I noticed the PH in my small grow out tank dip this week, so I'm running to the pet store after work to get some buffer. I would like to see a video on how you set up the new plants on top with that system you got from Amazon. Maybe post the link for that. Kent
I didn’t make a video on the hydroponic system but I plan to
My suggestions are point your wavemaker up it will keep the bottom of the tank cleaner and try using 2 wavemakers it will also help with more oxygen. use a quarantine tank, the last thing you want is all your fish to get sick. I'd also do a water change Afiican's love them adds minerals to your tank also add some safe and stability asap...good luck...
I have one large wave maker pointed up and plenty of water movement. I don’t know why the minor ammonia spike only affected 1 fish. I did and stability as well. I should get some safe I’ve never used it but I have heard good things about it.
Mic quality 🔥🔥
Thanks
Love setting up a new tank , even better when you’re just redoing an old one and trying something new .
That 75 gallon would be big enough to turn into a Lake Tanganikan tank, with enough rock structures, you could keep Neolamprologus Lelelupi, & Julidchromis Marksmithi Kiplili (both are rock dwellers, and stay low on the tank) you could also put in a section of shells, and add some Cuadopunctatus, and then some top/mid water fish like Cyprichromis. (or if you want cheaper and smaller, some dwarf neon rainbowfish) EDIT: lol I left my comments above, not knowing you were actually adding fish at the end of the video. You got some nice Tangs! I have never kept Tropheus, but I heard they prefer being in larger groups of 10-12, and they are algae grazers herbivores. So you will need to make sure you have food for them. Enjoy your new fish!
Thank you I have seen that larger groups are better and I will be adding more for sure
Interesting looking fish. I don't know much about them, but are they typically pretty small?
Smaller than the peacocks and haps. I’m learning as I go as well
How long was your grow out time to get to that size
About 7-8 months
What's the plant's on the top of your tank ? the 75 gallon thanks they look great....
They are just basic plants from Lowe’s I don’t remember all their names I’ll see if I can find the list I had. I also have a video on here where I mention the names
Congrats on the new fish. I have 4 new ones coming on Tuesday from Beantown Aquatics.
That’s awesome we drove to Jersey today and fish hut of New Jersey didn’t disappoint
And i thought my tank was overstocked....
What size is your tank? How many do you have?
@@Joeprop85 220 gallons and 18 fish

Hey Joe, nice to see a new video from you. My opps babies have really grown in size, so I was able to get a local petshop to take 20 of them off my hands (mixture of males and females), and I'm keeping 2 of them. The dad is a regal blue peacock and the mom is a blue dragon blood so they males have lots of blue and red coloring and are very pretty. I raised them from egg stage all the way up to 2.5-3" fish, and its been cool, but a lot of work that I don't want to do again. I've got the babies in a 29 gallon with a small star sapphire that I'm growing out. They are going to need at least another inch before I put them in a second 75 gallon that I set up a few months ago. My original 75 has 5-6" peacocks in it and there is a lot of aggression, but nobody is getting beat up at this point. I'm thinking about adding a hap in the same size range to try and tame the regal blue a bit.
My big guys are about 5-6 inches and the little guys are about 3 inch I added 20 of them. I hatched mine as well it was a cool experience for sure
Cant get mine to even turn on, brand new from the fucking box
Put water in actual canister and tubes turn it on close output valve and see what it does
@@funnee1664 I just left it plugged in and I'm about 20 minutes it kicked not an issue since..no idea never had one do that before
Did you fill the canister with water before turning it on? You have to prime them first
@@Joeprop85 it's totally fine, I just plugged it in it was cycling I assume, never made a noise but about 15 min after plugging it in it was working perfectly okay

Thanks I wish I had kept this set up when I upgraded
The fish looks totally stressed, pls change the aquarium background to blue or white, then with no decoration, u see results in 1 week let me knw the diff
It’s the lights and the camera of the lights are out he swims all over and interacts with me
You have to keep them alone right??
I’ve seen some people have them with tank mates but in most cases I dont think it’s a good idea
Nice fish
Thank you
How are you growing the plants outside of your tank?
There are plastic trays that sit into the lid down into the water the trays are filled with holes and I put the roots directly into them no dirt no media
I don’t know what that black guy is but he looks awesome! Beautiful set ups man! You don’t have enough viewers! Great videos dude, keep them coming
Thank you much appreciated I enjoy making them and wish I could do the m more often than not
Nice video Joe, the shimmer from those lights is awesome.
Thank you
Hey Joe, nice tank and nice video, keep them coming buddy.
I’m trying to keep them coming I enjoy making them it gets tough with work at times
Hey Joe. I’m going through the same thing with one of my “guaranteed male” cichlids that I got from snake river cichlids. Took the fry out tonight and put them in an egg tumbler that I got off Amazon. Watching your video really helped. Kent
Glad to hear my batch at now in a 75 gallon and they are about 2 inches.
Nice tank and nice video buddy.
Thanks
Not the end of the world. But rinsing the new media will reduce clouding. Just for others watching this.
I agree but it clears quick
What kind of rocks are those and where did you get them?
Rip rap I got them at the local stone yard
cichlids can be poop heads. mine are that way at times. just their breed.
I agree I learned that real quick lol
You could also take these pics to the shop and they will tell you what they are.
Not a bad idea thank you
Your welcome.
Ive seen on other you tube vids they put house hold plants in the top with the roots going into the water to pull out the nitrate.
That’s what im doing except the roots are wrapped in Polly fill. Hopefully it helps with nitrates.
So he sold you the tank and stand for $100? If so that is amazing. Even if it was just the tank for $100 thats still great. The fish are looking very good! I have 8 peacocks in my 75 gallon and its been 3 weeks with no issue.
So it was with the tank and stand but I didn’t care for the stand and I had this counter set up in the garage. Enjoy your tank share some stories of your progress along the way
07's series just has a twist on tube, the fx has hose clamp becuz of thr output. I'd assume lol
I put hose claps on everything just to be safe
@Joeprop85 I should do that to mines too lol I got a small 207 one 😅
@@ballistic350 it can only help
How many haps do you have
I honestly just got my first one it’s a blue dolphin it will be in my next video
No sound?
I think I fixed it I have sound
You don’t want any slack in your intake tubing. It’s a Syphon, most flow is shortest distance with as much fall as possible. Your cabinet floor is so high and so close to top of tank your losing performance there as well. This isn’t a bash post. Nice set up and some beautiful looking fish. Just some advice to get the most out of those canisters
With the new set up I took a lot of slack out of
Wonder if this is why i have some issues getting my canister filters to prime? Im going to shorten my lines to see.
@@wardraven8755 did it work?
It did
Great video Joe. I'm curious how much you feed them at a time and how many times per day. My 75 gallon is finally set up and I'm going to wait 3 or 4 weeks before I add the fish. I added the API quick start to the water after I filled it and I'm going to put a few food pellets in there as well to try and get the good bacteria going. Looking forward to update videos on the baby fish as they develop. Kent
I started my 75 gallon tank, the same way except I used prime and stability prime on the first day and then stability every day for two weeks and I did a light feeding the first week and then a second one the second week and at the end of the second week I checked my parameters I still had ammonia, but a very low rate. When I added my fish, I kept dosing my prime I also added 20 peacock cichlids at one time and I didn’t lose any until about two weeks later, I lost one which was the craziest thing that’s ever happened and that wasn’t due to parameters. My parameters were perfect at the time. I feed extreme pellets once a day, and I feed them until the pellets start laying on the bottom. Once I start seeing them slow down and pellets on the bottom of the tank is when I stop.
how much flow does it make in the tank? i have a 29 gal and was going to set mine up in it, but dont want to make a whirl pool lol
You can adjust the flow with the input and output valves I just put one on a 36 bow front on full bore with guppies and it’s fine they love the flow
I also came up with a fry food hack. I grabbed an empty pepper grinder from Amazon and put the pellets in it. I grind the fry food right from the pellets so the fry get the same food as the adults
That sounds like a great idea thanks I’ll definitely grab one
Damn dude she had a lot of fry. I usually let them hold the babies for like a week so that they are more developed when I strip the fry. Idk if you’ve ever raised fry before. They are pretty sensitive when you do the water changes. Use chlorine remover!! I killed 60 fry in 20 min because I forgot chlorine remover. And do water changes frequently/ feeding 3 times a day. Good luck!!
I heard you have to do frequent changes and I only use rodi water in all my tanks. How long from this stage until full fry do you know?
@@Joeprop85 honestly I haven’t grown any out that far yet haha. I’ve heard a yr at least to full grown.
@@bluecollarfox913 yea I think it’s like 2 weeks until I can start feeding once they lose their eggs
Good video that coral reef exhibit was insane
Thank you awesome place
Definitely got to check this place out
I highly recommend it
Love this vid !! Great review! Loved the sharks too

Nice
Thank you
Where did you get those rocks from?
They are just bluestone (Rip Rap) I buy them by the truck load and our local quarry. I do a lot of landscaping so I always have them around
It’s called a Sunshine Benga cichlid
Thank you
Nice tank and beautiful peacocks. What size tank do you have?
Thank you it’s a 75gallon
@@Joeprop85 I’m just now getting back into African Cichlids after a 25 year break. I’m currently gathering everything needed for a 75 gallon. I purchased a Penn- Plax cascade 1500 Elite canister filter. I’ve been wondering if it’s going to be enough. Did you start with one filter and have water issues and then added a 2nd later?
@@KnKs64 I did start with just an fx6 then I added the 4 for my own peace of mind and additional media
Sound is very poor😢
I just bought a mic after this video
nice tank! i really love your shimmer effect! Wish i could get mines to hut like that
Kessil a160 with heavy flow
@@Joeprop85 2 kessils buddy?
Beautiful reef! I’m surprised those grazers haven’t eaten it, do they not eat that type of algae? I have a some bubble algae in mine, but the coralline keeps it in check
They do t seem to eat it once it gets long they try to keep it at bay until it gets out of hand
Damn, fx 6 and 4? That’s some flow! I run a fx2 on my 75. I think the stress and aggression will subside over time. I’d put the trouble maker on time out for a few days and remove/rearrange the scape. You might have to remove and add fish until everything is good. I removed and added around 10 fish until I found a mix that worked and now everything has been pretty chill in my rift tank for about a year aside from minor chasing
The aggressive behavior has definitely been slowing down. I do like a lot flow I want the water to be super clear and I wanted to have as much media as possible
Nice rift setup!! Imperial is great, I’ve been ordering from them for years Kessils are awesome on rift tanks, I have 2 A-80 tuna suns on mine Subbed
Yes they are! Thank you
