The word “Intentionality” kept running through my mind as I watched your video. Your process is SO rich in research and honoring to the Lord! As a fellow artist who also happens to be a believer, the act of creating with the Holy Spirit is foundational to everything. I’ve been a full time artist since 2018 and as much as I lean on the Lord to guide me, I’m in awe and floored with your rituals. Personally, in answer to your request for others’ rituals, I get a vision for a body of work. I immediately write down the idea in a “Pending Art Projects” note on my phone. I ponder it as I go about working on the current project as well as pray for wisdom and knowledge as to how to carry it out. 95% of the work is all internal. I don’t use physical sketchbooks, but do all the work in my mind-visualizing every step of the way, problem solving any complicated elements. When I actually set about creating the work, I’ve already it done it mentally numerous times, so it’s just a matter of getting it done. I honestly can’t wrap my mind around how you can spend so much time studying and researching! I get in the studio and work straight through every day and when I’m not in the studio, I’m decompressing-lol! But i have to say, something about your process, the intentional time spent seeking the Lord and sitting at His feet, really spoke to me…an invitation from Him to not copy you, of course, but to be intentional in weaving His Word with our work, to do a dance, in a way, between getting insights into His character and incorporating it into the artwork produced. Your video was visually stunning, the pace and voice-over on point and so unique. I can’t wait to see more! Thank you!!! P.S. I lived in Leavenworth for 2yrs when we were stationed there and LOVED Kansas City!!! My son currently lives in Wichita, so while Kansas is NOT the place for me (lol), it still holds a place in my heart! Again, thank you for the beauty you produce and the way you glorify God through it!

I started a garden or the first time this year, and it was mostly a fail, however, I am not going to quit. I know the value of growing plants to eat and smell, and overall appreciate. It takes time and patience just like art. and just like my yoga practice. I am trying to find moments of silence within my day, through my breath, and I am doing my best to release the judgments that I find my mind engaging in about how things should be. Getting to the state where I can tap into eternity is a daily longing, that sometimes feels illusive, especially when I get caught up in the daily existence of being a human. Anyway, the story you tell reminds me off the part of the Bhagavad Gita, when God reveals the true nature of God, which leaves Krishna both terrified and awestruck.

Arline - I am so sorry I missed replying to this comment a couple of months ago. Thank you for sharing your beautiful perspective! Daily pursuit of silence is certainly a discipline! I hope you will keep gardening! Every year is different, with failures and wins. I honestly think it is worth the sensory experience (especially smell) alone! Wishing you well in 2024 - May God bless and keep you!

@@kellykrusecreative I really hope you post more videos soon. I know they take time and energy. I have a yoga channel and I have not posted in well over a year, but there is a lot of value here. I love the contemplation and being within the mystical realm as I paint and how my yoga practice and my art practice connect me with the spark of divine within me as well as with everything around me. Rest is something that I can't deny, and I allow myself to have a siesta every day, because I love mornings and late nights, but afternoons are not my energetic jam, so I retreat into the sacred realm of sleep to recharge. Im not kidding, I feel it is a service as well as self care. When I am over tired and my nervous system is spent, I am not as kind or as open as I could be, and the noise in my head will not neat me near to anything expansive. Instead I become extremely tight and constricted. I do my best to breathe, focus and receive throughout the day, but my morning yoga practice and meditation (no matter how long or short) are vital and allow me to relax more easily within movement, whether it is in my painting studio or interacting with the world and her people. Life takes so much energy and we must recharge and plug in. It is counter intuitive to think that rest is necessary to productivity, but it most certainly is. Anyway as I am encouraging rest, I am asking for more videos please LOL (I did not say I was not selfish) And I am definitely working through my impoverishment of spirit moment by moment.

Its interesting, even when time is ample, other forms of resistance can rob my art from me. I have been working on tiny paper pieces lately, because they can go with me anywhere, and I find that when I am in different locations, new discoveries emerge within my work. I could definitely allow myself to play more both within my art process and with in my life. Nothing feeds creativity more joyfully. I am reorganizing my studio, and I would love to see a full video on how you set up your studio and organize your tools and paints. From what I see it is beautiful and seems very efficient

Beautiful. I was searching for ways to use the type of mulberry paper that I "accidentally" bought. I thought I was buying a roll of mulberry paper - the kind that has threads of fiber running through it, and is very thin. Instead, I have a writing-paper like paper, on a large roll. The salesperson described it as bleached mulberry paper. I couldn't send it back because I decided to cut a piece off to see if I could play with it. I had intended to do wax-batik with it and make window blinds, but, the texture seems too smooth and processed for what I had in mind. Maybe I can use it as you are using it in your video, I hope so. Your video is a blessing.

Such a beautiful and heartfelt process to meet the commissioner where they are. Even more beautiful is your honesty about how you approach the commission process - connection, contemplation and joy to serve. I applaud you in your honesty also for encouraging new artists in taking on commissions, but to do them on the terms and the styles for which they hope to better build upon - namely the sharing of those particular types of work shown on social / public places so as to encourage that type of work only. I personally have run into the intersection of having to decide to no longer do commissions because the ones I've done have been out of mostly a need to work and fund this small business, but many have been in a style I no longer want to pursue or simply no longer resonate with that style. Or at the very least, do not promote them. Still it's a struggle to balance "the feed" with new works and info if I'm taking on commissions that do not match the style for which I want to pursue .... which, ironically has yet to be fully known/confirmed. It's the time during those quiet stages without a commission that I'm finding where the Lord needs me to show up and work to bring forth what He's put on my heart. Again, thank you for all that you do and all that your are. I see you friend. :)

I loved this video so much! I found it so inspiring to hear about your rituals. I agree that other artistic mediums are really helpful in the inspiration process for me. Especially music, poetry, and reading. I often find the prophetic books of the Bible really inspiring because they are so full of amazing visual images! I also love looking at the work of other visual artists who work in genres other than mine. It's amazing sometimes how the most seemingly disparate painting or song or even article can be the "missing link" that moves me into my moment of clarity on how to move forwards. I would love to hear more about how your "moment of clarity" arrives (as you mentioned in the video). How do you decide which project to move forwards with? What does that moment of clarity look like? I know I, too, often have many ideas, but don't know which (if any!) I should choose. I would love to hear more about how you make this decision. Thanks so much for sharing these videos and insights into your process! Cheri

Your work has touched me deeply. Love your rituals are thorough and well done. Thank you for sharing your work. I love your work, I think my favorite is The Magnificat - I deeply love Mary and wish I could have seen it. Is there a book to a accompany the work? God definitely has his hand on you. Many blessings. Linda Herron

Thank you so much for these incredibly kind words, Linda! I'm so grateful that you enjoy my work! There used to be a book that went with Magnificat but I've sold them all. I will definitely announce it if I ever decide to print any more!

@kellykrusecreative I do love it - I have a series I'll be working on about space - I think I was gently guided to TH-cam and there you were. Not a copy cat, but watching you has given me just that impetus to plan. Have some mandalas in mind also - not your typical ones. Typical is not in my vocabulary 😊. Everything will happen - but right now getting a studio ready on the agenda - the kitchen table is getting too small. I do want to tell you your work just opened my soul. It's so powerful. Well, sorry there are no Magnificat books - that was while ago. One day. I know The Beatitudes will be heartfelt and beautiful. Researching as you do will be the key. Bless you as you go along with that. Take care - Linda

@@freshspiritworks4535 thank you so much for sharing! I too used to work mainly on my kitchen table (and still I sometimes do!). Praying you are able to make yourself a sacred space. I love the mandala idea! I'm sure it will be so beautiful! Space is a great muse for us all! ❤️ Thank you again for your encouragement!

At the time it was definitely less expensive than buying them... Even though it is a bit of work!!
