The Joy of Receiving
มุมมอง 1421 วันที่ผ่านมา
It is a joy to receive and it is an art. Compliments are an easy way to practice and experience this joy. We all secretly want to be seen and appreciated for who we are and what we do. Notice, feel, breathe, let the compliment land, then, and only then, say “thank you” and shhhhh (finger to mouth), no buts, no qualifiers, just “thank you”. (Susan) 25.12.2024
Two Kinds of Joy
มุมมอง 528 วันที่ผ่านมา
There is the everyday kind of joy with its big and small delights and there is the quieter joy that comes from meditation, from setting aside the busyness of the everyday and letting the organism settle into a bit of ease. (Susan) 12.18.2024

Pita: The joy that comes from our meditation practice
มุมมอง 1หลายเดือนก่อน
We can experience a happiness that is not dependent on pleasant vedena - the dhamma joy that comes with fully being with what is arising and passing with acceptance, non-judgment, interest, and care. (Catherine G). 12.09.2024
Moments of Joy: on and off the cushion.
มุมมอง 29หลายเดือนก่อน
Joy is a central factor in Buddhist teachings. Joy can be experienced during formal practice, while we sit, alone and/or with a sangha. And it can arise off the cushion too, when we practice kindness, appreciation and gratitude. What brings you joy? (Fabiola) 12.04.2024
Introducing Pitta, the 4th awakening factor
มุมมอง 7หลายเดือนก่อน
Pitta, joy, is not dependent on any outside circumstances but instead arises from our practice and our freedom from greed and aversion. It can arise in the midst of pleasant and unpleasant conditions. We can see joy manifested in the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. (Lee) 12.02.2024
Two considerations for working with ENERGY
มุมมอง 18หลายเดือนก่อน
The first way is to assess for balance. Is energy balanced in the sweet spot of 4-6 on a 1-10 scale? The second way asks, Is energy being used to let go of the unwholesome, or to not invite the unwholesome around? AND Is energy being used to keep the wholesome around, or to invite the wholesome around?

Where you guys located
This is excellent. Well said. I love that Bill patiently, quietly, calmly meditates next to Susan, suggesting to our minds to do likewise as we ponder these ideas in our own lives. I made a new year's resolution last year to be more deliberate in all my actions, and it helped quite a bit. It is a practice that takes diligence and willingess to pick back up and try again when we slip back into our old habits. Thank you for sharing this. All my love to you both.
This was timely for my life today. Thank you for these little meditative dispatches into the ethers. 🙏
I appreciate your work so much. 🙏

I also would love to know.
Ageing is the most marginalized group which seems to engender embarrassment and dismissal among everyone in the United States. Even among western Buddhists, there is no active acknowledgment, Accommodation or appreciation of the needs that are present.
promosm ?
Thanks for this teaching. I turned 60 in September and gifted myself my first tattoo that represents “transformation of mental health through awareness and compassion.” May we age with humor and grace.
