Is that the 2012 steam, heavyweights set? Lionel made the Alton and Blue Comet Heavy weight steam engine sets too Early 2000s were great years for Lionel American flyer. They should promote more of those sets in the 2100s! The perfect scale for sleek looks and limited spaces that O gauge is way to big for. Two rail track is realistic while HO is too small for many older people with poor eyesight.

Those circus cars and long white cattle cars must be all custom made. They were never made by Gilbert or Lionel AF. I think I see a 2012 Cresent limited Pacific and Heavyweight set. Am I right?

Fantastic layout. I can appreciate all the hard work and patience that went into putting that layout together. Just beautiful. I never owned any American Flyer trains when I was a child.

I have been going thru my AF 2012 catalog and I wonder if you have ever seen the Crescent Limited set on page 14. A gorgeous Southern Pacific with lots of detail like HO with a green, red, and silver paint job with yellow Cresent Limited markings. 4 heavyweights with more style than 0 gauge could ever hope to have and it is real model train scale only American Flyer and HO have. When I look at beauty on this level it is hard to even imagine anything like those cylindrical hoppers can be made by the same company! Those hoppers are by far the uglyest things I have ever seen. All the non traditional cars are allmost as bad. I know I would never want any of it.

Is that freedom train American Flyer? I see one in the TM 2012 guide book. I know I see a lot of S gauge items on your layout that is not AF. Even tho I like only 100% American Flyer layouts I think your display is really great. I own a big collection of hard to find AF freight cars. Most in original boxes and the rest in new repro boxes. Never wanted any of that other S gauge stuff since I never liked the looks of any of it. Gilbert made the best realistic toy trains and Lionel is making lots of really nice traditional Gilbert AF. I don't like that weird stuff from Lionel that Gilbert never made. I have the NYC passenger set with all extra cars and B unit. A beautiful set. Keep running your traditional stuff new and old and I will watch for more.
