I would like everyone to really take a look at the way they are feeding their birds and to think about how hygienic their feeding stations are.

I placed the Helarctos Trail camera up in Badger Woods, a short distance from Yew View in Worcestershire. A few weeks ago, we built a second pond in the garden.I will eventually line it, but when we have a lot of rain and the ground is saturated, the water flows from the top filed, into this space. Today it filled right to the brim and, despite my efforts to dam it, it started to overflow........

I already have one tawny box up here as I know there are tawny owls around my site. This box was designed and built my me, with a camera inside and one outside. After a lot of work both on the ground and up the tree, it's finally in place! How long will it be before the tawny owls discover it?

My mammal box attracts wood mice, usually after dark. They are easy to identify with their large ears, large eyes and a tail longer than their body. They are golden brown on top, with a paler underside. This rodent is widespread in the UK, feeding on berries, and seeds, but also have been known to take eggs and small baby birds from nests.

When we dug the garden pond, I knew that, when it rains hard, the ditch in the field next door outputs down into this area. It has happened a few times before but the amount of rain today took it to new levels! Not only did the pond fill, but so did a lot of the garden! At least I know where to design the pond overflow now!

Both the jay and the great-spotted woodpeckers love the fat balls at the quarry feeders. I would have expected the larger jay to be dominant in this situation, but this female woodpecker was definitely the boss!
