I made this journal a couple of years ago. The cover is a three-piece assembly. After some time the product that I used to assemble the journal cover lost its adhesion or it dried up and the cover came apart. My customer was gracious enough to let me repair it for her. In this video I explain the process and show you the products I used.

I like to do an initial flip-through of my journal after the structure is complete. This is the stage that I quickly glue and obvious flaps for tuck spots or pockets, punch notches in my pockets, and get familiar with the journal as I go along. There are many ways to create prep your journal to sew in the signatures. I hate measuring! You would think it would be easy to measure and mark with a ruler and pencil but I somehow always manage to mess it up. I like to use part of a book binding kit and just follow the marks that I made with a sharpie. For this big journal I made a paper template. Watch to the end to see how to get your knot...

Before you commit to sewing, go through one more time and make any paper switches now. Just do a simple flip through to see if you like the flow. If something isn't quite right but you don't want to switch the papers around, don't worry. Absolutely beautiful I want to make one for myself! What kind of glue did you use to glue down the ribbons to the paper?
Mostly I use Art Glitter Glue. If it's a heavier fabric I will use Fabri-Tac or Beacons.
Beautiful work- the journal original and repair. Thank you for showing us! I love to know the construction & good to know the outcome as well. I have used cereal boxes but the journals are for myself. Time will tell but after a year so far they are in tact.

@@ravenvintage2778 Yes! I just pulled out one I made a year or more ago & the binding came loose to the point where the pages were detaching. How does this happen when it sat in a drawer in disturbed? Guess there are little junk journal ghosts who wreak havoc at night when I’m not looking 👻😂 So that is my next project, first one I get to fix. Thanks for your video!

This is such an excellent idea. It adds character to a typical "belongs to" journal component. I will be utilizing this idea in my journals, using these doors to match the theme of the journal. My doors for this prompt will be based on the "painted" doors in Ireland.

Very pretty book. I am Wiccan. Or white witch. So I’m not keen on skulls and images like that. I like more of nature themes. Herbal. Or the wheel of the year. Or work with. Earth, air fire water and spirit and the coordination of colours for them.

I personally choose not to shop Temu. A book binding kit is worth the purchase, in my opinion. I use it a lot!
