Science experiments and activities - inspiration, tutorials and a little bit of fun.
Blowing up balloons with CO2 gas. A fun science experiment.
This is one of our faves, the kids love it. There's a sense of danger when the balloon inflates, and sometimes it does pop, splattering you with vinegar and baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)...so always wear glasses whilst doing this one. My safety glasses are about as old as I am!!
There's a lot of science going on here, and the experiment is multi-sensory.
So you can use this experiment to supplement teaching of different topics - chemical reactions, different gasses, mass, measuring accurately, safety, acid-alkali reactions, temperature changes.

How to dissect an Owl Pellet. Amazing what you find inside. Put it under the microscope too.
มุมมอง 16วันที่ผ่านมา
It is absolutely amazing to find so many tiny bones amongst the fur that the owl had regurgitated in this brown ball. The owl pellet does look like poop, but it isn't! This ball of puke (essentially) is the stuff that the owl can't digest - like bones, fur, seeds. Its really exciting and takes some time to carefully tease out all the bones and try to identify them. If you have a microscope at h...

UV glowing liquid: An easy and creative science experiment using a highlighter pen.

We extracted a special fluorescent dye, called fluorescein, from a yellow highlighter pen. It was so easy to do and the results were AMAZING. Read the blog here: devonscience.co.uk/glowing-fluorescent-liquid-highlighter-pen/ to find out how to do it. A very easy activity that uses a yellow highlighter pen and a UV torch. I can't believe the highlighter glows sooo brightly under UV light. All hi...

Can u post how to properly grow bread mould
@@AyeshaBaby-by3qs sure but do you mean the mould used to make bread (yeast), or the mould growing on this bread? If the latter then just leave bread in the bag for a while/until the mould grows!

Thank you @Rory_LA21 if you have a microscope at home, give it a try 🤩
@@devonscience I think I do
Can we use iodine?
You could try, but, because your check cells don't contain starch (which iodine stains, hence it's used for staining plant cells), you may not see anything! Let me know if it works though :)
@@devonscience 👍🏻 btw can we also use food colours for stains?
@@thelegendsofgaming27 sorry for Kate reply , I've just seen your question...food colourings don't work well at all
@@devonscience oh thanks 👍🏻
Thanks mam 😊
Thank you Ma'am ❤

Very helpful thank you miss
You're welcome 😀
I am just wondering, if this will still work the same (and as it should), after it was melted 🤔
Hello, yes it does - melting has no affect on the deodorant. We do this all the time now! We make 1 new stick out of 3 "used" ones!!
