Every reason to not buy Triumph Scrambler 400x. All possible problems!
Sharing my list of everything that could be a problem for prospective buyers of Triumph Scrambler 400x. Picking up every small issue so please do use your judgement. Also, I would still buy this bike if I could take this decision again.
Note I’m not discussing;
(1) mileage because I’m not fit to calculate it the right way
(2) service because it hasn’t been a negative for me, and
(3) prices or availability of spare parts because too early to evaluate these IMO
I thought I’ll do a POV for this one to see how vlogging feels like but DJI didn’t pick my voice clearly. 😅

Triumph Scrambler to Spiti, right choice? Owner’s review!
มุมมอง 4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Reviewing my newly bought triumph scrambler 400x after the recent Spiti ride, sharing my first impressions on how good this bike is on tough terrains. Did 1800 kms from Delhi to Manali to Kaza to Shimla and back and you’ll notice I’ve used it as how a scrambler should be used. This review was an afterthought when me and my co rider pondered over how many scramblers might have been abused so far...
As a biker, i agree India bewkoofo se bhra pra 😑.
India bewokufo se bhara pada hua hai 😂 💯
Nice video man, could you share your review about wind blast on highway cruising
Thank you! 🙂 There's no fairing so yes there is a substantial wind blast post 90kmph, depends on how well you take it but if you need to cruise at a higher speeds for long times, yes - you'll need a big windscreen installed.
I think you are from Vibration Enfield but the Truth is Broo Scram400X is the Best
Want to know more about your route and road conditions. Still where we can get good road and from where the bad road starts
Lovely
Did you have any issue with the front high mud gaurd while riding on wet roads? Did it throw water on your headlamp??
Yes, it does. But not a lot. A 'jugaad' is to keep the current mudguard (stock) and attach high mudguard on the bike anyway (watch bullu biker's bike). But looks badass I must tell you, so all is forgiven. 😅😅
@@harshit_chugh yes I did see his bike and compared with mine to realise the difference. But in his video I don't think he mentioned that. I was thinking of doing that same 'jugaad' but first wanted to see if it's just me or everyone is having this issue.
Bhot hit krti he bhai
Bhai ap konsi riding denims use karr rhe? Make a video on riding gear if possible
Sure, mere paas 2 denims hai, bikerrati and solace, both are good. Gear pe video ayegi, kaafi mistakes kari maine gear kharidne mein that I'd like to share with people. 😅 Pls subscribe so you dont miss it. 😊
Bhat hit kr rahi bhai
Nice Video..!! & can i join you..?? im also having scrambler & need a genuine & little professional group for riding.
I do music.. Not everyone drugs Or drinks...

Iam a guy who is on heavier(95kgs) and taller side(5.11)would i consider speed 400 for my daily basis in life and do this bike looks really small on heavy people i really love the fit And finish on triumph motorcycles🫤 what are your views please comment
Speed would def look small on you, but if you can oversee the visual aspect, its a good bike. I think scram would look good on you, and it's mostly better than speed on all aspects. At 95kgs on a 5'11 frame, I don't think it would look too bad on you, espc if you will ever put a side bag / luggage system. 😀
@@harshit_chugh well then i should take the test ride of scrambler as well Thanks for responding 👍🏾
Can you suggest the best bike for daily travel and long drives at weekends
Its the best bike bro i've recently brought it like 6months ago & completed a big tour of 4 states & almost complted 7k+ kms on my scrambler 400x offcourse there are positive & negatives & minor issues which can be solved & even if you buy africa tiwns you'll still complain about something or the other but personally i feel that this bike gives you a good vibe & big bike feel ❤ & that what matter as a biker. & in my whole tour the bike never gave any one issue . it ran smoothly till the time i came back home ♥️ love Triumph❤
Hey man, nice review, BTW what would be better deal breaker speed400 or cb350rs
I own the RS and would recommend the triumph
I own a speed 400, ridden about 4000 km and I'm absolutely in love with it❤. How could the shape size looks be problem for someone who's owing the bike. Did u buy such expensive things blindly or what??? Test ride k time needle aur digit acche the aur baad me bekar hogaye kya😅 talk abt some real issues bro...this is kinda back bitching...😂
I’m not agree with you. You’re complaining about things that means something for you but for the most riders this isn’t any problem. I have driving motorcycles more than 47 years, so I have the experience with many bikes and this bike is really good ❤
Bhai itna bhi problem nhi hai😂 Mere pas bhi hai headlights aur brakes ko chhod ke koi problem nhi hai…
Honestly mujhe to wo dono bhi problems nahi lagte, but video mein wo batana chahta tha jo maybe kisi ke liye problems ho sakte hai. In fact, brakes se to main impressed hu, triumph ne scrambler bola and scrambler bechi, nothing less. See my other comments and video description, I'll close my eyes and buy this bike again if I get a chance to go back in time. Pata nahi kaise kara bajaj ne at this price, but jo kara wo baht faadu hai.
Done a test ride and didn't like the brake bite. Second thing is the shape of the seat. Found it uncomfortable. You end up seating mostly in the front part of the seat.
Thanks for sharing this video 🙏 👍 Given a choice which one shall you buy? Honda CB350RS OR Scram400x I do understand that these both bikes have different purposes but still which one shall you opt for? Your opinion may support me to take a final call on my buy 🙏
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. 🙂 I had the honda cb350rs earlier, sold it about two months ago. When I bought the cb350rs, I was coming back to biking after close to 9 years so you can imagine how much fun I had on it. You haven't mentioned what is the purpose of your purchase, but you rightly said that these are two very different bikes. I'll give you my general comments / impressions around both bikes since I don't have a lot of background here. What worked in Honda's favor is first and foremost the engine's refinement, it is really impossible to ever feel that it is in stress. Even at redline, you'd not find a reason to complain about vibrations or harshness. In fact, this is why I did talk about vibrations in this video; standalone the triumph is good, but Honda is in another league altogether. While I was purchasing cb350rs, I didn't realise how drastically my use case will change and I'll actually start touring on a bike. On the mountains, the excellent slipper clutch, the long gearing, the refined engine just made it a blast to ride on twisties, until you witnessed a steep slope where the long gearing made life difficult for the bike. Espc downhill, this bike was fun to the point that I'm smiling while writing this comment recollecting my memories. But what you should consider while thinking of Honda is that it has no torque rush (like the REs or the Triumph400s) so it might happen that you'll outgrow the bike really quick. That is what happened to me. The engine and the gearing combo lacks something I cannot explain (maybe some character?). Compared to Triumph, the honda was a long stroke engine so it had a mature feeling about it, the triumph is more young blood it feels. Also, the exhaust note is superb on the cb350, but its not too bad on the triumph either. The extra bonus on the honda was the exhaust pops and barfs when you were redlining it. That is missing in the Triumph (but maybe a performance air filter might fix it, video coming soon 😉). I can expand more on both bikes, but I guess you are looking for the conclusion, which is that I'd buy the Triumph. While Honda has its goods and bads, I feel the triumph is just more bike per rupee. I'll conclude by sharing that except the exhaust pops, I miss nothing much about the Honda right now. But I haven't experienced enough of Triumph service yet, so that is to be seen. Oh btw, if you going to use it as a daily ride and stay in Blr or Mumbai or a place where it rains frequently, do know that the cb350rs would spoil your shoes, pants and bag. Almost impossible to ride it without the mudguard extender, which is ugly IMO. Likewise if you stay in a hot or humid place, do consider that the triumph heats up substantially more than the cb350rs.
Dear Harshit, First of all many thanks for your Immediate response. Appreciate your thoughts & detailed reply. I have taken a test ride of CB350 Highness & was impressed with the performance especially the smooth stress-free motor. My inclination is towards Honda CB350 Highness. Also I have been using Honda Stunner for last 16 years & have confidence in Honda engine reliability backed by good service support. Motor of stunner is still butter smooth. My use shall be for city commute & long touring purpose. Maybe once a year North offroad ride, which I haven't yet explored. Hence, I was thinking of a bike more for comfort & relaxed ride. I shall be taking a test ride next week in Triumph showroom next week for 400x in Thane. Will be able have much clarity then I guess. Once again thank you for revert & wish you a nice weekend. 🙏👍🙏
No problem at all, hope you'd make the right choice. With the use case you mentioned, I personally think Honda would suit you more, its easier to ride overall (approachable, quick enough, smooth / moderated engine braking unlike triumph, has the most vibration free engine in this class right now, decent enough suspension, light(est) clutch, smooth gearbox), this bike has almost all going for it. Plus if you keep your bikes for such a long period, there is no other contender. Good luck Vaibhav!
Thanks Harshit Wish you loads of success in your TH-cam venture 🤞
@@harshit_chugh in the same boat as u, am coming back to biking after almost a decade, my dad's rx100 was the last bike I rode. Even I absolutely love the looks of the honda cb nd triumph scrambler. I've shortlisted these two. Was going through ur points, nd was wondering how the suspensions compare in both. A major criteria for me is that the ride should be plush enough for bad roads nd potholes. How would u rate them in this regard??
Good stuff man. It's a solid machine. But every one is just fan boy-ing it. This is the most comprehensive video detailing the possible downsides. Something folks should be aware before getting it.
Thank you! That was the thought, awareness. But yeah solid machine nonetheless, espc when you bring in the price it comes at.
Thank you brother. I really love you video
Oye hoye kya baat
I own a scrambler 400x and have clocked over 4000 km. I'm telling you honestly, it's such a lovely machine to live with. It will never let you down, no matter how bad the roads are. I agree that headlight illumination is very poor, so aux lights are recommended. I dont see any issues with the front brake (organic) because it saved me a lot while riding over mud and sad. It should be progressive, and it was given for a purpose. So, that can't be a problem. And of course, many people find the side stand annoying. But the above-mentioned problems in my comment are not a big deal at all. Apart from these, whatever you are saying is just an unnecessary complaint. Your complaints are the very character of the bike. Single-cylinder engines tend to vibrate, and that's their nature. This bike is very refined and smooth compared to other bikes. You won't even find these vibes bothering you, even if you're revving to it's limits. And of course, if it's 400 cc, the engine will heat up, and you have to live with it. But the heat is manageable, and the heat doesn't directly blow on your legs. It's well designed to push the heat away. The seat height is not at all an issue. Short riders should learn to ride tall bikes instead of blaming the design of the bike. Scramblers are meant to have tall seats. I don't see any deal-breaking issues here. It's such a lovely machine to live with.
Yes I agree your point bro, even I did my test ride today, its such a lovely machine, powerful and grunty, with just 2.7lakh they are giving international level quality and details, but people always expect more and he is complaining some points which are not at all cons for this bike
Probably the purpose and the audience of the video is misunderstood. What I'm trying to share is everything that could be a POSSIBLE problem for people, most of these characteristics do not bother me for example - not even the headlight - which is why I said in the description that I'll buy this bike again if I get a chance. I understand the video discussed only negatives, so some of us may get an impression that I'm trying to pull its credibility down, we'll discuss soon why I love it. That said, I have a few comments for some thoughts you shared, will put them down; Brakes - Like I also mentioned, purpose built, but you cannot take away the fact that the bite is not suited for Indian highways. Hope you never get to witness it, but one incident of an idiot jumping the signal sent me straight to service for getting the pads swapped. I enjoy offroading, so I have the originals with me to use when I want. Vibrations- For Indians who will graduate from CBZs, Pulsars, Apaches - yes there are vibrations, this is something that depends on your reference point. Coming from a cb350, I sense a lot of Vibrations. Riders coming from d390 might find the bike comparable. Europeans too. But again, majority of Indian bikes are not running high compression like the dukes or the triumph so you may understand the perspective. Heat - if it will be a daily use bike for some of us, they should consider the problem. Seat height - Again could be a potential problem. I'd love to know what you think could be potential problem for people considering this bike (except headlight) and if you cannot name 5, you are in blind love ❤️
very well said
For me the bike is small, i prefer the Himalayan for daily commute
It looks small , so no
Looks small but in person its as big as the 1200xe..
Should one buy this bike?
Depends on what you like in a bike. Generally, there is nothing wrong with this bike that I consider a deal breaker. If I get to make this decision again, I'll buy this bike again. 😎
@@harshit_chugh thanks man.
hi, which one is better in comparison, scrambler 400 or duke 390. i prefer light weight, less heat, vibrations, mostly city ride and weekend touring. no pure off roading. appreciate your response
Hi, difficult to answer through the comment section but sharing my 2 cents either way. 😆 I think what you should answer first is what's your riding style. I was talking to someone yday about how triumph is absolutely an opposite of d390. While duke is super fun if you like to ride throttle full open, triumph has most of its strengths shown at lower revs. The end result is that d390 is crazy fun when you are in the mood and when you have an open road, and triumph is fast in most situations WITHOUT AN EFFORT. Duke will hurt you because its just damn fast for Indian situations. Triumph will hurt you because it's so effortless and less intimidating than any other bike that you'll start doing a higher average speed than usual. End of day, do a lot of test rides, like multiples and see which one you connect with the most. On most things that you've mentioned, i think both are comparable (except vibrations on duke are apparent at lower revs and on triumph when you rev it high, and duke is lighter). Good luck, hope you'll make the right choice for yourself!
@@harshit_chugh thank you for your time and sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate 👍
Riding gears details, please ?
Sure, here you go; Boots: Lone Ranger Denims: Solace Gloves: Solace Helmet: SMK Jacket: my newest acquisition, It is from RS Taichi, Drymaster Kompass, got it from Vietnam through a friend. Can answer specifics right now if you have any questions, will create a detailed video later around how I made so many mistakes around buying the gear and luggage not suited to my case (and taste).
@@harshit_chugh Thanks buddy for the details yes u can make specific video on this topic love to watch
You're some hardcore RE fan aren't you? 😂
🤣🤣 Definitely not. My co-rider to Spiti was riding a Himalayan with me. I've been trying to convince him ever since to sell it.
India bewakoofose bhara pada hai - right on the money 😅
🤣
For English is there any sub
Hey. I'll see if I can find a way to get it added somehow while being lazy at the same time. 😛 But if you do have a specific question, type here! I'll try to help.
90 kph comfortable top speed!!?? Sounds like a major deal breaker.
Yes, consider 90kmph a cruising speed where engine will feel it's best. For short bursts or when you are in mood for some fun, you can go much higher obviously. And the best part is that even when cruising at 90 @ 6th gear, the response is almost instantaneous when you open the throttle. Also, would like to share my reference point is the honda cb350rs, which is literally the king of refinement. 😅 My co rider who rides the old Himalayan, said while vibrations are noticeable, they are not bothersome.
120 kmph is also comfortable, If you hit 140kmph+ you still left with more throttle left to hit.
I keep wondering why people complains or even mention vibration for a 400 CC liquid cooled short stroke engine. These are meant to vibrate. If you consider CB 350 as a point if reference then I must say it is utterly wrong as CB is an air cooled long stroke engine . Single cylinders are meant to vibrate. If anyone has issues then they should upgrade to online three or four or least a parallel twin.
160 jati he but het bhot he
I feel it's just a thing to get used to. If you are coming from a 150-200 cc segment and start expecting similar level of quietness from this engine then you'll get it till 80-90 kmph. Above that engine does start getting buzzier but the bike or the chassis doesn't feel stressed. You can easily Cruze all day long at 120kmph it's just that your engine will make more noise as compared to 200cc bike (which is quite logical as well).
Radiator nhi uska fan loud hota h 😂 correct yourself bro!
😅😅😅 Correction: Iska cooler loud hai 😋
Thanks, needed to know these things
Anytime. Hoping you'll not take a decision to not buy this bike after watching this video 🤣 The bike is overall a good buy. 😅😅
Informative, thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!

Video on why you should not buy the nx500 would be short. Everything that can be improved about it can be summed up in one word: Price. 😄

Bro if you are reading this .. please answer this question this for me ! I really loved this bike.. my ht is 5.7 almost 170 cm,should i go with this? Will it be a deal breaker for me 🥹! Please help
Hey, I'm also 5'7 but I mostly wear boots when riding this bike. I have set the preload of the rear shock to it's lowest. With these two helps, I've faced an issue never but once when the bike stalled in the middle of a U-turn and I had my wife riding with me (usually I ride alone). So here's the suggestion; If you can afford to ride the bike with boots and without a pillion for maybe a few months, you'll understand the bike enough to manage the seat height. If you still do not, get a few millimeters shaven off from the seat foam (but my guess is you'll not need that). Personally, I was quite scared of the seat height initially because I've never ridden a tall bike before this. I got some confidence when the triumph dealer took me to an empty playground to test the bike off road, and I decided to purchase the bike. Now after a couple of thousand kms, I feel seat height was more of a mental block than physical, I try and find reasons to 'scramble' with the bike, and get into situations where I know my feet will not touch ground without hip tilt, but I'm not scared, this bike kind of does that to you. Also, the bike is light footed when standing still / when you are pushing it at fuel pump queues, not like the Himalayan 452. Phew, long answer. Note whatever I said applies to 90% of situations and I'm sure I'll come across a scenario where I'll wish to be riding a bike with lower seat height, but I'm also sure rest of the fun times will make up for it.
@@harshit_chugh thanks brother that really helps alot. Truth be told lot of people told me that its not suitable for you .. its your first time as a bike rider .. that really put me in an emotional low ball .. i have take two test rides of small duration and find it doable only. But people were like its too high you will break your ankle 🥹 or go for speed . Your answer really helped me and will help anyone who comes through this comment section. Wishing you for your channel growth.. and you earned a follower today🔥🔥🔥 If fate meet will catch on a road trip very soon
Hi bro whats the mileage you're getting in this bike, how to ride it to get a good decent mileage. I'm planning to buy one. Please reply
Hi, unfortunately I've not done the mileage test yet and since I was getting to know the bike I've not been riding with a uniform throttle input either. With this, the onboard computer showed me 31kmpl on my last long ride, which did include a lot of offroad. Hope this helps!
@@harshit_chugh hey thanks for the info, I appreciate your genuine answer.
Hey, Great review! This particular bike has been on my mind for a few weeks now, but I'm still skeptical about its performance in the mountains. Could you provide more information on its average performance, how it handles mountain terrain, and its capacity for carrying luggage? Thanks!
Hey! You must have heard of the good low end torque on this bike numerous times now - let me confirm its a blessing unmatched when you are in the mountains. I had zero complains at the mountains, you can just pull and pull with luggage. You will also find you need lesser gear changes than any usual bike. And this is true for both off and on road terrains. Except the radiator thing (I'll talk about this in my next video, coming soon), I didn't find any other issues when in mountains.
@@harshit_chugh That's great brother !! I hope to get my hands on this super soon !! And thank you for your reviews !! Cheers !! Keep riding
What is your height without riding shoes??& What tank range you got in hilly regions?
I'm 5'7 without shoes. The bike feels light in almost all situations, the only time I had a problem was once when the bike stalled while I was taking a U turn. I got a range of approx 300kms, but the fuel guage is unreliable, so range anxiety used to kick in around 250kms mark.
Great to the point review. Looking forward to the next one rider
Made more tour videos
Hey! Thanks for the info! About the vibration: As an owner myself, there's noticeable vibes at 90kmph in the footpegs but they surprisingly disappear after 100 and below 85. Also, I'd request you to get the first service done and share your insights once again. I'm due on 2nd July for the first service. Cheers!
Hey! Rider to rider - welcome and thanks for watching the video. I did my first service in advance @600kms before I left for Spiti. The service experience was nothing extraordinarily good or bad, which is a good thing. With the 10W50 oil they filled, service costed me Rs2200 here in Gurgaon (incl chain lube). After coming back from Spiti, I went to the service center again, to get the front brake pads swapped, and the experience was good this time, on time delivery and they had let me stand next to bike and engaged a good conversation. Happy riding!
