If anything, I would switch that around. Modest Mouse used to open for Built to Spill and Isaac Brock has clearly stated that Doug and the Treepeople made him want to start a band. I know that your comment wasn't negative or anything, but Brock definitely took a lot from Built to Spill and some people honestly aren't aware of that.

I think this song is a story told straightforward about someone who left out into the world, college maybe, and taken with them something precious and delicate which is never named, but is actually a metaphor for the persons perceived self-image, their ego, which has taken a bit of a beating out there in the real world, and now the person has returned home, and doug is trying to remind her (probably her) of who they really are.

it means something different to whoever listens to it. id say to me it means you can perceive your whole life one way when it was wrong all along cause you forgot to "carry the zero" thats just my interpretation tho.

Doug Martsch is such a great musician/musical composer/poet. He's been around forever. Everybody should check out one of his first bands called TREEPEOPLE...their record was released in 1989. Good stuff!!
