Blind Shortening in Van

I fitted this blind to the galley window in a motorhome build in a Mercedes Sprinter. It was a retro fit , being done to replace some curtains after the wall panelling and furniture had already been put in place. Guitar Case Handle Repair Part I

The original plastic handle on my Takamine case finally broke and I had a look at fitting a new one. The new handle is an "Adam Hall 3414 BRN Leatherette" handle from Thomann. Please note, this video is for interest only; I'm not a luthier or in anyway trained in case repair!!

Thanks very much for making this video, very useful to see how you got over all the issues. I have exactly the same problem, the handle on my Takamine case has broken. Actually the handle itself is OK but the flimsy bracket fixing it to the case has come apart. I wanted to get a Taylor replacement handle (#5600) and rivets (#5602) but they’re not currently available in the UK, so I have ordered the same as you, the Adam Hall 3414 BRN leatherette handle from Thomann, total inc delivery £21.80. There are similar looking handles on Amazon for slightly less but I’ll go with your choice. Thanks for the tips on pulling the case lining away - how did you stick it back on in the end?
Hey there, glad it was of use :) Yeah, I found the same thing with certain items not being available in th UK. Really annoying! Anyhow, as I say, I'm no expert so there may be better tricks out there for doing this but what I did worked so.... I'd say just be careful to really squash the rear of the old rivets when you're pulling them out as the splayed metal really wanted to tear at the wood. Also I'd try a plastic scraper rather than a metal one to pull away the lining (it was difficult not to tear into the lining with the metal one). I eventually fixed the lining back on with a simple spray-on glue (such as you might use for fitting carpeting upholstery to insides of cars etc.) The one thing I haven't done still is fill/cover the original fixing holes. Hope this helps and good luck :)
