going back and binging all of these, thank you for the closed captions! Great hosts, great editing all around
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Such pickle discourse… 😢😂 - she needs to try a really sweet and crunchy pickle though!
You should leave in the ambient sound because just voice over without it makes it sound removed from the environment. That’s what we learned over the years while I was doing voice overs for Marlee on TV
The background image. Aw, T-Mobile Sidekick I miss you. Bring back physical keyboards. Used to be able to touch type taking notes while watching someone sign.
I’ve yet to find an AMC that has open captions, even the AMC near the Deaf school near where I live doesn’t have movies in captions when I last checked. It sucks.
Wwwww phelan sesame street brought me here ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ my kids love love love sesame street and I watch your videos with for asl
Please continue videos like this I’m learning asl by watching ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Question : how do you feel about hearing parents teaching hearing babies and kids asl ? Parenting with asl
Phelan I remember seeing him on Sesame street asl I think ❤❤❤ my kid watch asl definitely helps parents
I love videos like this I’m hearing person but don’t like talking at all but it like I understand everything they are saying in asl and was never trained ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Question: I’m learning asl and hearing, so , is it better to use my voice or not while signing? I had some teachers that don’t mind but others that say no voice ?
That’s one thing that I loved learning about the deaf culture . The usage of facial expressions and body language is something I’m DEFF not used too LOL but I’m practicing , 😅
Captions are so so important to me. I rely on them, but so much of social media has only automatic captions, or not even that. It makes it really hard to understand what’s going on. (And this is coming from a hearing person- I have an auditory processing disorder) Often, with TikTok or TH-cam shorts, even if they have captions they’re blocked by the buttons and the bar at the bottom of the screen talking about the video. It’s so frustrating.
Our Roku TV sometimes puts a banner across bottom of the screen offering other options for viewig a show...lest we forget, *captions* are on the freakin' bottom of the TV 😬
Rikki mention!!
from Aotearoa NZ: 👋 these are good tips for learning any sign language/meeting any Deaf community 👋 if I could add anything, for hearing folk in particular - if you're new to visiting Deaf spaces - be patient. Don't demand Deaf folk cater to you just because you're learning. When Deaf community gets together it's often the times Deaf folk can relax amongst peers who know their language & culture, and they can relax & be themselves. There will be folk who have capacity to chat with you to support your learning the language, just remember its not something that Deaf community owes you.
Loved this so much. Phelan is such a vibe.
What's the difference between hearing scream and deaf scream? In deaf culture, closing your eyes while someone is speaking or signing to you is rude. Question: do you close your eyes when your hearing people even parents start speaking to you?
Hi😂😂
Im not deaf but ive always been offended by captions like that. Just seems lazy
What about compared to only deaf person with hearing families or deaf families
My brother and I are only deaf people with hearing family
3 deaf sisters with hearing families over here 🖐️
Captions taught me how to spell Pterodactyl since I watched a lot of Dinosaur Train.
I love that the interpreters speak with close to the same personality given by the interviewees. So many times have I seen a total disconnect between the signer and the interpreter, which makes no sense. Why would someone sign w so much emotion only to be interpreted like a robot?
my dad has tinnitus- uses captions. my sister is autistic- uses captions. my mother in law learning english- uses captions. my sister with sleeping baby- uses captions. CAPTIONS FOR EVERYONE!
So youll get upset when someone says hearing impaired..meaning your hearing is literally imparied. You cant hear... but when someone says you're disabled because you cant here, its ok. Explain please. Disabled can also be seen as broken. Many people have put us into a group and labeled us how THEY wanted to see US. If the world was completely deaf would we all be disabled? If someone walks into a bar and doesnt know the language being used, does that make them disabled. Society makes us disabled. We gain something being deaf. Not lose anything. I am a proud Deaf jewish woman. Its shameful that the younger generations dont understand what our people have been through so many deaf people wearing devices, for what purpose? If you are proud to be deaf, then show it. When you continue to supprt audism and the oppression weve experienced by using these "tools" its gross. Its disappointing. The Deaf community is lacking already. If hearing parents were teaching their deaf children asl and not just implanting implants and forcing speech therapy, who knows, but unfortunately we dont live in that world. The medical field is at a huge fault because they are responsible for educating parents. They dont. They wouldnt make money that way. And this just contiens the cycle. Next we have gene therapy...is that ok? I mean it would improve their way of life. The same argument for implants...but if a procedure was invented tomorrow to make people of color, white, or gay people staight, should we support it? Is it moral? Just? Theres nothing wrong with Deaf ppl being proud and not considering ourselves disabled. Saying thus doesnt mean anything against anyone who is. This is a false equivalence, as well as the argument about people wearing glasses is the same as being deaf ans being forced to have a hole drilled in your skull and then implanting METAL....come on.
A building on fire! The alarm rings. Those with adaquate hearing take appropriate action. A list of persons in the building showed that one person was "hearing impaired". The list of persons in the building showed that another person was "deaf". I think the firefighters would first investigate if the person listed as "deaf" was evacuated.
Thank you for video! More please!
🎉
Another 8 years for next episode?? 😬🤣 I am Deaf and use BSL very interesting see lot similarities with culture and how regional signs and speeds are different with ASL.
