im currently having to play the euphonium solo for this for seattle and i applaud the euphonium player in this piece. the register is difficult all in itself and achieving tone this amazing is absolutely gorgeous.
This has got to be one of my favourite pieces that i've ever played with my wind orchestra. And the brass section is amazing too :)
How does one write something this magnificent?
We're playing this in my Symphonic Winds and Percussion group. After the anger and rage around measure 49 there's two measures that the low voices play chords, and on the second measure it resolves into this beautiful, rich chord and man I get chills every time we play. In this video the change I'm talking about happens around 3:45 and God, it's gorgeous.
