110 point solo match with only specimens. Context - We couldn’t do specimens at all in the previous comp. This was meant to be a backup but works surprisingly well. #ftc #engineering #robotics

Prototyping for FRC
มุมมอง 10011 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video is meant to show teams that you don't need to worry to much about the perfect design. Get a prototype working first, then go from there. You want to make sure you don't lock yourself into a bad design. Using modular parts like SureFrame from Automation direct can be helpful as well. This will allow you to rapidly test different constraints. Again, shout out to team 7514 - EVE Robotic...
Very interesting

Nice specimens are going well.
Not well enough for us to confidently use them in matches though. The mechanism is still kinda janky.
What makes the claw let go of the specimen?
@ARandomMidnight the whole robot backs up. Basically, the claw is two slabs of polycarbonate with a 3d print to keep them from falling off. When the robot backs onto the specimen, the polycarb flexes out of the way, then clamps onto the specimen. When we are releasing on the high rung, the opposite occurs.
Oh hey guys I was not expecting yall to be on my feed 😅 Unfortunate that y’all aren’t in FRC anymore. Anyways, props to the coders 68 points is crazy
Yep! That’s Luke! Not only is he the only programmer, he is also the driver!
It handles balls better than a gay bartender at a bear bar 😂
ILL BUY YOUR ENTIRE STOCK!
You guys do know you can’t use neutrals for specimens
We know. This practice for the drivers on the in-competition practice field.
Whats the purpose of the skinny elbow pieces bending upward? Cable management, and then you wanted it to be semetrical?
I believe those are linkages that power their slides which allow them to extend forward, but also serve to aid in cable management- hope this helps!
On our first intake iteration (comps 1-2), we actually had only one slide and a smaller intake. Our main issue was that the connection was super janky and inconsistent. We decided to completely revamp the intake for the third comp, and one servo was too little to have it extend at a reasonable speed, so we just added a second connection.
Ive seen a lot of teams, mine included, rely on that specimen for their clip autos, could cause problems in alliances. Just be aware
Yeah. In our last comp, we had the same thing happen matches 4 and 5. We still have our 0+4 as a backup for these situations, although there aren’t a ton of teams who have a consistent 2 or more specimen auto in our league.
@FirestormRobotics lucky. My league is pretty stacked
"68 point autonomous" lol wut?
Is this using odometry?
Yes, It does. Our drivetrain is the goBilda strafer chassis kit.
I’m dumb, this is cool af
Is it tracking the thing
No, we have not added tracking yet. We have our autonomous move to a general location then our intake corrects the rest.
Like he said, for auto, it just goes in that general direction and it’s up to the human player to make the adjustment. Although this was drive practice, same thing applies.
its actually 120 becuase specimens are doubled in Automonous
It's actually 68 because they doubled the points already
I sure wish it was 120 points.
This is supposed to be uploaded as a video but TH-cam won’t let me do that so a short it is.
Freaking love robots
I was in #1741 Red Alert Robotics, I was friends with people on #45 The Techno cats, it is absolutely crazy to me how big the numbers are getting!! Keep it up guys!!
There was a 45??? Was there a 1??
This is cool and all but what’s the point?
Wdym
nightmare fuel for your kids when they don't pick up their toys.
This is for a robotics challenge where kids build to practice their skills.
Knowledge

Bro the zip tie 🤣
If it works it works
I think your scoring is wrong for auton. I could be wrong but I think total is 102 not 134
The samples count twice in auto. Normally, 4 samples is 32 points, but since it was all scored in auto, it counts twice.
Yeah the samples scored in auto count for the autonomous period but also for the teleop period
Ohh I see. Thxs for clarifying
What happened to the FRC team?
I find this intriguing.
