Listen to your fans, not the damn critics. We, your fans know Journey Rocks. And their cute too
Steve got it right about the damn critics. You can't win for losing. I wouldn't listen to them either ONLY your Journey fans. We know you got it - you did great. ❤ Oh i loved watching the band having fun playing baseball.
Personally, I’d liked Greg;s voice better than Perry;s. But the two together……unreal.
First time Zeppelin played they got negative reviews saying Plant had NO voice worth listening to. Took critics until the 4th album to finally admit they had something special. Same with Journey. Funny how WRONG the so-called “critics” get it lol Plant and Perry, only 2 of the biggest legends in rock history
Planet Perry …. I love it!
Perry.... Donald Duck inhaling helium.
The day Rolie left journey was the day the journey died in my mind
All of these dude’s play the charade to keep the fat checks rolling in. Greg Rolle bailed for honorable reasons (family). As for Steve Perry he was frugal when the big bucks rolled in. He was building turkey coops not long before his final success. He invested and saved so when he left he had no problem. Ross the bassist had huge IRS problems . Neil Shaun was a huge over spender and lived high on the hog with no savings. Pay check to pay check. Money in money out. Fast forward he still can’t manage money. That’s why he hammer’s the corporate card maxing it out and Jonathan Cain slapped a lawsuit on him just recently. Some things never change. If Shuan was forced to disclose his savings and investments, besides a home and nice guitars 🎸 his liquid cash available is likely to be $50 grand or less.
This explains why I don't remember Gregg Rolie's name. Their names were not really out there for quite a while. It was just Journey. From what I understand, Gregg Rolie was with them until about 1980.
Not only are these guys talented, but they are extremely handsome too, Steve Perry of course, Greg Rolie, and especially Neil the guitarist with those boyish good looks and beautiful smile! No wonder boyfriends of the screaming female fans would get jealous of the band sometimes! Lol!
The whole band was amazing. Steve's voice was really the best!! He must have really burned out to give it all ip because he looked liked he was having a great time
Man THIS was the best time to see a rock concert. And Journey are so good, on top of their game, so many great songs with harmonies. Greg Rolie on keyboards. Steve singing. This was pure rock. This must be the late 70s, do you also notice how everyone was skinny back then??
Neal's FABULOUS fro and Gregg and Steve's white pants 🌠
I have an appreciation for all of the Journey band members. They are very talented. Steve is the closest one to my heart. His voice and talent stood out for me. Always a fan.
STEVE LOVING,TOUCHING,SCEEZING IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE 🤩
Steve Perry will never grow old! His music is timeless , I have listened to him and Journey from his beginning. LOL
Why did Rollie leave the band?
All your hard work traveling on for on-the-go hard work paid off proud of you guys
Beautiful hair that you went platinum.
What type of potato was used to film this?
What's the name of the warm up song?
Majestic
@@michaelperkins9321 thanks Michael
The interviewer is naive...and even annoying...of course Steve was the focal point from day one.
It is just amazing that his voice could do what it did night after night after night............
50 years - 45 years since Perry. 🤯Wow Time flies. My 3rd concert after John Denver and Queen... but I saw them equally as much as John. My taste is eclectic .... Denver - Perry - now Bruno Mars. The three couldn’t be more different yet all three such great singer/brilliant writers and charismatic storytellers. 💗💿🎤
Ah!!! The GOOD OL' DAYS!!! MISS when Greg was in Jouurney!!!❤❤❤❤
I want cd and DVD copies of those concerts!!
Gregg has always seemed like a really humble guy that just loves making music. Especially listening to him here at 3:30.
Great interview....new to me....Thank you !❤❤❤❤❤
I was at the concert of all concerts. 1983, ORANGE ARENA- Orlando, FL. Bryan Adams, AEROSMITH, Sammy Hagar & JOURNEY. Bryan Adams- great band, great songs, great singer. AEROSMITH- poor, due to no Brad & Joe, Steven did not remember the words to Dream On. Sammy Hagar- well, Sammy Hagar. JOURNEY- had it all, they sounded just like their records on 10+. Each member had a time onstage alone. Each member took control and never let up. Steve Perry is one of a kind.
I love Neil's fro.
.
It’s the secret to longevity, but also the hardest thing: stay true to the vision of the band and check your ego at the door. These “early days” videos of various bands prove it.
Absolutely love Steve! Just from his speaking voice you can tell he’s a great singer! I grew up listening to journey but not as an adult I’m obsessed and have the biggest crush on 80’s Steve lol. He has the most amazing voice I’ve ever heard
Neal Schon’s afro looked stupid.
I think it’s really cool that one of Steve Perry’s biggest influences Sam Cooke have the same Birthday!
I was captured by the light of her wayward smile when she said to me move slowly son and touch the sky.
That was one of the best interviews I've ever seen. I wish I could turn back time I'm 59 years old and as a teen Journey hit the right notes in my soul from the vocals to lead guitar to Rollies piano and keyboards . Just listening to bits of songs and the time this took place in this interview brings back these feelings and emotions as when I was a teen.❤️🥺
Steve Perry too good to ride with the rest of the band in the bus?
Nooo, when he started a relationship with Sherri they took an RV for privacy. As have other band members.
Gregg rolie is one very good guy and a badass singer as well just listen to gregg in santana he's the shit and i have lots of pic together rock on gregg Modesto ca. And roots 👍
1978-79 I believe. It's definitely not the 80's.
1978
6:33 weasel reporter....see how they work?
5:28 Steve Dahl coming in hot!
I lost it at the 40 sec mark....so many memories.
Wheel in the sky?? Ho hum
The great tune naturel thing was cowriten by Ross!
Is that Rick from Pawn Stars at 5:16...Lol!
Why did Rollie leave Journey?
Just time to go. He had a long stint with Santana....Journey is basically a spin-off of Santana, which he and Neal were members of..they left, along with H.Herbert, Santana's road manager, and formed Journey. Actually, they were under a different name then, but changed to Journey a little later. Anyway, like Santana, Journey was originally mostly a jazz/rock non-lyrical band, but the songs that were sung, were mostly sung by Rolie. Long story, short... H.Herbert was Journey's manager and wanted there to be a legitimate front-man main-stay to help bring more success (commercialism) hence Steve Perry. Perhaps Rolie wasn't thrilled with this, but in the same turn, Rolie had nothing else to prove, and was probably ready to move on...a good excuse to leave after a harrowing few years of touring. Many people blame Perry for commercializing Journey, as if he is the reason...but in reality, if he hadn't come along, there may not be a Journey as we know it today. They were falling fast, and he was a last ditch effort to keep the music going, albeit in a different direction.
Never been a Jonathon Cain fan
love this viedo
