I am all for legislation prohibiting speaker manufacturers from selling people devices which require an app to function as a universal control. There really is no such thing. Producers see no point with it, the sellers want to sell actual remotes. Therefore I suggest people contact the U.S. government and ask for legislation to be passed which makes attempting to falsely label speakers as if they can be connected to dysfunctional or non - existent universal control apps into an offense. This means that in the future, no speaker meant to be remotely controllable shall be sold without an actual, physical remote.

You contact legislators, officials and others and ask them to make sure that no one in your neighbourhood sells people speakers meant to be controlled by a non physical remote. If the speaker is supposed to come with a remote, the actual remote must follow the speaker. To make sure that JBL PRX Box One does not happen again, legislation is required to ensure that speakers are not subject to false labeling.

If mine turns out not to work either can I purchase a separate speaker and install it into the column? Other than that it does turn on and everything else works but trying to connect it to a mobile phone and I have not attempted to connect it to a computer yet. Mine is so well preserved it looks like it was purchased yesterday despite it was purchased on a serial card deal about 4 years ago. The challenge is to bring the speaker to my friends in the store where it was purchased from and see if it can be connected to something and then the phone, a Samsung Galaxy s. 22 will pick up the signal and be able to play the music. My biggest fear is to accidentally make unforgivable noise as a result of having failed to connect things properly. In the store, if all things go well it should be possible to connect it to a device and make sure no overtly loud noise is heard, and then I can buy this device and use it at home. If all else fails I want to try to buy a 2000 watt car speaker and see if I can put it in if it turns out that the column is empty. This column is so beautiful I really do want to keep it, despite it was a bit expensive.

Never try to connect a speaker to an app advertised as a remote control.

The fear of humiliation following the failure with the app prevented it. Users were wrongfully informed that the app is still in development.

No you can't disable Bluetooth connection but its surprising that this has happened as they need to physically pair with the unit
