I got a bubble mailer that was just too pretty to throw away. So on the suggestion of a lovely viewer (if it was you, say hi!), I used it to make the cover of a junk journal (see part 1 for that process). This video shows how I chose, created, and decorated the inside pages.

Thank you for sharing! Loved your punctuation comment. Me too. I am a "!" kind of gal though. LOL
I was wondering about you the other morning and voila you appear! So glad to see your layouts. I must say I am a fan of the simple ones! And the simplest of all is my favorite! Many times simple is harder than crowed. With so few pieces, each one must count! It sounds like you are living the creative life! Yay for you. I will be watching for your next video.
Thank you so much! I’m loving the simple ones too.
So enjoyed all your layouts! And your cat visiting! So cool about your classes, thank you for sharing! Wishing you the very best!
Thank you!
So nice to see you again. Your drawings are awesome! You * are * talented! TFS your layouts. Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving. 🦃
Thank you!!
Loved your layouts. Your dog made me look to see if it was mine wanting in
Ha! 😆 Thanks, Rita!
This was perfect. It wasn’t too long! I frankly love it when everything that typically would’ve had several parts is made into one organized video. The second one showing what you made was great.
Thank you!
Team fussy cut! Love my Woodies too. Thanks for the art journal page. So fun!
Great job! I always pack waaay too much stuff! Can I ask where the crop was, thanks.
Sure, it was in downtown Winston-Salem, NC.
I have to lol at myself. I walked off and left my trimmer at the house. I only went for 1 day but had a blast. Met new people and joined another group that is in the city for crops and a CM distributor. And i left the pre made kits with photos. Other than that, i had my to go container that is prepacked.
It’s so easy to leave those things we take for granted when we scrap! Glad you had a great time anyway. 😄
Thanks for the shout out! I have always gotten tons more done at crops than I do at home. At crops, I can chat and craft or just put on my headphones and retreat into my crafting. At home there is the laundry, the dog, the phone, and all the other things that distract me. Also, I find that I am most productive at the away crops, where I can craft as late as I want and I am not distracted by any “home life.” To me it is a retreat in the truest sense. I loved your layouts and was in love with your grid page and the flowers you got off the free table. They were gorgeous and matched your title beautifully. I hope your cropping continues and we get to see more videos like these last two. They were so fun to watch!
You’re exactly right - it’s getting away from all of the home stuff that helps so much. I’m hoping to go away away to a crop in January for the same reason. Thanks so much for your kind words!
@@liselovespaper if you ever decide to head up my way ( N. VA/ DC) let me know. There are several really fun and relaxing crops here. I would be glad to point you in their direction.
Elise, these are awesome! You really got a lot done on your crop! That little book is really amazing and I hope you flip through the rest of it with us when you complete it. I loved all of your layouts, it is hard to choose a favorite. I especially love the one you you and Leila - Love you a Latte, also love the Dapper Dude, the grid with Miso and that last one with Miso as your Crafty Companion. As always, I love your titles! Thanks for sharing! So glad you had a good crop and that you made new crafty friends!
Thank you so much, friend!
So glad you had a great first crop! Looks like you had a great supply that was very useful to you! Nice that you were close just in case you needed something! On to watch your next video with the layouts you made!
The MT kits came in clutch, for sure!
Both videos are awesome 🤩 I loved how you discussed your PLAN! I especially liked you showing what you took, then your setup there, and what you ended up using! And your fabulous layouts and albums 😊
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed them!
You got so much done! Love it! You may already know this but you can add foam tape in between the pages protectors of your mini album and it will help with the “gator” effect, hope that makes sense 🤗 TFS
Great idea, thanks! That makes complete sense. I was considering putting extra strips of card stock as shims to do the same once I’m done with the album but that may be an even easier solution!
Great packing job! Now to watch all your creations - TFS 🤗
Thanks!
I did not know that was your first ever crop! Wow, you did such a great job packing. At my first ever, I had two cart fulls of stuff and still didn’t arrive with what I needed. I am so glad you had a good time. I hope your table mates told you that at most crops, the aisles are not nearly that crowded and the tables are often covered with plastic or the tables are newer and not so rough. I look forward to seeing all you accomplished. It was great to finally get to say hello.
Thanks again so much for telling me about it! It’s good to know they’re not usually that crowded. 😅 So good to say hi, too!
@@liselovespaper most the crops I go to have a fair number of people but the aisles are a lot wider and people are very respectful in keeping the pathways clear. In the last 10 years, this is the first crop I have been too that was that packed in. I will let you know if I hear of others in your area.
I always take inks, stamps and dies and die machine. Did you miss not having access to them? I can’t wait to see your layouts. It’s sounds like you accomplished alot
No, I didn’t miss those things, but that’s because I don’t often use my stamps or dies. I tend to prefer to use stickers and premade ephemera/die cuts. Do you do primarily scrapbooking or card making, or both? I’m curious because I find that people who use stamps and dies tend to do more card making. I find it fascinating!
@@liselovespaper scrapbooking 99% of the time. I use ink on almost every layout but not always my stamps. More of a mix media touch. I use my dies to make ephemera using the paper in my kit. Mostly shapes for layering or making frames etc
@Nurse67 Smart! I need to use my stamps and dies more often and those are great ideas.
This turned out so awesome, Elise! I love your bright colorful pages and hearing your thought processes of how you chose what goes where. I hope you share more once you start working in it now that the foundation is built. LOVE it!
Thank you!!
I think your journal is amazing. Now I am thinking about what papers I can pull out and use for my own journal. First, I want to take a day to make painty papers. I just love the bright colored paper you used throughout your journal. Will you be showing it on this channel as you work on it? I would love to see it evolve. Hint, hint.
Thank you! Painty papers are so fun, that sounds like the perfect day to me. 😄 And I can definitely show more of this journal as I work in it. Would you prefer process videos or a periodic flip through?
@@liselovespaper I love process but being the greedy person I am, if you wanted to bring it to the Winston crop that would be nice too.
@susanferris Haha! Can do. 😄
Awesome journal, Elise! It is super fun watching this now as I work through Junk Journal July 2024 (first time). I love your fun, creative takes on the prompts and that you were so open to experimenting and trying new things. Especially when it is out of your comfort zone or not your fave (ie. Antique - which was one of my favorite pages). Super fun book! Love how chunky it is! ❤
Thank you!! It was definitely an exercise in letting go and just trying stuff. I learned a lot. And I love how chunky it is, too! I think my favorite thing about journals is the tactile feel of flipping through a fat journal. 😄
You did a great job. One suggestion. Instead of glue, you might try red line tape around the edges. It has a very strong hold and isn’t messy. I do think using glue in the center makes a lot of sense. What a beautiful mailer. It almost makes me want to buy something from Altenew to get such a pretty mailer😉
Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely avoid the mess next time. 😄
I love that Elise! Awesome job girl.
Thank you!!
Maybe using double-sided tear tape would work...maybe less messy! 😊
I’ll have to try that, I definitely am not a fan of the tacky glue. 😆
@liselovespaper me either!!! They have it as wide as 4 inches.
So happy to see I’m not the only one using my Felicity Jane box as a splat box haha
It was too pretty a box to recycle! 🤣
You could use Vellum to tone down a busy pattern paper. TFS! I really enjoy this series. 🌞
Great idea, thanks for the tip! I’ll have to try that. I always seem to forget about vellum.
Your last two layouts were definitely my favorites! I just love this series.
Thanks! I’m glad I kept going with those last two, haha! 😄
Hi Elise! I absolutely LOVE this series of Kit catch ups!! Your layouts are amazing and I just love seeing the progession. Can I ask a few questions.. Where do you end up donating to? I'm just wondering if I should scour my local thrift store more often haha. I'm also curious when you find the best time to scrap, with your kiddos being home for summer. Is it chunks of time or do you come and go from the layouts, early or late? Thanks so much! You're doing great!
Thank you so much! I have a local art resale business near me that takes scrapbooking stuff, but in the past I have donated to thrift stores and similar. As far as finding time to scrap, it’s honestly just pockets of time, usually in the afternoon. I don’t do well with 10/15 min here and there, so I don’t go scrap unless I can devote an hour or more to it. But I do sometimes leave a layout partially done and finish it later. It helps that my kids are older and very independent. Plus, they have space in the same room as my scrap area so we often will work together in the same space, doing different things. Great questions, let me know if you have any more!
@@liselovespaper Thank you so much! I absolutely love your channel and your work.. and this series of yours is my fave! So I do actually have another question! I'm a newbie to 12x12 spreads so what makes you more interested in buying "mixed" kits from Mercy Tiara or Hip Kit instead of buying the coordinating items from the collections/ company (ie. Pebbles - Cool Girl collection) and do the same sort of creations with the collection? I hope that makes sense!
@Primandplanning Totally makes sense! I think it comes down to how you scrap, honestly. I have tried working from a single collection and it just frustrates me because I often can’t find what I want or need within a collection. I have always preferred to mix and match bits and bobs to get exactly what I want. (For example, I’ll know my layout needs a hit of black, or a large embellishment, but often a single collection won’t have any black, or an embellishment the right size or shape.) It also feels more me, and more interesting to me visually. I know lots of scrappers are the opposite and prefer to know that everything matches and “goes” without having to think about it. So there’s no right or wrong way, it’s just that those types of kits work better with how my brain works when I scrap. Hope that answers your question!
@@liselovespaper Love it! Thanks so much for your crafty wisdom!
Elise i am going to order these little binders. I think i am going to love them for my Christmas ephemera. The bigger sticky ones we were talking about have been good so far. I did the sticker books in it, and i liked it. Space wise, those smaller ones might do the trick
Let me know how it turns out!
Helpful!
Loved the Volley Ball tearing. Love the gold which I use a lot for our school stuff. They all turned out great.
Thanks, Rita!
Enjoyed and loved every layout! TFS!
Thanks so much!
I’ve thought about using ribbon but haven’t figured out a way I’d like to incorporate it but I love this!! I’ve thought about using some and making it ruffled
I hope you do try it!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
1 or 2 hours! Oh how I wish. 😂 me NOPE... more like days. Bahahaha. Cute layout.😊
It definitely used to be me too! I’ve found that working (mostly) from a kit helps.
That's a super cute layout, girl! Love what you did to the butterflies. Great way to add color without adding color...if you know what I mean. 💜💜💜
Thank you! I do know what you mean. 😄
I love that your kitty "helps" you. We have one of those too. 😻
I love it too. My older kitty who passed last year was the same, and I’ve missed having a helper!
Thanks for posting this layout. It is one of my favorites. I love the title, the mass of butterflies and the way you created three tags when there are really only two.
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love ALL of these layouts, Elise! Great designs, and great work using a more complicated kit (mine is still untouched). "Meet Miso" may be my fave, but I love how the star burst one turned out too, and how you angled the embellishments to align w/ the rays. Awesome design elements that I'll have to remember! Thanks for sharing, love these kit catch-ups!
Thank you so much!
Wonderful layouts! I enjoy your videos, the way you show everything, then coming back and go over what you did 🥰. My favorite is the last one, your use of color is awesome 👏
Thank you so much!
@@liselovespaper 🥰
I put this video in my layouts to try pile. The soccer ball kick with perfect form was my favorite layout!
So fun, enjoy!
Great job! I love kit catch up
Thanks!
Also, I wanted to tell you the butterfly was absolutely my favorite layout!
Oh, yay! ❤️ I’m hoping to have the process video for that one edited and up later next week, so keep an eye out if you want to see it from start to finish.
Your layouts were great. Funny thing, I just cancelled my subscription to Hip Kit Club for the same reasons. Although I love their papers, I never used their die cuts. I decided that when they have papers I like I will just purchase them as a separate item.
Thanks! I know, I really love their papers. That’s a good idea!
The layouts turn out cute
Thanks!
I have Lego cities too, I love them , put together years ago but I will never get rid of them, they never get old
They’re just so fun! I need more space so I can add to the collection. 😅
Love it!
Thanks!
It was awesome how you tied everything together so beautifully. You are a wonderful mother 😊
Thank you so much!
This is a great layout! I actually love all the colors and the busy embellies and paper.
Thank you!! I just can’t seem to help myself. My layouts always get busier than I plan for them to. 😄
I think outlining the page really pulled everything together! So glad you involved your daughter in the process.
Thanks! This TH-cam channel gains me cool points with the preteen…for now. 😅
I love how you used that frame paper. I tend to love the frame papers but never know what to do with them.
Thanks! Me too - the frame papers always seem to stump me. It was fun to give this a try.
