This channel primarily features horse racing footage, mostly from Northern California but you might find videos from other circuits as well. In October 2024 I received DVDs with all of the content that had been in Bay Meadows' video archive. I am now in the process of uploading the content to TH-cam. During the next 1-3 years you can expect to find a lot of footage of stakes races contested at Bay Meadows between 1981 and 1996.
1988 G2 Bay Meadows Handicap: Wait Till Monday (Ire)
Wait Till Monday (Ire) pressed the pace, took over turning for home, and drew clear under jockey Ricardo Dominguez to post a 25-1 upset in the 1988 G2 Bay Meadows Handicap for trainer Victor Garcia. The final time of 1:46 established a course record for about 1 1/8 miles on turf.
The 1988 Bay Meadows Handicap was Wait Till Monday's only graded stakes victory. The son of Maelstrom Lake (Ire) placed in two group stakes in Ireland as a 2-year-old and won the 1988 Henry P. Russell Stakes at Oak Tree in his North American debut. He retired with a record of 37-6-5-3 and $278,289 in earnings.
Skip Out Front, winner of the G1 American Handicap earlier in the year, finished third. Simply Majestic was fifth in what was his first start following his third-place effort in the G1 Breeders' Cup Mile. Variety Road was ninth.

May 17-June 6 Racing from Bay Meadows replay show
มุมมอง 57928 วันที่ผ่านมา
In 2002-04, I would tape the Northern California replay show and after two years I had a pile of VHS tapes. Only some of these tapes survived a purge made my mother after I left home. In 2011, I took the remaining tapes back with me back to my new home in New York and digitized and uploaded some of the races onto this channel. I discarded the tapes after that, a decision I came to regret. In 20...

I was at there at Bay Meadows for the very last race. Also unfortunately I was at Golden Gate Fields Racetrack last June on the second to the last day of racing.
As of today (following the closure of the Golden Gate Fields), The Pleasanton Fairgrounds Racetrack is the only horse racing venue in the San Francisco Bay Area
Love Calder so sad to see this track gone
Frank Alvaro won at Santa Anita this week in January 2025 😮
lol Todd Schrupp from Fan Duel racing 😂😂
Did Hoof Hearted race on the day?? 😂😅😂

Wow glad u showed this can u continue starting with the 1991 and any old coverage of stakes from all over ty
I have some Hialeah uploads from 2001 coming up before I upload some Bay Meadows races from 1987, 1993, and 2008 before I will start working upward on my Bay Meadows footage from 1981.
Look at how young Todd Schrupp was. Racing just had a different feel back then, I miss it.
I'll be uploading the full episode tomorrow. Look for even more footage of Todd Schrupp!
I always loved Phil Saltzman
I always thought Calder was an easier handicap than Gulfstream.
Hey do turfway park or Churchill downs Ellis park or keenland and or oaklawn park same yr or 92 thru 96
Thanks for the videos ! Brings back a lot of great memories of my childhood 😊
Always fun watching one your horses win a race. Thanks Jon
I gotta say, you do an incredible job with these videos. I thoroughly enjoy relaxing at home and watching these races daily. Personally, I worked in Southern California at the big tracks throughout my 29 years with horses. In 1989, I took a horse up to Bay Meadows to run in a cheap race... nothing special. But what was special was the horse was claimed, and Instead of returning to Santa Anita, I stayed at BM and looked for a job. I ended up rubbing horses for Jim Hilling in 1989 through 1991. It was a great time in my life. Just taking In the sights, going over to GG when the BM meet was over...it was truly a life lesson on you'll never know what's out there if you don't live a little. I always look for races from 89' to 91', but I haven't seen anything yet. My biggest day was rubbing the winners of the daily double one day back In 89' I believe. Ron Hanson rode both horses...one trained by Jim and one that was sent up north from Neil Drysdale to break his maiden, which he did impressively. When I bet the double, with 5 minutes to post, it was paying $17. When all was said and done, it ended up paying $9 or $11 and change after Wayne McDonnell went to the window for him and Ron's bet. I should have known...lol. Anyways, again, I for one truly appreciate the time you spend putting these clips together, and will look forward to future posts.
Are you suggesting Ron Hansen wasn't totally on the up and up? O_O :-D But seriously, thank you for your story. I will be posting some footage from 1989-1991 in the future, but it's only going to be stakes races.
@airforbes1 Ron was Ron...that's for sure. He had a great feel for the horses..a true natural. Really sad what happened to him. He just needed to downshift in life but kept going for a.gear that didn't exist. It was fun times...
Nice job. A lot of times the old replay shows weren't archived by the tracks
It's always nice seeing your name pop up. If you like old replay shows, you are in for a treat. Later this month I'll be taking a break from Northern California content to post some Calder (1992 and 2001) and Hialeah (2001) replay show footage that was provided to me by a friend.
@@airforbes1 Thanks, I took a break for a while, I'm trying to get back motivated. I look forward to those FL replays. Used to love Phil Saltzman's Calder calls. Keep up the great work

Great post!!
Thank you for the memories. I am one of El Atroz owners.
Thank you for watching! I wish I had his other victories in the collection of DVDs that was given to me, but I think the 1993 El Camino is the only one I have. I do have the 1993 Bay Meadows Derby in which he finished second. I will be posting that within the next 1-2 months.
Plz kp the old school videos coming and go to turfway park Ellis park oaklawn park early 90's to early 2000 ty
Great memories, thanks from Tijuana MX
do you have the 2003 meadow brook hurdle in full race?
Unfortunately, I don't have that, just a few flat graded stakes and Bay Meadows races from late May until early June of 2003.

Hey do the 1992 oaklawn park stakes races or at least do the festival of the South ty and plz kp all videos coming and u should do all tracks like this it's cool
I attended and worked at Bay Meadows back in the day, and in October of this year somebody who worked for the track's video department sent me DVDs of all of the content in the track's video library (mostly stakes contested between 1981 and 1996). I have A LOT more to upload. I would be open to uploading footage from other tracks in the future if the tracks or fans sent me the tapes, but I don't have a lot of time and I don't have much in terms of equipment (they would have to be in VHS, DVD, or video file format). I will be uploading some footage from Calder and Hialeah within the next few weeks.
@@airforbes1 Hialeah and Calder!!! Yes!!! Thank you
Hopefully it's from 80's and 90's
@@racing747 I have one day of races from Calder in 1992 (Princess Rooney Handicap day) and several days of racing from Hialeah and Calder from 2001. It's all from tapes of the South Florida replay show that a friend gave me to digitize for him. I have a few more Bay Meadows uploads I want to make first. I'll be working on that Florida footage in January.
Track announcer: Michael Wrona
Can't be sure from the resolution of the film, but my group of friends used to stand up on the table right up against the fence as close as we could get to the turn. There is a group there in this video.
I have also looked for myself in these videos. There is somebody who looks like my father visible in the background of the finish line of the Harris Farms Handicap in the video I uploaded moments earlier today, but there is no way I will ever know for sure. I will pretend that it's definitely him celebrating and then giving me a high-five. His mannerisms definitely match my father's!
Thank you once again airforbes1 for posting another great memory of mine at my favorite former racetrack in Nor Cal.
