a feeling they may have. I was too young to remember those years ( I was 3 years old at the time) and don't recall ever watching motor racing at that age.

I have never seen 1980s VHS camera footage before until now. This footage is as crystal clear as any of the commercial television cameras of the time, particularly the ones from 7 sport. All this well before my time. Footage like that is priceless and perhaps of sentimental value. The sound is clear too. I could hear the loudspeaker commentary clearly too as to hear what they're saying and detailing each car as it passed down pit straight past the James Hardie broadcast tower. You've done an exceptional job of getting it so it could be viewed digitally. 👍🙏📹📹🎥🎞️.

Would've been a pretty expensive camera for its time to record amateur footage this good from so long ago, looks like a VHS camera.. I don't think too many in the crowd would've been walking around with them filming willy nilly like today with phone cameras
