MattRat Vs Final Fight (Arcade)
If you enjoy beat 'em up games, Final Fight is a good choice. It has 3 characters you can play with that have different speed and strength. Let me warn you that these enemies are out for blood. They will take you out unless you get them.
I played this on the Capcom Belt Action Collection on Switch. It has 7 beat 'em up arcade titles and Final Fight is one of them. This was my first Japanese Switch game I ever bought phystically.
There are a few ports of Final Fight. Most know the Super Nintendo version which had 2 characters and it was only one player. There is another version that had Guy instead of Cody...

Who doesn't like Super Mario Kart on Super Nintendo? I know I still like this game! I have a little story when I went to a tournament in August 2019. I went to my first local tournament and this was the game they chose. I got 2nd in the qualifying round. Basically, you have to get the best time. As for the whole tournament, I went and I was nervous even though I did many weeks of training. The ...

You guys ever played Bucky O'Hare on NES? Give this one a try. It'll take some trial and error yet it's worth a playthrough. Imagine Mega Man with 5 characters. Each one has a different ability. I bought my NES cartridge from my local Gamestop when it was still open. Sadly, it's gone. However, they had this game on their online store about 10 or 11 years ago. This game has a tiny extended credits... which are easier said than done to get them when you beat the game... as you may guess... you need to 1-credit clear the game, the collection is great, not to mention that it became the base for the Capcom Arcade Collection 1 and it's "Special Edition" (which is the Marvel vs Capcom Arcade Classics Collection)... and later in 2025 the base for Capcom Arcade Collection 2, I mean... just take a look to the collection's menus, you can clearely see that the menus are pretty much re-used assets (kinda?) from Capcom Beat'Em up Bundle (or as the JPN version is known as Capcom Belt Action Collection... cool name by the way)... how funny that the retro games are blasting nowadays most of the modern games... I mean, you can see how much passion the developers put on those retro games to have a quality game... unlike the modern era that pretty much is "release a broken game and fix it later... maybe".

This is one of the many Konami games that had anti-piracy measures... however for this one it was just default Hard Mode (which is infamous as you're always in a 1-hit KO status, meaning that you REAAAAALLY had to do a lot of trial and error to pass every screen without making contact with anything that causes damage) which you can enable vía password/cheat code (that reminds me of the JPN only game Choujin Sentai Jetman where if you enable either Hard or Very Hard mode... only difference apparently is that the enemy in side-scrolling stages are faster and bosses does more damage on Very Hard, but you always are in 1-hit KO in side-scrolling levels... also, you have to beat the game in one sitting... I dunno if you have limited continues on Hard or Very Hard... as whenever I play that game that way, I always aim for a 1-credit run).

You remind me of Earthbound on Super Nintendo. It had an anti piracy programmed where if you get to Giygas and your version of the game was a bootleg, the whole game will reset and erase all your files! Thankfully, my cartridge was fine when I made it to him! Never played the Super Sentai Famicom games...

MK2... yeah, I don't blame ya for fast-forwarding (vía video editing of course) those fails as the AI is a cheating *REDACTED* that you either lose a lot to decrease it's difficulty enough for a fair match or you figure out the strategy to cheese the AI, against the bosses you can't do much... well, you can actually cheese Kintaro with low or high punches when you get him cornered as he either takes them or blocks them... in which at that point you can stun-lock him (something you can't do on SNES as he will grab you after like 2 seconds... I can't remember on Genesis+32x if it's the same, and I dunno about Saturn nor Ps1, nor PC versions if you can do that or is like SNES where the game says no stun-lock cheese to Kintaro).

Castlevania Dracula's Curse... well, the JPN version NOT only has different sounds due to using the VCR6 Mapper that Nintendo didn't allow to use outside Japan, ALSO the overall difficulty is much lower than the international versions (and also less censorship), as for the most part, you get better sub-weapons for the candles in some places like the little passage after the stairs when you reach Dracula (you get a Cross in the JPN version while in the international versions you get an Axe... which is not bad... especially for Dracula's phase 3, but still...) OR in the same situation of the final stage... if you lose all lives and pick continue... international releases sends you back to the start of the stage... and guess what the JPN version does... well, it sends you straight to the stairs (in other words... just like OG Castlevania, which means that you're not forced to do the entire final stage all over again), also, the international releases the 1st loop is kind of an hybrid of JPN version loop 1 and 2+ fused together, as some obstacles like bats in the room before the stairs in the final stage will appear in loop 1 when in the JPN version those only appear if you play on loop 2 or higher, also another difference is that Grant got nerfed in the international versions as his standard attack instead of just being the Knife sub-weapon is just a tiny dagger that forces you to risk contact damage with the enemy (yeah, Grant can use the Knife sub-weapon in the international versions but you know the deal for that case, unlike the JPN version in which he CAN'T get the sub-weapon because is his DEFAULT attack... also costing him zero hearts to use it for that obvious reason).

One funny trivia data, in the EUR version due to being multi-language, the voice acting got removed and had to use the SNES Star Fox style "voices" instead (like the dude on the training mode), also in Europe due to potential copyright issues, the game was known as Lylat Wars, I find interesting that you had NO idea about SNES Star Fox back when you started to get N64 games, SF64 is considered the pinnacle of the series (and it's 3DS version too), I agree about the feeling of having a (former) canceled game with the tiny SNES that is also good (pretty much everyone knows very well the bogus IGN review that easilly spoiled they didn't give a proper review as it was totally clear that if you evaulate the game with nowadays standards is like it sucks, but if you see it from the 90's era perspective...) Edit: All 3 games playable on Switch if you have the Online Membership (standard membership for the SNES games and Expansion Pak for SF64)... by the way, what was your duo to go in Star Fox 2 in Expert Mode? in my case it was either Miyu or Fay and the other free choice (but usually either Fox or Falco, or both Miyu and Fay... which is an extremely dangerous risk vs reward style as you die really fast in Expert if you're careless). Edit 2: In Fichina (stage 3 in the blue route) if before the Star Wolf appears Peppy is not without you (either by losing him in the previous stage or during stage 3), Pigma's quote is different, also in Bolse (stage 6 in blue/yellow route) Star Wolf appears if either you didn't play Fichina or in said stage there was a survivor before you get timer scammed, in the 1st case Fox will say the "Just what I need to see... Star Wolf" line, but if it's the later case he instead says "Star Wolf again!? Why now!?"

I love this game, never cared about that non-sensical thing with Street Fighter since the time I emulated the game back when I was at school and we got a free time after we did our class activities, then a few years later I nabbed the NES cart for very cheap as the retro game store owner challenged me to beat the game in a single credit (and guess what... the store owner didn't knew he already lost the challenge before it started, as I had the game fresh in my memory as at that time I played it on both my 3DS and WiiU via Virtual Console... which you can't get it legally anymore as both E-shops are now Resting In Peace just like the Wii, PSP and Xbox 360 stores)

Is interesting that they used the Cowabunga Collection version of the title screen song instead of the ACTUAL 80's version, but yeah... a tiny nitpick for this emulated version that has everything right from the get-go anyway, this version is great for 4 player buddy game (wished they could have added a "Battletoads mode" or rather named... Friendly Fire On just to have more chaos in a very casual play... funny enough, Hyperstone Heist HAS that option which is actually a cheat code), it's NES counterpart is just as good given it's limited capabilities to port this thing while adding a few stuff the original didn't have as well. Edit: This was an unlockable in the 1st TMNT game from the Xbox/Ps2/GCN era... but due to copyright issues Konami couldn't use the original songs nor voice... and also have some emulation issues (but not as bad as Turtles in Time in the 2nd game).

  • @PikangsFutaba
    @PikangsFutaba 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

Turtles in Time arcade is a good game overall, but pales vs it's SNES port (even if it's 2 players only... but it's the added stuff that makes it superior to the original Arcade) AND the 1st Arcade game (which became the "2nd" on NES), in any case, it's good that the Cowabunga Collection revived this particular version that the last time you could see it was as an unlockable in the 2nd TMNT game on the Xbox/Ps2/GCN console era (which due to copyright issues couldn't use the original songs nor voices... AND on top of that... it had emulation issues).

Empire Strikes Back... yup, even on Easy, this game will make you suffer no matter what, the first one is in the middle when it comes to difficulty (aside the fact that you need to beat it in one sitting... unless you play the Ps Vita/Ps4/Ps5 re-release that added save-states and a new cheat code that takes all the stuff the Debug Mode cheat gives you and strip all of them sans the ability to pick any character you want in side-scrolling stages... which is needed for one particular trophy in the Cantina stage... which is a reference to the original version of the movie by the way) and Return of the Jedi while it has is hard moments... is the easiest of the trilogy as I said before, but yeah, Empire has a lot of BS moments compared to the other two and you really need to rely on being able to cheese some of them like the AT-AT approach with the snow-speeder as you're a way too big target and there are no healing hearts during that portion, snd Vader... my god... he has a LOT of health and if you didn't get some specific force powers like healing or making everything (sans you) go slo-mo... you're gonna have a real bad time (I still don't know back in the day how the heck I managed to defeat Vader with no force powers at all, I probably would attempt to do that again in the future), and yeah, Nintendo didn't want us to see that moment where Luke loses his hand (understandable why... even if Nintendo missed moments here and there to censor like in Golgo 13 Top Secret Episode on NES) and THAT other moment (I wonder why they didn't want us to enter "spoiler city" when it was pretty much common knowledge what happened at that moment).

Wow, you played the "hardcore" version, and yes, the fact that the power-up downgrade is the same one as the 1st SMB+Lost Levels+SNES SMW (yes, in the case of SMW I have to specify the SNES version as the GBA version uses the USA SMB3 system as if you have either flower or the cape you downgrade to normal Super Mario instead of just smoll Mario), but the game despite that isn't much harder once you get used to that fact, another game on the NES/Famicom+Disk System that has a different difficulty layer is Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link, as the USA version while you need more EXP than the JPN version to increase your stats, at least those are permanent, while the JPN version has a ruleset that each time you save the game (or get a Game Over), the levels you have gets downgraded to the lowest stat you have at that time (for example, let us say you have Lv.7 on attack, 5 on Magic and 1 on Life, if you get a game over and continue/save, BOTH attack and magic levels get downgraded to what Life level is... which in this example is 1, making the free level system have some sort of strategy as you DON'T want to lose those precious stats boosts), not to mention that the boss at the 6th palace is a bit different and one boss was added in the USA release that the JPN doesn't have.

  • @PikangsFutaba

Sunset Riders is worth the penny as you said, the SNES version is a 99% Arcade Port (yeah, there's that 1% that feels off, but is just a few nitpicks here and there that are irrelevant in the long run), yeah, is accurate to say that this is Contra with an old west theme (or something like that), the Genesis version is more of a Remixed game like how TMNT Hyperstone Heist is to Turtles in Time, the only thing that it could have helped a little bit was to have online mode, but still, not a problem overall, not to mention that you can also get it on Ps4/5 in case you don't have a Switch (which to be honest, is kind of a bad idea to NOT have a Switch).

Funny story about Super C, if you play the JPN version (while I can't remember the code) you actually get 30 lives instead of 10, and just like Contra, Super C is a common game to find for real hardware. Contra (or Gryzor in Japan... or Probotector in Europe) is still a great game nowadays, you can't go wrong with the NES version... which is easily playable as it's a common game on the real hardware (and even multicarts) and in current platforms (going on the legal side of course) you can get it on PC, Ps4/5, Xbox One/Series X/Series S and Switch along with Super C, Contra 3, Contra Hardcorps and the Arcade incarnations of Contra and Super Contra, by the way, when playing the JPN version if you hold I think Start and Select as soon as the ending starts and after the screen flashes after the credits, you get a special message from Red Falcon teasing Super C.

Batman... oh yeah... this game is tough as nails, but is one that is totally worth the trouble of enduring the pain to finish it, especially when you don't need to deal with the usual limited amount of continues that most games from the 80's and 90's had to make the games last longer when you don't know how to deal with the obstacles at the points you get stuck with losing all lives over and over, recenlty I got inspired to make better runs of both USA and JPN versions of Bayou Billy (due to your own playthrough of course). This game's huh..."sequel?" is also a good one, even if story-wise feels kinda forced (as during that time there was no Batman Returns) and also the innability to use punches but rather a "gun", and yeah, we can't go wrong with Ninja Gaiden (even if the 3rd game suffered the "Blockbuster Syndrome", because despite the worst change offenders being limited continues and increased damage from pretty much everything that didn't do 3HP damage in the JPN version, being able to overcome the obstacles is a bigger joy this time due to that restriction... something that SNES Trilogy made the change back to the NES JPN balances, making the game more fair and chill for players to enjoy at their own pace thanks to the Password system that allows us to take breaks with the ability to return on the stage we left off like the original JPN version... funny enough, Ninja Gaiden 3 is the true sequel of the 1st game and NG2 is in reality the sequel to Ninja Gaiden 3... as in the JPN version of NG3 when you leave the game at the "The End" screen for like 20 minutes... the game changes the copyright text into the "To be Continued... Ninja Gaiden II" message, of course, with the JPN name of the game... that text also exists in the USA release but unless you use a specific game genie code, the message is unused, probably because they didn't want players to get confused outside japan, but I believe some players knew better back then despite that, and heck, before I knew about that message, my friend and I put the bits together and we concluded that it was not the final NES game storywise, and like 2 years ago we found that we did our homework right as we found that to be continued message when we messed around with both USA and JPN NES versions).

Wow... I almost forgot that Irate Gamer is also a thing (well, back then was more active with those ranting reviews... again, just like AVGN was overexaggerated to have fun, as pretty much anyone knows Castlevania games overall are good, sure, they may have those slips like with the two versions of Castlevania on N64 (those are considered bad, I just feel that they might not have the same "Omph" like the others, but are far from being bad) but even so, I can't say those weak games are bad when we can see even worse games... usually coming from the unlincensed ones from the 90's especially), yup, Akumajou Dracula (as is the name of this Castlevania game in Japan) is tough, but not as frustrating as anyone would think, as it has that feel that you can figure out the best strategies to deal with the stages obstacles and bosses without having to learn hard tricks or what Dracula's Curse did... figuring out cheap strategies like how you can deal with ONE specific boss assuming you have Trevor and another optional character for example. I played this game for the first time around the 2000 and it was a great experience... with all the frustrations and joys of managing to outsmart the game's obstacles (however in terms of Castlevania, my joy of beating SNES Dracula X and the two versions of N64 surprass the NES games joys due to allowing me to do a bullying payback to my siblings as... just like Bayou Billy or Zelda 2, they failed big time, heck, with Castlevania 64 they got soft-locked and never figured out during the delivering of a bomb that they had to take ANOTHER route to get the bomb so they could deliver it to the place where you fight the Behemoth, and for Dracula X... they got stuck with the worst ending route at stage 5, they never figured out how to deal with the werewolf, and in my case not only I was able to swiftly deal with the werewolf, but in subsequent runs I was able to get the best ending, not to mention that my bros were only watching me and they felt their blood boil watching me countless times dying against Dracula in the cheap way of just getting thrown to the bothomless pit over and over, yup, they got frustrated despite of not playing at that time, but that only meant a good motivation to make a mockery of them by keep trying until I won... heck I even made fun of my own fails during that fight and got fun figuring out that one particular mechanic of that game can be used in your favor as long as you have enough HP for it... and that's to tank a hit while crouching to have no damage knockback so you don't get thrown to the pit). Edt: I still fell that it was crazy (but great) that in Smash Bros. Ultimate they added Dracula as a boss to deal with.. with his two forms... based on his Rondo of Blood incarnation, but said incarnation is pretty much a reference to this original Castlevania incarnation so.... they really nailed it, not to mention that they gave him a few new tricks or remixed some he had on previous games like Dracula's Curse flame pillars for example.

The games you mention being harder than Hagane, overall I agree, after all, these games has a fair share of trial and error, but some games (like Battletoads) really need a lot of practice compared to others to be beatable to some extent, not to mention that probably you end up finding your own exploits to these games (like how I do it with Bayou Billy to decrease the odds of having the enemy hitting me after they take a hit by a large scale... and it took me learning how much the attack animations of Billy last so I could time the hit when the attack animation is ending when the enemy aproaches me so they take a cheap hit instead). Sure, for me some of those other games you mention might not qualify as hard for me (like Return of the Jedi... a game that from time to time I pretend is the original Super Star Wars and do a full run pretending that I don't have the luxury of the Passwords as how said game was) but I can't deny that it's hard and it's place on the hardest SNES games is deserved. As for Hagane itself... I REALLY should give this game a try, not to mention that I'm planning to revisit some games that I played in the past that I liked it but are kinda obscure... like Twisted Tales of Spike Mc.Fang for example.
